• On 12 October 1899, the Second Boer War between Britain and the Boer Republics broke out and he obtained a commission to act as war correspondent(战地记者) for The Morning Post. Churchill’s political career began on his military service. After Churchill left Harrow in 1893, he applied to attend the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. It took three attempts before he passed the entrance exam. Sir Winston never intend to follow a conventional career of promotion through army ranks, but to seek out all possible chances of military action and used his mother's and family influence in high society to arrange postings to active campaigns. He’s first victory in parliament was won in 1900 Oldaham general elections for two seats.

Winston Churchill was a British politician and statesman known for his leadership of Britain during the World War II. He is widely regarded as one of the great wartime leaders and a noted orator. He served as Prime Minister twice.
World War II



On the outbreak of World War II, he was again appointed First Lord of the Admiralty. On 10th May, 1940, George VI appointed Churchill as prime minister. Churchill also developed a strong personal relationship with Franklin D. Roosevelt and this led to the sharing and trading of war supplies. The Lend Lease agreement of March 1941 allowed Britain to order war goods from the United States on credit.

Churchill was promoted to President of the Board of Trade in 1918. While in this post he carried through important social legislation including the establishment of employment exchanges.

After being educated at Harrow he went to the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. Churchill joined the Fourth Hussars in 1895 and saw action on the Indian north-west frontier and in the Sudan. Churchill also served under David Lloyd George as Minister of War and Air (1919-20) and Colonial Secretary (1921-22).
Cold War era



Churchill became leader of the opposition and when visiting the United States in March 1946, he made his famous Iron Curtain speech at Fulton, Missouri. He continued to lead the Conservative Party. Churchill returned to power after the 1951 General Election. Won the Nobel Literature Prize
World War II



Churchill worked closely with Franklin D. Roosevelt to ensure victory over Germany, and was also a loyal ally of the Soviet Union. One of the major contributions made by Churchill to eventual victory was his ability to inspire the British people by making public broadcasts on significant occasions.
