int. mir onelovett and bodine jerk awake at the landing.anatoly(heavy russian accent)we are here.ext. / int. mir one and two5 minutes later: the two subs skim over the seafloor to the sound of sidescan sonar and the thrum of big thrusters.6 the featureless gray clay of the bottom unrolls in the lights of the subs. bodine is watching the sidescan sonar display, where the outline of a huge pointed object is visible. anatoly lies prone, driving the sub, his face pressed to the center port.bodinecome left a little. she's right in front of us, eighteen meters. fifteen. thirteen... you out the front port, with the camera aimed at himself at arm's length.lovettit still gets me every time... to see the sad ruin of the great ship sitting long fall from the world above.anatoly rolls his eyes and mutters in russian. bodine chuckles and watches the sonar.bodineyou are so full of shit, boss.7 mir two drives aft down the starboard side, past the huge anchor while mir one passes over the seemingly endless forecastle deck, with its massiveanchor chains still laid out in two neat rows, its bronze windlass caps gleaming. the 22 foot long subs are like white bugs next to the enormous wreck.lovett (v.o.)dive nine. here we are again on the deck of titanic... two and a half miles down. the pressure is three tons per square inch, enough to crush us like a freight train going over an ant if our hull fails. these windows are nineinches thick and if they go, it's sayonara in two microseconds.8 mir two lands on the boat deck, next to the ruins of the officer'squarters. mir one lands on the roof of the deck house nearby.lovettright. let's go to work.bodine slips on a pair of 3-d electronic goggles, and grabs the joystickcontrols of the rov.9 outside the sub, the rov, a small orange and black robot called snoop dog,lifts from its cradle and flies forward.bodine (v.o.)walkin' the dog.snoop dog drives itself away from the sub, paying out its umbilical behindit like a robot yo-yo. its twin stereo-video cameras swivel like insecteyes. the rov descends through an open shaft that once was the beautifulfirst class grand staircase.snoop dog goes down several decks, then moves laterally into the first class reception room.snoop's video pov, moving through the cavernous interior. the remains of the ornate handcarved woodwork which gave the ship its elegance move through the floodlights, the lines blurred by slow dissolution and descending rusticle formations. stalactites of rust hang down so that at times it looks like anatural grotto, then the scene shifts and the lines of a ghostly undersea mansion can be seen again.montage style, as snoop passes the ghostly images of titanic's opulence:10 a grand piano in amazingly good shape, crashed on its side against awall. the keys gleam black and white in the lights.11 a chandelier, still hanging from the ceiling by its wire... glinting assnoop moves around it.12 its lights play across the floor, revealing a champagne bottle, then some white star line china... a woman's high-top 'granny shoe'. then something eerie: what looks like a child's skull resolves into the porcelain head of adoll.snoop enters a corridor which is much better preserved. here and there adoor still hangs on its rusted hinges. an ornate piece of moulding, a wall sconce... hint at the grandeur of the past.13 the rov turns and goes through a black doorway, entering room b-52, thesitting room of a 'promenade suite', one of the most luxurious staterooms ontitanic.bodinei'm in the sitting room. heading for bedroom b-54.lovettstay off the floor. don't stir it up like you did yesterday.bodinei'm tryin' boss.glinting in the lights are the brass fixtures of the near-perfectlypreserved fireplace. an albino galathea crab crawls over it. nearby are theremains of a divan and a writing desk. the dog crosses the ruins of the onceelegant room toward another door. it squeezes through the doorframe,scraping rust and wood chunks loose on both sides. it moves out of a cloudof rust and keeps on going.bodinei'm crossing the bedroom.the remains of a pillared canopy bed. broken chairs, a dresser. through thecollapsed wall of the bathroom, the porcelain commode and bathtub tookalmost new, gleaming in the dark.lovettokay, i want to see what's under that wardrobe door.several angles as the rov deploys its manipulator arms and starts winch cable.we are on the russian research vessel akademik mistislav keldysh. a crowdhas gathered, including most of the crew of keldysh, the sub crews, and ahand-wringing money guy named bobby buell who represents the limitedpartners. there is also a documentary video crew, hired by lovett to coverhis moment of glory.everyone crowds around the safe. in the background mir two is being loweredinto its cradle on deck by a massive hydraulic arm. mir one is alreadyrecovered with lewis bodine following brock lovett as he bounds over to thesafe like a kid