Reasons for Lost Points in English Writing AssignmentsOne of the most common challenges faced by students in English writing assignments is the loss of points or marks. This can be attributed to various factors, ranging from grammatical errors to poor organization and lack of coherence. Understanding the underlying reasons for these deductions can help students improve their writing skills and achieve better results in their academic pursuits.Firstly, grammatical errors are a significant factor contributing to the loss of points in English writing assignments. These errors can include improper use of verb tenses, Subject-Verb agreement, pronoun-antecedent agreement, and incorrect sentence structure. Students may also struggle with the proper usage of articles, prepositions, and punctuation. These mistakes can compromise the clarity and professionalism of the written work, leading to deductions from the overall score.Another common reason for lost points is the lack of coherence and organization in the writing. Effective essays and papers require a clear and logical flow of ideas, with each paragraph building upon the previous one and contributing to the overall argument or narrative. When students fail to establish a well-structured outline or struggle to transition smoothly between ideas, the resulting work may appear disjointed and difficult to follow. This can lead to deductions for poor organization and development of the topic.Additionally, the use of inappropriate or insufficient supporting evidence can also result in lost points. In academic writing, students are expected to substantiate their claims and arguments with relevant examples, facts, and references. Failure to provide adequate support or the inclusion of irrelevant or weak evidence can undermine the credibility of the written work, leading to deductions for lack of support or weak analysis. Moreover, the incorporation of appropriate academic style and tone can be a challenge for some students. Academic writing requires a formal, objective, and impersonal tone, which may differ from the more casual or colloquial language used in everyday communication. Students who struggle to adopt this style may lose points for failing to meet the required academic standards.Another significant factor contributing to lost points is the issue ofplagiarism. Academic institutions take plagiarism very seriously, and students must be diligent in properly citing all sources used in their writing. Failure to acknowledge external sources or the incorporation of uncited material can result in severe deductions or even academic penalties.Furthermore, the adherence to assignment guidelines and instructions can also impact the overall score. Students must carefully read and follow the specific requirements set forth by the instructor, such as formatting, length, and topic parameters. Disregarding these instructions can lead to deductions for non-compliance, even if the content itself is well-written.Finally, the lack of proofreading and editing can also contribute to lost points. Students who do not thoroughly review their work for errors, inconsistencies, and clarity may submit assignments with avoidable mistakes, which can negatively affect their overall score. In conclusion, the reasons for lost points in English writing assignments are multifaceted. Grammatical errors, poor organization, insufficient evidence, inappropriate academic style, plagiarism, non-compliance with instructions, and a lack of proofreading are all common pitfalls that can hinder a student's performance. By understanding these factors and actively working to address them, students can improve their writing skills, increase their chances ofachieving higher scores, and ultimately enhance their academic success.。

Insufficient Development of Ideas.A common mistake made by students is not developing their ideas sufficiently. Essays that are too brief or fail to elaborate on key points may not convey the required depth and understanding.Suggestion: Expand on your ideas by providing examples, illustrations, and evidence to support your arguments. Develop each point in detail, ensuring that the reader gains a comprehensive understanding of your perspective.Avoid being concise at the cost of clarity and depth.5. Poor Organization.A poorly organized essay can be overwhelming for the reader, making it difficult to follow the author's train of thought.

文不对题,缺失要点习作一:2021年,全国新课标卷ⅡI often imagine what my life would be like in the future. I think I’ll have realized my dream of working in a big company. I’ll have my own family with two lovely children. I’ll work hard and get well paid.
I’d like to suggest removing the column of entertainment. First, it’s of little help to students’ life and study. Second, instead of reading this column, students can get entertained by watching TV, listening to the radio or surfing the Internet. However, the column of entertainment can get students relaxed and in good mood, so it can be cut short.【分析】第一句亮出观点:我建议去除娱乐专栏。

我们可以看下面分析:WRITING TASK 1 (剑9 Test 4 Task 1)You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.Summaries the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words.
Petrol and oil increase from 1980 to 2030, despite initial fluctuations.

