This American hero is not a church member in his adulthood, and has always been skeptical of the various theological views of American Christian traditions. He said: "From the ideological point of view, I can not unreservedly agree with the lengthy and complex doctrines and teachings." However, the contradiction is that Lincoln is indulging in the "Bible" (and Shakespeare [Shakespeare]) words and stories And keep in mind the teachings of his mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, in his Christian ethics. One of the reasons why Lincoln became president after he was not allowed to be attached to any church was that he did not want to bring a greater division to a country that had been seriously divided on slavery because of his own sect. However, he continued to worship the St. John's Episcopal Church (Lafayette Square) in Lafayette Square on the morning of the inauguration as several successors, such as George W. Bush. New York Avenue Presbyterian Church (New York Avenue Presbyterian Church) held a weekly prayer session, Lincoln also like to take the opportunity to slip into the Presbyterian pastor Phineas Gerry (Phineas Gurley) study. Because the door leading to the main hall of the open, he can hear what peoplesay, at the same time not to be seen and cause the possible fuss.Lincoln always stood and prayed. Once, one of the Presbyterian churches asked him why he stood. He replied, "When my generals come to the White House, it is inappropriate to see their commander in charge of the Oval Office.Gerry is not only Lincoln's friend and shepherd, he is also a prayer for the soldiers. Lincoln used a metaphor rather than a straightforward way to say, "I have been repeatedly driven by a strong sense of guilt, and my wisdom seems to be less than needed. It is Lincoln's willingness to attract almost all cultures and times in a wide range of extreme humility and never the promise of the Christian faith. People often quote from what he said when refuting the priest who sincerely wanted God to stand on the side of the federation. Lincoln replied; "I do not care about this, because I know that the Lord is always on the side of justice, but I am always anxious and prayed that I and the country are standing on the side of the Lord.President Lincoln during the Civil War, often quietly walked into St. John's Church prayer.Brutal war and personal misfortune, in Lincoln's heart and appearance left a deep imprint. Whenever he needs a guide, he will read "Old Testament Job". "We must follow the will of God to give us the will to act seriously, and faith in doing so will help to achieve the ultimate will." This catastrophe does not have a mortal can be made, nor a mortal can contain. "In the second in 1865 In his speech, his political strategy and faith have been integrated. On the same day that Lincoln vowed to remove the alcohol problem, a young man named John Booth stepped into the tavern and poured a few glasses of yellow soup. Another young man just left the post of the President's box, pacing to the bar on the street to drink. The young man mentioned earlier to take advantage of this sentry posture, quietly unscrew the door of the President's box. Lincoln continued to his wife and said, "We're going to be born to Bethlehem." Booth walked into the presidential box quietly. Raise the gun toward the head of Lincoln ...The most crazy gunshots in history were loud, and the bullets passed straight through Lincoln's head. He was immediately sent to the opposite street. Prior to that, he wrotea letter to the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, indicating that he had now believed in the Lord and had asked him to declare his faith in Easter Sunday - but Lincoln But went on the night of the Friday morning. Secretary of War Stanton (Edwin Stanton) lie down and looked at the twisted body, he said: "Here lies the world's most perfect leader.

Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth upon this continent a new Nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now, we are engaged in a great Civil War,testing whether that Nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting-place for those who gave their lives that Nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated to the great task remaining before us; that from these honored dead, we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion; that this Nation, under GOD, shall have a new birth of freedom;and that government of the People by the People and for the People shall not perish from the earth.