on christmas morning.bodinewho's the best? a kind of casual modesty. she is on an empire divan, in a pool of lightthat seems to radiate outward from her eyes. scrawled in the lower rightthe girl is not entirely nude. at her throat is a diamond necklace with onelarge stone hanging in the center.lovett grabs a reference photo from the clutter on the lab table. it is aperiod black-and-white photo of a diamond necklace on a black velvetjeller's I've probably watched it a hundred times and I never get bored.The movie starts in the present day when a crew is exploring the wreckage of the real Titanic ship at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. They discover a safe with a really cool antique drawing of a naked woman inside. An old lady named Rose gets wind of this and goes to see the drawing because it's actually her! When she was a young woman of 17 in 1912, she went on the hugely famous maiden voyage of the Titanic. The rest of the movie flashes back to tell her incredible story on that ship.Rose was a rich girl from Philadelphia who had to travel on the ship with her snooty mom and wealthy fiance Cal, who she didn't really love. Rose felt like she was trapped in a gilded cage with no freedom or choices of her own. She was so unhappy that she almost killed herself by trying to jump off the back of the ship! But then she's miraculously saved by a heroic, handsome guy named Jack Dawson.Jack is totally different from all the rich snobs on the ship. He's a poor artist from Wisconsin who won his Titanic tickets in a lucky hand of poker. From the first moment they meet, Rose and Jack have an incredible connection and undeniable chemistry. There are such sparks between them! Despite coming from totally different worlds, they quickly fall in head-over-heels love.Jack shows Rose how to really embrace life and live every moment to the fullest. Would Rose choose to stay with her boring life of money and privilege or get away with Jack for a life of freedom and true love?The climax of course is when the ship tragically strikes an iceberg and begins sinking on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic. It's horrifying to watch but totally gripping. There's panic as everyone rushes for the too-few lifeboats while the "women and children first" policy leaves many men, including Jack, stuck on board the doomed ship. Rose has to make the heart-wrenching choice between saving herself or staying on the sinking Titanic with Jack.The sinking scenes are easily the most incredible part of the film. With groundbreaking special effects, you feel like you're really there as the massive ship cracks in half, water rushes in from all sides, and people are tragically killed or washed away by the overpowering current. It's all so intense and emotional, especially when Jack helps Rose onto a piece of driftwood but then sacrifices himself by staying in the freezing cold water. Their tearful goodbye as Jack slowly freezes while the ship goes down is absolutely heartbreaking. I always sob during that scene!All in all, Titanic is an amazing movie that really has it all - action, adventure, romance, drama, well-developed characters you really care about, and edge-of-your-seat thrills and suspense. It's nearly flawless in my book. Even though the ship sank over a hundred years ago, this film brings that tragichistorical event so vividly to life with amazing attention to historical detail. It transports you right back to 1912 and you really feel like you've gone through that monumental voyage and disaster.The special effects and cinematography are spectacular, especially during the incredibly realistic sinking scenes. I've watched behind-the-scenes footage of how they actually rocked the ship set with massive hydraulics and filled it with millions of gallons of water to get those harrowing shots. It's crazy the lengths the filmmakers went to for authenticity!The acting is also phenomenal and really makes you connect with Rose and Jack's grand love story. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet were perfectly cast and have off-the-charts chemistry together. I cry every time during that heartbreaker of an ending when the elderly Rose finally reunites with Jack in the afterlife by dropping the priceless "Heart of the Ocean" diamond into the sea at the wreck site. Their love transcended life and death, which is just too romantic for words!Titanic has definitely earned its reputation as one of the greatest films ever made. It's an exquisitely crafted masterpiece that thoroughly transports you to another time and place while completely capturing your heart. It's nearly perfect and willdefinitely be a film that's remembered forever. I can't recommend this iconic movie enough - it will absolutely become your new favorite too after watching it! Just keep an entire box of tissues nearby because you're going to need them by the end.。
