Ladies and gentlemen,Good morning/afternoon/evening. Today, I stand before you to discuss a topic that has the potential to transform our lives, shape our future, and ignite positive change. The topic is the power of questions. Before I delve into the details, I would like to pose a question to you all: Have you ever stopped to think about the impact questions have on our lives? Whether it's in our personal relationships, professional endeavors, or the broader scope of societal issues, questions have the power to guide us, challenge us, and ultimately, transform us.Let's begin with the personal realm. Have you ever asked yourself, "Who am I?" or "What do I truly want out of life?" These questions may seem simple, but they hold the key to self-discovery and personal growth. By pondering these questions, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, our values, and our passions. This self-awareness can lead to more fulfilling relationships, more purposeful work, and a more meaningful life. Now, let's shift gears to the professional world. How often do we find ourselves in meetings, discussions, or negotiations where questions are the cornerstone of progress? Questions such as "What are the challenges we face?" or "How can we improve our processes?" can spark innovation, facilitate problem-solving, and drive us towards success. By asking the right questions, we can unlock the potential within our teams, foster collaboration, and create a culture of continuous improvement. But the power of questions extends far beyond our personal and professional lives. It has the ability to influence the world around us. Think about the pivotal moments in history when questions were askedthat led to significant changes. For example, "Why are women not allowed to vote?" or "Why are people of color treated as second-class citizens?" These questions ignited movements that brought about social justice and equality. In today's world, we are faced with numerous challenges, from climate change to economic inequality. By asking the right questions, we cangain clarity on these issues and work towards sustainable solutions. For instance, "How can we reduce our carbon footprint?" or "How can webridge the wealth gap?" These questions can guide us in making informed decisions and taking action towards a better future. However, it's important to note that not all questions are created equal. The effectiveness of a question lies in its ability to prompt critical thinking, challenge assumptions, and inspire action. Here are a few tips on how to harness the power of questions:1. Ask open-ended questions: These questions encourage in-depth discussion and exploration of ideas. Instead of asking "Is this good?"try asking "What makes this good?" or "What are the potential benefits and drawbacks?"2. Seek diverse perspectives: By asking questions that invite input from different backgrounds and experiences, we can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the issue at hand. This fosters empathy, inclusion, and innovation.3. Be curious: A curious mindset allows us to approach life with a sense of wonder and a willingness to learn. Ask questions that challenge your own assumptions and push the boundaries of your knowledge.4. Embrace uncomfortable questions: Sometimes, the most powerful questions are those that make us uncomfortable. These questions force us to confront our biases, examine our actions, and grow as individuals.5. Ask questions that matter: Focus on questions that have the potential to make a real difference in your life and the lives of others. Thiswill help you prioritize your efforts and concentrate on what truly matters. In conclusion, the power of questions should not be underestimated. They have the ability to transform our lives, shape our future, and ignite positive change. By asking the right questions, we can gain self-awareness, foster innovation, drive societal progress, and create abetter world for all.So, I challenge you to embrace the power of questions. Start by asking yourself, "What questions can I ask to make a difference in my life and the lives of others?" By doing so, you will unlock the potential within yourself and contribute to the greater good.Thank you for your attention.。

1.Do you think teachers should give students a lot of homework? 你认为老师应该给学生布置很多作业吗?不应该布置太多作业,课堂上理解就行了,作业只不过是当做课后复习的。

题海战术,只会增长学生厌读心理。

Thank you. // Well, i should say teachers should give students some home work to do, because it can help students to better understand the subject and it is easier for them to grasp the information in next lessons. However, i don’t think teachers should give students a lot of homework, because it always give students a lot of stress. In order to finish it, many usually stay up late, and it’s bad for their health. Besides, after that, students would feel sleepy the next day and cannot concentrate on class.2.In the future, do you want to study in a university? Why or why not?将来,你是否会想上大学?为什么?想,因为大学的生活更轻松,更有目标性,先学那科学那科。

