考试步骤和考试要求分述如下：考试步骤：中级口语考试由以下四个步骤组成：●考官与考生相互问候和介绍(1分钟)；●考官与考生进行自由对话(3分钟)；●考生讲述事先准备的话题(话题围参见(人人说英语》中级教材)(2—3分钟)，回答考官提问(2-3分钟)；●结束考试，考生退场。
目标描述：通过中级口语考试的人员应该能够：●主动与考官打招呼，并相互问候；●进行礼节性交谈；●谈论本人或他人的基本情况，包括个人、家庭、同事、朋友、工作、业余生活等；●谈论过去发生的事情，将来的打算或安排；●表达疑问，提出简单问题；●就人、事、物等进行简单比较；●表达简单的情感和感觉，如：喜欢和不喜欢；●表达个人的选择；●表达各种可能性；●有效地询问信息和请求帮助；●讲述良己准备的话题；●回答与话题有关的问题，表达简单的观点和意见；●就考官引出的话题与考官进行几个回合的交谈，反应迅速；●熟练掌握与本行业工作有关的各种用语，直接与外国人进行交流。
三、评价标准市英语口语等级证书考试的评分采取以整体印象法为主，同时兼顾分项打分的办法。
中级考试采用整体印象法打分的合格标准见大纲第4页。
采用分项打分的合格标准为：领悟及反应：考生能够听懂考官的要求，并对考官所提问题做出恰当的回答，能够完成该级目标描述中提出的要求。
语音语调：语音语调基本正确，能使考官听懂所说出的话。
受母语影响，考生偶尔会给对方造成理解上的困难。
词汇语法：熟悉与日常生活和自身工作有关的词汇，掌握了基本的语法结构和常用句型，能够有效地运用所学材料与考官进行交流；遣词造句时，没有严重的语法和词汇错误，偶尔会有词不达意现象。
互动交际：在熟练运用所学材料的基础上，使用简单的句子完成—般的口头交际任务，交际中会出现犹豫、停顿或重复现象；能够使用功能性语言或技巧维持交流或进行交流补救。
连贯表达：交流中基本做到言之有物，能够使用一些简单的衔接词，如“and”、“then”或“because”等来表达自己的意思；交流基本顺畅，但因组织思路或语言偶尔出现停顿。
