Cultures give us a sense of belonging in society. So the losing of one’s culture is, for many, alarming. Many people believe their traditional ways of life are under threat (威胁) and that something should be done. Yet for some, the losing of culture is a natural result of globalization(全球化) and progress. So is the globalization of culture a threat or a chance? Those who see globalization as a threat argue that societies are losing special parts of their cultures. For example, Omotik, a language spoken in East Africa, has only 50 live speakers. There are also increasing fears in China, where the losing of musical and dance traditions, as well as traditional crafts, is causing concern to many. Some argue that it is hard to find differences between London and Tokyo. Young people, whose ideas are often influenced by Western or other popular cultures, often refuse or even give up the traditions their parents grew up with.Others focus on the advantages of globalization. They accept that Western culture is spreading, but they also point to how Western countries and many other parts of the world are being shown to world cultures. Young Americans enjoy Japanese comic magazines and watch Korean movies. Thai teenagers enjoy pop music from Hong Kong. Many argue that there are advantages to these cross-cultural exchanges and that they lead to better understandings between cultures. They say world traditions are celebrated more widely because of these. Chinese New Year, now celebrated in most big cities around the world, is just one of the many festivals that are accepted internationally.Anyway, many grass-roots organizations and governments are making efforts(努力) to protect their cultures. One successful example is Wales. There was a time when social pressures were killing off the Welsh language, but after years of efforts, it is now an active part of Welsh life again. Around the world, similar efforts are going on. ( )4.Which of the following is an OPINION according to the passage?A.Omotik is a language spoken in East Africa.B.Young Americans enjoy Japanese comic magazines.C.The globalization of cultures is a chance to traditional ones.D.Chinese New Year is now celebrated in most big cities around the world.( )5.The underlined word “concern” in Paragraph 2 probably means “________”.A.worries B.changesC.differences D.problems( )6.What does the underlined word “these” in Paragraph 3 refer to?A.Advantages. The answer is penicillin (青霉素). It kills germs. By killing germs, it saves lives. Suppose you are sick. You go to a doctor. She examines you. She says you have a “staph” infection (葡萄球菌感染). She gives you some medicine. You take it. The medicine knocks out the staph. Soon you are well. Before penicillin, this would not happen. Staph was almost sure death.Everyone wanted a medicine. This is what Fleming probably thought. “By accident, I found a mold to kill the dreaded staph.”This is how penicillin was found. But here’s the real miracle (奇迹). There are thousands of kinds of molds. But only one kind can kill staph. The mold must have fallen into the dish a few days before. The cover was probably off only a few seconds (秒). There were wolves and bears, many different kinds of deer and large wild cows. There were less than four million people. They lived in small villages protected by wooden walls from the animals outside. All this has changed, of course. Now the population of the United Kingdom has increased to sixty-five million. Three-quarters of Britain is covered with fields, towns or cities. Although 25 percent of land is countryside, new methods of farming mean that there are fewer birds and small animals living in fields than ever before. The United Kingdom is one of the few countries in the world that does not have a large wild animal that eats meat. In Scotland there are only 400 wildcats, but these are much smaller than wolves. Some people would like to change things, however! Some organizations and writers say that Britain needs to become more natural again. They suggest that trees and plants that grew in the UK before towns and cities were built should be allowed to grow again. They even say that large wild animals which have not lived in the UK should be helped to return and live wild. They call this "rewilding".Not everyone agrees. In the last twenty years, over one million trees which at first grew in Scotland have been planted and there are plans for more—but wild animals? Some people ask if wolves will attack sheep or even humans. They are also angry that rewilding might mean an end to walking in the hills which so many people enjoy. So far there are no wolves or bears in Britain's forests—but soon there might be!1.What was the population of the UK thousands of years ago?A. About 25 million.B. Over 65 million.C. Water is a human right and everyone should have their share. Yet more than 700 million people around the world have trouble getting clean, safe water.Treating wastewater is a good way to provide fresh water for us. And it also helps the environment by keeping waste out of rivers and oceans. 80% of wastewater around the world is not treated at all, and it is running into oceans. But now we have got the technology to treat and reuse the wastewater. While 75% of our planet is covered with water, only about 2% is fresh water—that comes from rivers, lakes, ice and snow. We walk whe re we don’t have to drive. But does it do any good? When I am the only one in line at the market with cloth bags, am I doing any good?Does my walking to stores make any real difference to the world?I recently learned something about flamingos (火烈鸟) which like to get together in groups ofa thousand or more. Every year, when the time comes for migration (迁), a few of them first take off from the lake. But none of the others seem to notice, so the small group returns. However, the next day they try again. This time a few more fly along with them, but most of them still pay no attention, so they return again. They try for several times. Every time a few more birds join in but since the thousands of others still take no notice, the great migration plan is once more stopped. Then one day something changes. 中考英语作文保护熊猫

中考英语作文保护熊猫精选英文中考英语作文保护熊猫:Title: Safeguarding the Panda - Our Shared ResponsibilityPandas, those adorable black and white creatures, are not only a national treasure of China but also a symbol of global conservation efforts. However, the reality is grim. The panda population is dwindling, and their survival is threatened by various factors, including loss of habitat, climate change, and human activities. Therefore, it is imperative that we all come together to protect these gentle giants.Firstly, preserving the panda's natural habitat is crucial. Forests and bamboo groves provide them with food, shelter, and a safe breeding ground. It is our responsibility to ensure that these habitats are protected from deforestation and illegal logging. We should also encourage sustainable forestry practices that allow for the regeneration of bamboo and other vital plant species.Secondly, education and awareness are key. We must educate the younger generation about the importance of pandas and conservation. Through school programs, community events, and media campaigns, we can raise awareness about the threats facing pandas and the actions we can take to protect them. Moreover, we should support and participate in conservation programs. Organizations like the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda are dedicated to panda protection and research. We can donate to these organizations, volunteer our time, or simply spread the word about their efforts.Lastly, we must adopt a mindset of sustainability in our daily lives. Reducing our carbon emissions, conserving water and energy, and minimizing waste can all contribute to a healthier planet for pandas and all other species. In conclusion, protecting pandas is not just a Chinese responsibility; it is a global effort. Each and every one of us can play a part in safeguarding these beautiful creatures. Let us come together, take action, and ensure that pandas continue to thrive on our planet for generations to come.中文对照翻译:标题:保护熊猫-我们的共同责任熊猫,这些可爱的黑白相间的生物,不仅是中国的国宝,也是全球保护努力的象征。