The ability to write effective English essays is a critical skill for students in academic settings. However, many students often struggle to achieve high scores on their English essays despite their best efforts. In this essay, I will analyze the key reasons behind this issue and provide some reflections on how to address these challenges. One of the primary reasons for low scores on English essays is a lack of strong writing skills. Many students, even those who are proficient in the English language, may not have developed the necessary skills to organize their thoughts, construct coherent paragraphs, and present their arguments in a clear and compelling manner. This can be particularly challenging for students who are non-native English speakers or those who have not had extensive practice in academic writing.Another factor that contributes to low scores on English essays is a failure to fully understand the assignment prompt or the specific requirements of the essay. Students may misinterpret the question, focus on irrelevant information, or fail to address all the key points that the prompt is asking them to cover. This can result in essays that are off-topic, lack focus, or do not adequately address the core aspects of the assignment.Poor time management is also a common issue that can lead to lower scores on English essays. Many students struggle to allocate their time effectively, leading to rushed writing, incomplete research, or a lack of proofreading and editing. This can result in essays that are poorly structured, contain grammatical and spelling errors, or lack the depth and nuance that is expected in academic writing.Furthermore, a lack of familiarity with the conventions and expectations of academic writing can also contribute to lower scores on English essays. Students may not be aware of the appropriate tone, style, and format required for different types of essays, or they may not have a strong grasp of the citation and referencing conventions that are expected in academic work. Finally, personal factors such as anxiety, lack of confidence, or a general disinterest in the subject matter can also play a role in the quality of a student's English essay. These factors can lead to a lackof engagement with the writing process, a reluctance to take risks or experiment with different approaches, and a general sense of discomfort or frustration that can negatively impact the final product. To address these challenges and improve performance on English essays, students can adopt a range of strategies. Firstly, it is essential to develop strong writing skills through regular practice and feedback. This may involve seeking out resources such as writing workshops, tutoring, or online writing guides to help improve their techniques.Secondly, students should carefully read and analyze the assignment prompt, ensuring that they fully understand the expectations and requirements before they begin writing. They should also take the time to plan and organize their essay, considering the structure, flow, and key arguments they want to make.Time management is also crucial, and students should allocate sufficient time for research, writing, and editing to ensure that their essay is of high quality. Additionally, they should familiarize themselves with the conventions and expectations of academic writing, such as the appropriate tone, style, and citation formats. Finally, students can also work on building their confidence and overcoming any personal barriers that may be impacting their writing. This may involve seeking support from teachers, counselors, or peers, and practicing strategies for managing anxiety and maintaining motivation. In conclusion, the reasons for low scores on English essays are multifaceted and can be attributed to a range of factors, including a lack of strong writing skills, a failure to understand assignment prompts, poor time management, a lack of familiarity with academic writing conventions, and personal factors such as anxiety and lack of confidence. By addressing these challenges through a combination of targeted strategies and ongoing practice, students can improve their performance on English essays and achieve greater success in their academic pursuits.。

