1Changes in Our Class this YearWow, what a year it has been in our 4th-grade class! So many things have changed since the start of the school year back in September. Our classroom looks totally different, we have some new students, and even a few new teachers. I'm going to tell you all about the biggest changes we've had this year.New Classroom SetupLet me first describe how our actual classroom is set up differently now compared to the beginning of the year. When we first walked in on that first day back in September, the desks were all arranged in rows facing the front chalkboard. That's how classrooms are typically set up, right? We all had our assigned desks and sat in the same spot every day.Well, a few months into the school year, our teacher Mrs. Jones decided to switch things up. She rearranged all the desks into groups of four or five desks instead of rows. At first, we were confused by this new arrangement. But Mrs. Jones explained thatworking together in small groups would help us learn better and cooperate as a team.I have to admit, the new desk setup took some getting used to. We were so accustomed to just facing forward and listening to the teacher lecture. But with the desks clustered together, we were suddenly expected to discuss lessons and assignments with our group mates. It was noisier in the classroom for sure, but also more interactive and engaging.I really like working with my group now. We help each other understand confusing concepts, and we get to know our group mates better as friends. Even though it was an adjustment, I think the new desk arrangement has been a positive change that makes learning more fun and collaborative.New ClassmatesAnother major change this year was the arrival of some new students to our class about halfway through the school year. Three new kids joined our 4th-grade class after moving into the school district with their families.Juan transferred from a school in California after his dad got a new job here. Mia came from the neighboring town after her parents went through a divorce. And Omar was actually born inSomalia and just recently immigrated to the United States with his family. At first, it was a bit awkward having these new students joining our class midway through the year. We already had our established friend groups, classroom routines, and inside jokes that the new kids weren't a part of. A few students weren't very welcoming at first, which was unfair to Juan, Mia, and Omar. But after a few weeks, we all started making more of an effort to make them feel included. We invited them to join our groups for projects and to sit with us at lunch. We helped explain things they had missed from the first half of the school year. Slowly but surely, the new students started coming out of their shells more. Now near the end of the school year, Juan, Mia, and Omar have blended right in and made new friends. They've definitely enriched our classroom and taught us about their unique cultures and experiences. While having new students show up unexpectedly was an adjustment, I'm glad we could make them feel welcome. Our class really is stronger with their diverse perspectives and backgrounds.New TeacherProbably the biggest change of all was when our beloved teacher Mrs. Jones went on maternity leave in January to have her baby. We were so sad to see her go, but also really excited for her to become a new mom.In her place, we got a long-term substitute teacher named Mr. Robertson to take over until the end of the school year. At first, we were all pretty apprehensive about this change. Mrs. Jones had been our teacher since the beginning, so we were comfortable with her teaching style and classroom management. Who was this new guy, and how strict would he be?Mr. Robertson definitely had a very different teaching style than we were used to. Instead of lecturing at the chalkboard, he had us do a lot more hands-on activities and group work. He took us outside for "nature walks" around campus to learn about science concepts in the real world. He even taught us coding on classroom tablets and had us build simple apps and games. His approach was shocking at first because it was such a change of pace from Mrs. Jones. But I have to admit, Mr. Robertson's interactive lessons were really engaging and fun. Suddenly, topics that seemed dull as textbook chapters came alive when we could apply them through projects andexploration. While we all missed Mrs. Jones, we came to appreciate Mr. Robertson's innovative teaching methods too.My Reflections on Our YearAs I look back on all the major changes we experienced this year, I realize how much I've grown from being challenged with new situations. At first, any change is uncomfortable and difficult. We naturally resist anything unfamiliar or different from our routines and what we're used to.But now I see how important and beneficial it is to adapt to changes in a positive way. The new desk arrangement helped me learn collaboration. The new students taught me about diversity and made our class more inclusive. And the new teacher expanded my learning through creative, hands-on methods. While change can absolutely be hard, it builds resilience and expands your perspective. I used to dread any disruption to my normal habits and surroundings. But now after experiencing so much change this school year, I welcome it as an opportunity to grow and see things through a new lens. These changes in our class have made me a more flexible, accepting person who can roll with the punches.Who knows what changes next year will bring? I'm sure there will be new challenges and adjustments in the 5th grade. But after this year, I'm not going to resist the changes. Instead, I'll embrace them with an open mind as chances to continue learning and developing as a student and person. Bring on the changes – I'm ready!