Social networks are a big part of nearly every teenager's life in this day and age. Many teens have QQ, WeChat, or Weibo but little do a lot of teens know that they can be held responsible for everything they post for the rest of their lives. Everything you post online is part of a digital footprint that can always be traced(追踪)back to you. That includes every post, even every like, comment, favorite and forward that you have ever committed. All pictures you' ve posted or will post have been stored in a digital database, and it is the companies' right to keep all of these documents that you believe to have been deleted or hidden. With every post comes a consequence; whether it is good or bad, what you post could be seen by anyone. That is why you have to be very careful of what you decide to post or comment. If you think you are safe from Servite finding out about one funny comment you made six months ago on a meaningless picture, you are probably wrong. Recently, a senior, Aaron, at Servite learned this lesson the hard way this year. He wrote a series of ugly comments towards Connelly girls on a web page, ignoring potential consequences. This student, however, did have to face consequences from Servite as he was removed from all of his leadership roles in the school. Surprisingly enough, he fully agreed with his punishment handed down by the administration and fully understood why he was given such severe discipline(处罚)."When you agree to come to Servite, you are agreeing to defend what Servite stands for, ” the young man said. “That continues from 8 a. m.to 2 p. m. It' s at all times.”So, next time you' re about to post something you think could be received as offensive or inappropriate, think twice, or don' t press the "Send".【解题导语】本文是一篇议论文。

Unit 4 Astronomy the science of the stars李仕才***阅读理解。
May Day, the first day of May, is celebrated as a spring festival in many countries. It marks the approach of summer. The English developed their May Day festival from the Roman festival called Floralia. In the festival of Floralia, the Romans gathered flowers to honor the goddess of spring, Flora. In the Middle Ages, May Day became the favorite holiday of many English villages. People gathered flowers to decorate their homes and churches, sang spring songs and chose a king and a queen of May. Villagers danced around a tall pole fixed upright in the ground, called a maypole, each holding the end of a ribbon attached to the top of the pole. They tied the ribbons around the pole until it was covered with bright colors. They collected dew(露水)on May Day morning and washed their faces with it because they believed that the dew on the day had the magic power to regain youth.Nowadays in Britain people no longer attach great importance to the day, but in some towns and villages people still celebrate it by choosing the May Queen and dancing around the maypole. May Queen is a girl selected as the most beautiful girl on May Day. She is usually crowned with flowers and often driven in procession through the street. In the United States, the day has never been celebrated with the same enthusiasm as in Britain. But in many American towns and cities, children celebrate the day with dancing and singing. They often gather flowers in handmade paper baskets and hang them on the doorknobs of the homes of their friends’ and neighbor s’ on May Day morning. At May Day parties, children select May Queen, dance around the maypole, and sing May Day songs.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文。

Unit 4 Astronomy the science of the stars李仕才一、阅读理解。
Life can be so wonderful, full of adventure and joy. It can also be full of challenges, setbacks(挫折) and heartbreaks. Whatever our circumstances, we generally still have dreams, hopes and desires that little something more we want for ourselves and our loved ones. Yet knowing we can have more can also create a problem, because when we go to change the way we do things, up come the old patterns and pitfalls(陷阱) that stopped us from seeking what we wanted in the first place. This tension between what we feel we can have and what we’re seemingly able to have is the niggling(烦人的)suffering, the anxiety we feel. This is where we usually think it’s easier to just give up. But we’re never meant to let go of part of us that knows we can have more. The intelligence behind that knowing is us — the real us. It’s the part that believes in the life and its possibilities. If you drop that, you begin to feel a little "dead" inside because you’re dropping "you".So, if we have this capability but somehow life seems to keep us stuck, how do we break these patterns?Decide on a new course and make one decision at a time. This is good advice for a new adventure or just getting through today’s challenges. While, deep down, we know we can do it, our mind — or the minds of those close to us — usually says we can’t. That isn’t a reason to stop, it’s just the mind, that little man or woman on your shoulder, trying to talk you out of something again. It has done it many times before. It’s all about starting simple and doing it now.Decide and act before overthinking. When you do this you may feel a little, or large, release from the jail of your mind and you’ll be on your way.1. It can be inferred from the first two paragraphs that we should ________.A. slow down and live a simple lifeB. be careful when we choose to changeC. stick to our dreams under any circumstancesD. be content with what we already have2. What is the key to breaking the old patterns?A. To focus on every detail.B. To decide and take immediate action.C. To listen to those close to us.D. To think twice before we act.3. Which of the following best explains the underlined part in the last paragraph?A. Escape from your punishment.B. Realization of your dreams.C. Freedom from your tension.D. Reduction of your expectations.4. What does the author intend to tell us?A. It’s easier than we think to get what we want.B. It’s important to learn to accept sufferings in life.C. It’s impractical to change our way of thinking.D. It’s harder than we expect to follow a new course.【文章大意】本文是一篇议论文。