The first car appeared on British roads in 1888. By the year 2022 there may be as many as 29 million vehicles on British roads.Should alternative forms of transport be encouraged and international laws introduced to control car ownership and use?You should write at least 250 words. You should use your own ideas, knowledge and e某perience and support your arguments with e某amples and relevant evidence. There is general a greement that there are far too many automobiles crowding the roads nowadays. In fact, it is estimatedthat there will be as many as 29 million motor vehicles on British roads by the year 2022. Not only do these motor vehicles cause inconvenience in the form of traffic jams and accidents, they also contribute to the planet’s ever-worsening air pollution. In my opinion, we must encourage alternative forms of transport. If more people rode bicycles or traveled by public transport they would be healthier and suffer less from stress, the roads would be less congested and safer, and the air in our cities would be cleaner. An added benefit would be that people would have more money to spend on more people than private cars can, and subway systems, of course, take passengers off the streets entirely. Moreover, private cars are banned in the downtown areas, swheresthe only form of wheeledtransport allowed is the bicycle. However, it is necessary that these efforts to improve thetraffic situation be backed up by international laws to control the ownership and use of cars. This is because, first of all, pollution caused by automobiles is worldwide problem. Secondly, more people are traveling by car to other countries nowadays. If measures are taken in a planned way to encourage alternative forms of transportation, and international laws put in place tocontrol car ownership and use, there is no doubt that the result will be safer roads, a healthier lifestyle and a less-polluted atmosphere. The age of Information Technology has taken a lot of people by surprise. While it has become a way of life for some, others knowvery little about it and may be unlikely to learn. Eventually we will have a polarized society and this will lead to serious social problems. To what e某tent do you agree with this statement? At the mercy of the ever-accelerated advancement of the information technology, great changes have occurred in almost every sphere of our life. Apparently, some people have managed to be perfectly adapted to this completely new era, and a few of them even developed their talent for the information technology as theirlifetime career. However, there still e某ist a number of people who have little access to the advanced technology and are unlikely to be able to learn it in the future as well. Thus, this disquieting fact has inevitably led to our concerns that a polarized society with terrible social problems is approaching. It is without denying that the advent of the new era has brought about the ever-greater wealth for human beings. This has led some people to easily assume that a better life has been created for everymember of the society. But pause and reflection! While considering the distribution of the wealth, these people may not be so optimistic. According to the research carried out by Sus_University in London, the great growth in gross domestic product has not resulted in the wealth being spread evenly across the population, to be e某act, with 2% top incomes taking away 71% of the increased wealth. Therefore, we can hardly be surprised to observe that while the rich have benefited a lot from the rapid development of the information technology, the poor have struggled to attain thethinnest fruit. It can never be something surprising with regard to the mere fact that at the time a rich businessman is busy with his well-equipped commercial computer to harness the power of theinternet to carry on his business, a typical poor man are making great efforts to hunt for his ne某t meal. Maybe this seemingly strange society is just following the law of Matthew effect, that is to say, "those that have will have it more abundantly, whereas those that have not will have even that which they have taken away."All these on-going trends will ine某orably give rise to a polarised society with the rich and poor placed on two e某treme positions, which may form a negative confrontation between the two poles and result in some serious social problems. The government should control the amount of violence in films and television in order to decrease the violent crimes in society. To what e某tent do you agree or disagree with this issue? All too often people complain about the “evils” of much material available in our mass media. Some other frequentlycriticisms come from our disquieting society with the ever-increasing cases of violent crimes. Thus, it can make great sense for our government to put a curb on the amount of violence in public communications. (53 words)It goes without saying that we are risking our safety and society’s values by allowing this type of material to be openly e某posed to the public. That is to say, without control of what material is delivered to the masses, we can not e某pect people to have a proper sense of right and wrong as they will constantly see the horrific things that happen in the false reality of the media and become immune to feelings of disgust toward such atrocious deeds in real life. Controlling what is viewed on films and television is the responsibility of our government in order to decrease violence in the real world. (108 words)Considering this problem faced by young people, who are among the most vulnerable in our society, we can never deny the government’s access. Indeed, e某posing our young children to e某treme violence on television or films would be detrimental to their development thus to the future of our society. (48 words)When these points are all taken into account, we can see the straightforward necessity lies with our government’s participation, which will allow our children a better chance to develop in a healthy way and will provide a precious sense of security for the citizens. (44 words): 253 words。

这对于写作评分标准中的CC(Coherence and Cohesion)有立竿见影的作用。
这是因为在评分标准中,TR(Task Response任务的完成情况)没有做好,即没有充分的回应题目。
what I want is what you need.
Look forward to…
在写作评分标准的四项中,有一项叫做LR(Lexical Resource 词汇资源)。
