1Unit 5 Period Three

Period Three Grammar —The Attributive Clause (Ⅱ)(where ,when ,why ,prep .+which/whom)课文原句感知 1.The time when I first met Nelson Mandela was a very difficult period of my life. 2.It was in 1952 and Mandela was the black lawyer to whom I went for advice.3.He was generous with his time ,for which I was grateful.4.The school where I studied for only two years was three kilometres away.5.However ,this was a time when one had got to have a passbook to live in Johannesburg.6.The day when Nelson Mandela helped me was one of my happiest.7....,until today we have reached a stage where we have almost no rights at all. 8.The parts of town in which they had to live were decided by white people. 9.The places outside the towns where they were sent to live were the poorest parts of South Africa. 10....we were put into a position in which we had either to accept we were less important ,or fightthe government.1.

比较以下三组句子:⎩⎪⎨⎪⎧ We will never forget the days when we stayed at that beautiful countryside.

I still remember the day that I spent in Beijing.

⎩⎪⎨⎪⎧ The place where they will go is their hometown.

This is the house that I bought two years ago.

⎩⎪⎨⎪⎧The reason why he was late is that his bike was broken.

The reason that he gave us is not reasonable.

Yesterday we visited the West Lake for which Hangzhou is famous.

I’ll never forget the time during which I spent my childhood in the country.

The colorless gas without which we cannot live is called oxygen.

The old woman has two sons, both of whom are doctors.

Is this the book which she is looking for? The babies whom the nurses are looking after are healthy.

That was the way in which she looked after us.

He has two daughters, one of whom works as a nurse.

Some experts say that they can,but others disagree. Is every girl called Malak like an angel? Is every boy called Curitis polite? And is every girl called Mahira quick and full of energy? No parent can tell what kind of person their child will grow up to be.Just because parents name a boy Fahim,it doesn’t mean he will be clever.

2.Do you have friends? What kind of friend do you like?
In my opinion, a good friend should be friendly; helpful; polite; generous; honest; clever; loyal; able; humorous; warmhearted; responsible; patient; brave; out-going; selfless and so on.
But what is true friendship? Some people think friends are people whom they can play with, and others believe true friendship lies in similar interests. However, in my opinion, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” True friendship can encourage you when you are in difficulties. True friends can give you warnings against danger. True friends not only share with you your joy and happiness, but also your trouble and anxiety. When you need him, he will give you a hand and spare no efforts. Of course, these principles are the same to you when you treat your friends.