北师大小学英语四年级上册英语3单元说课稿

Unit 3 It’s too expensive!Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Li Yuting, from Chengdu Guilin Primary School. I’m so honored to share my teaching design here. The teaching content is Lesson 1 of Unit 3 It’s too expensive!, from Primary English, Grade 4, volume 1, published by Beijing Normal University Press. This unit is mainly about asking and answering questions about prices and size of clothing. Now, I will explain the lesson from the following aspects.Firstly, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching content. The topic of shopping can be found in the book of Grade 3. In volume 1, numbers from eleven to twenty and the structure “How much is/are?” are covered. In volume 2, sentence pattern “I want …” and “Do you have…”are contained. In this lesson, the topic of shopping is enriched by expressions of asking and answering size of clothing, and “expensive”, “cheap”to describe prices. Ss can review and extend the topic of shopping by learning this story.Secondly, it is about the Ss.Our Ss are in Grade four. They are active and curious, interested in all new things. After learning English for three years, they have some basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should pay more attention to the communication with them; provide them with chances of using language as much as possible. They have learnt English for 3 years, and have already learned thestructure “How much is/are…?”“Do you have…?”It is not difficult for them to understand structures of asking and answering questions about prices and size of clothing by the end of the class. So, I set the following aims.nguage KnowledgeBy the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read, recognize and understand the meaning of these words: clothes, shorts, shoes, trousers, expensive, cheap, size, any, some, too, medium. And these sentences: “Do you have any…?”, “Yes, I do.”, “What size do you want?”, “Those trousers are too big.”“This store is too expensive.”“Those clothes are cheap.” Ss should know what “Let’s go in.”, “the right size.”, “only” mean in the story.nguage SkillBy the end of the lesson, Ss can understand the story and get useful information from character dialogues through activities of watching, observing, predicting, listening and reading etc.3.Emotional AimSs should learn to be thrift.Next is teaching aids. In this class, I’ll use PPT and tape recorder.Fourthly, I’ll talk about teaching method. In this lesson, I will mainly use “Task-based teaching method”, “situational approach” and “TPR teaching method” and so on.Now, l et’s focus on the teaching procedures. I will finish the lessonin 4 steps.Step 1. Warming-upI will start the lesson with a TPR activity. The order “Touch your…” is given and the words and pictures of the corresponding clothing is shown by the PPT. This will help Ss to review the vocabulary of clothing and the new words “trousers”, “shorts”, “skirt”will be presented here and the sentence “Do you have any…?”will be brought out by asking “Boys/Girls, do you have any skirt?” and naturally, the expressing “Yes, we do.”, “No, we don’t.” are elicited.Step 2 Lead-inThe same pictures of clothing will be showed again with price tags. Ss must say their prices in English to review the expression “How much is…”and numbers of 65, 45, and 50 are preliminarily introduced here. Picture 1 and picture 2 are used as background information for this story. Ss are directed to compare the prices in these two stores to conclude the first one is expensive and the latter is cheap. Thus, these two key words are presented appropriately and the emotional aim of being thrift is penetrated in this step.Step 3 PresentationFirstly, I’ll fully input the language by playing the whole story with a question so that the Ss can have a general idea of the story. Then, I will present the story from picture 3 to picture 6. In each picture, I’ll ask Ss to describe the picture in English first and then draw their attentions to thekey parts with questions so that they can predict the story plot better. For example, in picture 5, I’ll draw Ss’ attention to Ken’s trousers, which is obviously not the right size. I will ask Ss to act out what it will be like when a person is wearing trousers that are too big. Thus, the key word “too” is highlighted and the concept of size is showed in a concrete way. After asking Ss to predict what the characters will say, I will play the tape to check the answer. Ss are required to read after the tape when the texts are revealed. In picture 4 and picture 6, I’ll give Ss the chance to guess the prices, which will arouse their enthusiasm of participation. From picture 7 to 9, I will give Ss a free space to show their abilities. I will ask them to read these pictures by themselves. While the Ss are reading from picture 7 to picture 9, I’ll walk around the classroom to c heck how they are doing with the task. When time’s up, I’ll check Ss self-learning result by playing PPT. This time, I’ll ask Ss to read the sentences directly before playing the tape. Ss are required to read the whole story after the tape when all the pictures are presented, so that they can further understand the story as a whole.Step 4 ExerciseIn this step, I will ask Ss to do “Listen and Point”. Ss must point to the corresponding picture and tell me which picture it is that match the dialogues or sentences they hear. By doing this, I can check whether Ss can recognize the languages or not and help Ss get more familiar with the story. And this is the layout design. That’s all for my teaching design of this lesson. Thank you so much for listening!。