篇2My Class is Changing and It's Really DifferentMy name is Timmy and I'm in the 4th grade. A lot of things in my class have changed this year and it's been really different and kind of strange. I wanted to tell you all about what's different because it's been such a big deal.First of all, we got a whole bunch of new students in our class. At the start of the year, there were only 18 kids including me. But then over the first few months, we got 6 new students! Their names are Aisha, Benjamin, Carlos, Daniela, Emily, and Farid. Some of them moved to our town from other places and some of them just switched from other classes at our school. At first, having all those new kids was really hard. We had to rearrange the desks to fit everybody and some of us had to move our usual seats. I didn't like that because I had a good seatbefore where I could see the board pretty well and didn't have any distractions around me. But with the new kids, I got moved across the room to a spot withmore distractions. It was also really noisy at first with the new kids joining and everybody trying to make new friends. Normally our class is pretty quiet and calm, but for a few weeks it was just chaos. The new kids didn't know our class rules or routines yet so they were always asking questions and making noise. A couple of them even got in trouble with Mrs. Parker, our teacher, for goofing off too much. But slowly, things started to get back to normal. The new kids learned the rules, where to hang up their backpacks, when we have special classes like art or gym, and all that stuff. And we all started getting to know each other better. Some of the new kids are actually pretty cool!Farid is really good at math and he helped me a bunch with the last few units we did. I used to be one of the best math students, but now there are a couple kids who are even better than me. Daniela is an amazing artist - she can draw anything from memory. And Carlos plays on a travel soccer team and knows everything about every professional soccer/futbol team and player. It's crazy!Having them in our class means there is a bigger mix of ability levels now for different subjects. In reading, writing, math, art, you name it - we've got some struggle students, some in the middle, and some who are really advanced. So Mrs. Parker has to work extra hard to give different assignments and help to all the different levels. She's had to change how she teaches quite a bit. Instead of just teaching one math or reading lesson to the whole class together, she has to break us into groups a lot. The higher kids will go off and do more advanced work. The medium kids will follow along with her core lesson. And then she'll work closer with the kids who need more help. It's pretty noisy now that we're always breaking into groups and rotating between activities. Like when Mrs. Parker is teaching one group, the rest of us have to be doing "independent work" at our desks. But you know how kids are - everyone whispers and giggles and goofs around instead of staying focused. So we have to keep our indoor voices and learn to concentrate better with background noise. We've even started doing different types of activities to keep everyone engaged and challenged at their levels. Like some days we'll do math games or read fun stories together as a treat ifwe've been working hard. Other days we have to break out the textbooks and worksheets for more serious practice.I have to say, I do miss how simple things used to be when we were just a smaller class moving along together. Don't get me wrong, it's cool to have some smarter kids around to learn from. But it's definitely noisier and harder to focus a lot of the time now.One of the biggest changes for me has been making new friends from the new students. At the start of the year, I had my main little group of buddies like Jake, Marcus, Emma, and Lily. We sat together, played together at recess, had our inside jokes and secrets, and did everything together.Well, once those new kids arrived, our little circle got shaken up. Carlos and Benjamin joined my friends at our table and in our games at recess. Meanwhile, I started hanging out more with Aisha, who is really funny, and Farid, who loves a lot of the same video games as me.It was hard at first because change always is for kids my age.I remember feeling so anxious that my close friendships were going to disappear. I got mad at Carlos and Benjamin when they started joining our games because I was afraid they'd ruin everything. But eventually I realized how silly I was being. My friends from the beginning of the year are still my main friends. We still have our bond. But now I have even more friends! And that's great because you can never have too many friends, right? My group has a bigger mix of kids from different backgrounds now too. Like Benjamin was born in another country and just moved here. Aisha's parents are from a different culture than mine and they eat different foods and celebrate different holidays at home. It's cool learning about all their traditions and backgrounds. So while it was really hard at first, I've grown to actually like having new kids in our class. It keeps things interesting and fun. We've all learned to compromise, include others, and look at things from new perspectives. Those are important life skills that Mrs. Parker says will keep serving us well.Besides all the new students, we also had another big change this year - we got class rules about technology and had to do lots of lessons about digital citizenship and stuff. You see, for the first few months of school, we weren't allowed to use our tablets or computers from the laptop cart except for specific lessons. There was basically a technology ban. Mrs. Parker said she did it because kids were getting way toodistracted and unfocused when we had our devices out all the time for classwork. She wanted us to learn through more "traditional" methods. But then around November, the school rolled out this new digital citizenship curriculum that teaches us the right and wrong ways to use technology. It covered things like cyberbullying, posting things online safely, managing our time ongames/videos, and fact-checking information we find on websites. So after going through all those lessons on being good "digital citizens", Mrs. Parker gave us more freedom to use technology for our work again. As long as we follow the new rules and guidelines she taught us.It's been awesome having the tablets and laptops back because so many of our learning activities and games are online now. But I have to admit, I got carried away at first going on random websites and playing games when I was supposed to be working. Mrs. Parker had to take my tablet privileges away for a week because of that. However, I learned my lesson and have been really careful to use technology just for schoolwork during class time. At home Ican play games and stuff, but at school it's all business! Most of my classmates have been pretty good about the rules too.Using technology more has been fun and opens up so many new activities for us. But it's also taught us important lessons about self-control, time management, and being safe online. I guess that's just part of preparing us for how much more tech we'll use in future grades.Wow, writing this all out made me realize just how much really has changed in our little 4th grade class this year! Between the new students, ability