这既减慢了阅读的速度，又会使学生不能准确地理解全文而只停留在某个单词，短语或句子上，使学生所获得的信息支离破碎，最终导致理解上的偏差，这些都是阅读英语不好的习惯。
要使学生的英语阅读有所提高，就要培养学生良好的英语阅读习惯。
首先要考虑学生自身的喜好和素质，帮助学生选材。
其次，在阅读的过程中要给小学生一定的提示，文章的长短要把握适当。
再次，在阅读的过程中要让学生了解“猜”的重要性及如何去猜词。
最后，要让学生明白，英语阅读也有不同的种类，大量的阅读是必须的。
在各种使用领域和语言场景中，个人的语言掌控和运用能力的提高离不开大量的阅读积累，而个人综合素质的提高更是需要丰富的阅读实践和广泛的阅读范围。