Don’t be shy,just tr y!

Good evening. It is an honor to be here today as a judge for thisEnglish speech competition. Speeches are more than just words; they are windows into the souls of speakers, reflections of their intellect, passion, and conviction. As we delve into the speeches presented before us, I would like to pose a series of questions that I believe will not only enhance our understanding but also stimulate deeper reflection among the competitors.Firstly, to the speaker who touched our hearts with a narrative of overcoming adversity, could you elaborate on the specific moments or events that shaped your perspective on resilience? How did these experiences contribute to your growth and the message you wish to impart to the audience?Question 1: "In your speech, you shared a compelling story of overcoming personal challenges. Could you identify the pivotal moments or eventsthat truly transformed your life, and how did they influence your viewon resilience?"Moving on to the speaker who delivered a powerful argument for social change, I must commend you for your articulate presentation. However, I am curious to know more about the research and evidence you cited. How did you ensure the accuracy and relevance of the information you provided? Additionally, what counterarguments did you consider, and how did you address them in your speech?Question 2: "Your speech was persuasive and well-structured. How did you conduct your research, and what measures did you take to ensure the credibility of the information presented? Furthermore, what counterarguments did you anticipate and how did you counter them?"Next, to the speaker who spoke passionately about the importance of education, I found your insights deeply thought-provoking. However, the world is vast and diverse, with varying perspectives on the role of education. How do you believe your message can be universally applicable, and what challenges do you foresee in implementing your vision on a global scale?Question 3: "Your speech highlighted the significance of education. How do you think your message can resonate with individuals from different cultural and economic backgrounds, and what are the potential challenges in making your vision a reality worldwide?"For the speaker who focused on environmental sustainability, your presentation was both informative and inspiring. I am intrigued by the innovative solutions you proposed. How feasible do you think these solutions are, and what role do you believe technology can play in their implementation?Question 4: "Your speech offered innovative solutions for environmental sustainability. How practical are these solutions, and what role do you envision technology playing in their implementation?"To the speaker who shared personal experiences to promote empathy and understanding, your speech was a beautiful blend of storytelling and philosophy. However, empathy is often a complex emotion, and people may react differently to similar situations. How do you suggest we cultivate empathy in ourselves and others, especially in the face of societal divisions?Question 5: "Your speech emphasized the importance of empathy. How can we, as individuals and as a society, foster empathy, particularly in times of division and conflict?"Lastly, to the speaker who presented a vision for the future, your optimism was infectious. However, the road to the future is oftenfraught with uncertainty and unforeseen challenges. How do you plan to stay motivated and dedicated to your vision, and what steps are you taking to prepare for potential obstacles?Question 6: "Your speech painted a hopeful picture of the future. How do you plan to maintain your motivation and dedication to your vision, and what strategies are you employing to prepare for potential challenges?"In conclusion, these questions are not meant to be daunting or critical; rather, they are an opportunity for you to delve deeper into the themes of your speeches and to share more of your thoughts and insights with us.Your responses will not only help us understand your perspectives better but will also inspire us to think critically about the topics at hand.Thank you, and I look forward to hearing your responses. Good luck toall the competitors, and may your speeches leave a lasting impact on us all.Thank you.。
