主语是单数名词或不可数名词时用there is,主语是名词的复数形式时用there are。
如:①There is a baby elephant in the zoo.(动物园里有一只小象。
)这句子的主语为可数名词单数形式,地点状语也可以放在句首:In the zoo there is a baby elephant.②There is some bread on the table.(桌子上有一些面包。

1.教师指着黑板上课本第9页的第一幅图说:“Sally’s father takes his children to
the zoo. Kate w ants to see elephants.Where are the elephants?”
2.教师播放课文录音或CD-ROM,学生边听边看书,然后在书上画出答案:behind
the hill。
教师教学这个词组。
(1)教师出示一幅mountain的图片和一幅hill的图片,教学单词hill。
(2)教师拿出大象的图片,摆放在不同的位置,请学生说一说大象的位置,巩固behind与beside的用法,如:
behind/beside the hill
behind/beside the door
behind/beside the desk
…
3.学习there be句型。
(1)教师在黑板上分别出示“一只象在小山前”和“一群象在小山前”的图片和下面两个句子。
There is an elephant behind the hill.
There are some elephants behind the hill.
(2)教师带领学生读一读这两个句子,并请学生说一说这两个句子的异同点。
(3)教师告诉学生,there be句型表示的是“某处有(存在)某人或某物”,其结构为There be+名词+地点状语(地点状语也可以放在句首)。
主语是单数名词或不可数名词时用there is,主语是名词的复数形式时用there are。
(4)出示一些图片,请学生看图说话,巩固there be句型的用法。
4. 教师再提出问题:“The elephants are behind the hill.How does Sally’s father get

(1)出示单词bag来学习单词map的发音。

(二)再读课文并学习描述动物大小、外观等句子
1.教师出示课本的第三幅图说:“Look,they are looking at the elephants.What do they say about the elephants?”
2.学生自读对话,然后请个别学生来说一说,教师在大象的图旁板书:so tall and big,在小象的图旁板书lovely。
并读一读第三段对话。
3.教师再出示一些动物图片,请学生描述,教师板书相应的形容词,如:

lovely
interesting
clever big
fat
cute
4.出示句子Let me take a photo of it.请学生说说句中的it指什么。
5.情感教育:
观看一小段动物幼崽的视频或图片,激发爱的情感。
(三)熟读对话并进行角色扮演
1.教师播放课文录音或CD-ROM,学生模仿跟读。
2.给学生几分钟时间读熟对话内容,不会读的可请教同学或老师。
