（一）
在我很小的时候，听父亲讲：府谷县的高梁村有个姓张的老头，是村里的饲养员，他负责每天喂养生产队的牲口，有牛，驴，马子。
张老头偏爱一匹马，这匹马干活勤快，从不偷懒。
因此，他总是多给这匹马吃草料。
每天夜晚起来，都要给马加点草。
因为村子在山上，缺水，张老汉每天要赶着一群牲口到沟低饮水。
到沟低要下一道很长的坡。
有年冬天，下了一场大雪，坡背阴，雪好长时间没有融化，经过踩踏，走车，后来成了冰坡；人走上去打滑，车行走也打滑。
有一天，张老汉照旧领着一群牲口去饮水，一不小心滑倒了。

后来生产队解散了，包产到户，分牲口，张老汉出高价要了这匹马，从此以后，马一直陪伴着老人，老张的儿女在外工作，老伴去世的早，腿疼行走不方便，有时候拿东西，马常用嘴帮老人拿，老张晒太阳，马就守在跟前。

一直到老张去世。
（二）
羊也懂得人的话。
小时候，我要照看妹妹、弟弟。
还要喂猪喂羊。
记得那年我只有十岁，家里的大母羊生了一只小半糕。
这个大羊缺奶水，妈妈说小羊估计很难成活了！我看着它十分可爱，心里难过，想着一定要喂活它。
在那个饿人的年代，家里都分饭吃。
妈妈每顿都分一个粗粮高梁面馍给我，我啥不得吃，多一半都用嘴饺碎喂了小羊糕，农村小孩偶尔吃点炒杂豆，我却常啥不得吃，都咬碎喂了小羊。
后来羊终于活下来了，它长的很健壮，还长出两只小角。
我的妹妹、弟弟小，弟弟在炕上用绳子拴在小磨上，妹妹刚会走路，也常在炕上。
外面小孩子们玩耍，我也想出去，可是没人照看孩子。
左思石想，就把我刚能抱动的小羊放在炕塄上，教它用角吓唬弟弟、妹妹。
试范几次，我走到门口，妹妹、弟弟就从炕底向上爬，小羊用角一抵，他俩就原退回去，不敢上前。
我很开心的笑了！
这样，只要母亲一出去，我就把小羊抱上炕头，跑出去疯玩，等妈妈快回来，赶快把小羊抱出去，天天如此。
天开始冻了！妈妈说能杀羊了，要杀了小羊卖点钱。
我却偷偷的伤心哭，不知道如何才能救下这只羊。
有一天，家
里人都睡下了，我偷偷摸摸起来，妈妈问干嘛呢？我慌称肚子不舒服，出去拉肚子。
妈妈一天干活累了，没说什么又睡着了。
我出去把羊放出来，打开大门，对羊说：你快逃命吧！他们那些人要杀你，羊回头看看我，就向外跑去！
第二天，妈妈说羊不见了！我装做没听见，天黑羊也回来，一家人满村找，一直没找到。
我心里想，小羊快点跑吧，永远也别回家！果真它一直没有回来。