groups, teaching styles, technology policies, friendship dynamics, and all the life lessons we've learned - it's been a totally different experience than past years.Change can be really hard and scary at first, I know that for sure. But now I can see how all these changes were positive in the long run and have helped me grow as a student and person. They've pushed me to be more understanding, adaptable, and diligent. Those are qualities that will serve me well for the rest of my life.So while part of me does miss the simplicity of how things used to be, I've realized that mixing things up and going through changes is just part of growing up. It keeps me on my toes and helps me see things from new perspectives.Who knows what other changes 5th grade will bring next year? More new students? Even more technology? Bigger workloads? Field trips? I don't know, but I'll be ready. This year's changes have prepared me to roll with things and appreciate that change often leads to good things, even if it's hard at first.I'm sure my class will keep evolving over the years too, until one day I'll eventually graduate from elementary school altogether. Then it will be off to face the even bigger changes of middle school and high school! But if I can roll with the punches as well as I did this year, I'm sure I've got this. Thanks for listening to how my 4th grade experience changed so much. It's been one shakeup after another, but also a great growing year!篇3Changes in Our Classroom This YearWow, this school year has been really different from last year in our classroom! There have been so many changes, it's kind of hard to keep track. But I'll do my best to tell you about the biggest changes we've seen. The first really big change is that we got a new teacher, Mr. Thompson. Our old teacher, Mrs. Roberts, left at the end of last year because she had a baby. A lot of kids were sad to see her gobecause we all really liked her. But Mr. Thompson seems pretty nice too, even if his way of teaching is a little different than what we were used to.Mr. Thompson has made a few changes to how our classroom looks and runs. For one thing, he reorganized all the desks and workspaces. Instead of having rows of individual desks all facing the front, he put us into groups of four desks pushed together. He says this "cluster" setup helps us collaborate and work together more easily on projects. Personally, I kind of liked the old rows better because I could just put my head down and work without my friends distracting me. But I guess the groups are okay.Another thing Mr. Thompson changed is that he got rid of the big white board at the front of the room and installed a huge TV screen instead. Now instead of writing on the whiteboard, he displays stuff from his laptop onto the TV. It's kind of high-tech, but also kind of distracting with all the videos and animations he puts on there. I preferred when Mrs. Roberts just wrote things out simply on the whiteboard. One change I do really like is that Mr. Thompson lets us use tablets and laptops a lot more for our work. Mrs. Roberts didn't let us use too much technology in class. But Mr. Thompson hasset up a system where we can access assignments, videos, and learning games online and do a lot of our work digitally. It makes things much more fun and interactive than just writing in notebooks all day.Mr. Thompson also shook up the classroom jobs and responsibilities. Last year we had jobs like pencil sharpener monitor, line leader, and calendar updater that stayed the same all year. But this year, the jobs change every month so we all get a chance to do different things. Jobs now include tech helpers who handle laptop charging and updates, a host who welcomes visitors to our class, and even a DJ who gets to pick some of the music we listen to during work time. It's a great way to keep things fresh. We even got some new students in our class this year, which was a big change! Three new kids named Emma, Jose, and Michael joined from other schools over the summer. At first it was a little weird having new faces, but they settled in pretty quickly and now it feels like they've been here forever. More friends is never a bad thing! The biggest change of all though has been with the way we actually learn and do schoolwork. Instead of just sitting at our desks reading from textbooks and answering questions all day,Mr. Thompson has us do a ton of hands-on activities, projects, and experiments. We make posters, build models, put on little plays, and go on "field trips" around the school to learn about things in a much more interactive way.Just this week, we did a whole unit on the human body. Usually that would just mean reading a chapter in our science book about it. But instead, Mr. Thompson had us make life-size outlines of our bodies on big sheets of paper. Then we had to research and label all the different body parts, organs, bones, and systems on our body maps. After that, we even did an experiment putting together a model skeleton! It was like the classroom became a cool human body museum. That's just one example, but pretty much every new unit and topic is like that now - exploring through doing instead of just reading or listening. Yes, we still have to read and write too. But actually experiencing concepts and creating projects about them helps me understand and remember so much better. Even if it does mean more work!Of course, with all these changes, there are ups and downs. Sometimes the new hands-on way of learning feels overwhelming with so much to do and create for projects. And the group desks can be distracting when my friends start goofingoff. Not to mention how chaotic the classroom can get when we're all up and moving around for activities instead of sitting still. But overall, I'm really enjoying the fresh, more engaging style of learning and different look of our classroom this year. Going from the old, pretty routine way of doing things to this new active, exploratory way has been a big adjustment. But adjustments and changes are part of growing up. As long aswe're still learning, having fun, and being challenged, I don't mind too many changes happening.Well, there you have it - that's the report on the major changes we've experienced in our classroom this year! It's been different, that's for sure. But different isn't always bad. In fact, a little change helped shake things up in a good way and has made coming to class infinitely more exciting than it used to be. I can't wait to see what other changes or new things Mr. Thompson has in store for the rest of this year. One thing's for certain, though - it'll never be boring!。