Unit 4 Astronomy the science of the stars李仕才一、阅读理解。
The Internet plays a big part in human life. We use it for work and entertainment. We can find new recipes on the Internet or advice on staying healthy. We can even use it to learn a new language. We use the Internet to connect with family and friends and stay in touch with issues we care about. The list goes on and on.As far as the Internet being a part of our lives—well, that train has left the station. That expression means there is no going back. If you prefer boating, you can say that ship has sailed. So, there may be no going back to an Internet-free life. But can using the Internet too much be bad for our health? It might be, say researchers.Study results show that teens who spend at least 14 hours a week online were more likely to have high blood pressure.High blood pressure makes your heart and blood vessels work too hard. Over time, this extra strain increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke.High blood pressure can also cause heart and kidney disease. It is also closely linked to some forms of dementia, a brain disease. Dementia is marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and a reduced ability to reason.Let’s introduce something about the study of it.The Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan did the study. It involved 335 young people, from 14 to 17 years old. One hundred thirty-four of the teens were described as “heavy Internet users”. Researchers found that out of these 134 teens, 26 had high blood pressure. The researchers say the study is the first to connect heavy web use and high blood pressure. Other research has connected that heavy Internet use with health problems including anxiety, depression and obesity. The lead researcher of the study is Andrea Cassidy-Bushrow. In a statement she said, “Using the Internet is part of our daily life but it shouldn’t consume us. ”For the purpose of the study, she explains, teens considered heavy Internet users were online on “average 25 hours a week. ”Ms Cassidy-Bushrow adds that it is important for teens to take “regular breaks from their computers or smartphones” and to do some “kind of physical activity. ”She also suggests that parents limit their children’s use of the Internet to two hours a day, five days a week.【文章大意】互联网如此有用并且融入我们的生活, 但过度使用它, 会导致多种健康问题。

Ⅰ.阅读理解AHow often have you read a story that a friend or family member has sent you?Very likely you would have skipped the news had it not been pointed out to you.Traditionally newspapers and famous TV channels have been our source of authentic news. But these days with the popularity of social media, sharing stories is increasingly becoming a favorite source of news.In fact, research suggests that more than half the people get their news today from social media such as Facebook,Twitter and Google.Social media sites often aggregate contents for us to see based on trending topics—stories that have been viewed by many others as well as based on our own past searches and analysis of our likes and dislikes. If you have liked kittens in the past, you may have noticed that you are seeing more news, blogs and analysis about kittens all of a sudden. While advocates of free speech do not want to control any voice,it is certainly harmful when it is difficult to separate truth from fiction.Imagine the influence of fake(虚假的) news when it begins to affect our own lives.Trusting a piece of news, patients could very easily fall for wrong diagnosis; elders could give money to cheats and reputation of perfectly upright citizens could be easily ruined. What about when we research for a school project and base our analysis on false information or news?Mark Zukerberg has finally acknowledged the issue.Among several projects that the company is considering,Facebook is trying to take powerful measures to crack down on false news. This would include warning labels on fake contents.Fake news also makes a lot of profits from advertising.Google and Facebook have said they will limit advertising profits on their network from such sites. The bottom line—don't believe every word of what you read.Do more research from multiple (多样的) sources to ensure that the news is indeed true before you share with others.[语篇解读]本文为一篇说明文。

答案:BBRun out of cooking oil or need some dressing for your salad? The solution may be insects from your backyard!Scientists are turning insects into a source of healthy oil.Even though insects are a food source in some parts of the world,to many people, the thought of eating them is very disgusting.“In the western countries, there is no culture of eating entire insects,so when the idea is to use the protein in powder as an ingredient, people might tend to receive this protein better even if they cannot see it,”said researcher Daylan Tzompas-Sosa,Wageningen University,Netherlands.“There are many uses for the oil in general, but we are investigating the use of these oils for a food,as a food ingredient.”The Mexican researcher, working in the Netherlands, said insects are a great source of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which can help treat anxiety disorder symptoms.Backing up the increased reliance on insects is the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. In a 2013 report, the UN agency allowed the cultivation of bugs as a food source, saying it's environmentally friendly and could boost the world's food production. There are clear reasons why experts advise people to eat the insects.Experts say insects require little food to grow and the backyard can be a good place to raise them. And there's no shortage of protein-rich insects, which contain fat, vitamins, fiber and minerals.Researchers say different bugs provide unique tastes and textures.“This is very liquid and it has a different color,so this can be used as a dressing for example and it's easy to use and this can be used for example for pastry, because for pastry you need hard fats,”stated Tzompas-Sosa.But not all insects produce good oil.Cockroaches don't.The bug oils must be tested to make sure they are safe to consume. But getting over the “ick factor” may be a bigger challenge.[语篇解读]本文是一篇说明文。
