本单元的阅读文段介绍的是中国的儿童节活动和美国儿童节的由来。
阅读要求：基础稍差的学生，只要能积极阅读，理解部分内容或文段大意即可。
中等程度的学生应该能在理解文段大意的基础上了解更多细节。
学有余力的学生，除了阅读文段并完成相应活动，还可以完成一些拓展性的任务，如比较中国和其他国家不同的传统节日。
二、教学建议1. 读前活动。
教师可以让同学们回忆一下去年的儿童节自己是怎么度过的。
然后请几个人向大家介绍一下自己的活动，这样可以自然引入本单元阅读内容的话题。
阅读策略方面，本单元的图片除了提示小男孩写信这个信息外，对文章其他主要内容的提示作用不明显。
教师可以指导学生扫一眼每段的第一句，然后猜测文段的大意。
2. 读中活动。
教师提出几个问题。
一般的顺序应该是先易后难、先主旨大意类后细节类。
细节内容如：中国孩子儿童节常参加的活动：sing and dance, go to the cinema, go to the park等。
再如给总统写信的美国小孩的年龄、美国儿童节的日期等。
学生弄清楚问题后，开始独立阅读。
这时，教师应重点关注那些基础稍差的学生，随时鼓励、引导，辅导解答语言问题。
最后师生讨论Thinking tasks中的问题。
阅读通常需要多次进行，每次阅读的重点不同。
具体的阅读时间和次数，教师可以根据学生基础、教学时间等具体情况来安排。
学生独立阅读之外，还有多种其他阅读方式。
不管选择哪种教学过程，都可以组织不同的活动，包括小组阅读、个人读写、小组读写、小组或全班的探究活动等。
小组阅读可以按基础不同分组，提出不同层次的阅读要求；也可以不同基础的学生在一个小组，大家合作、讨论后共同完成同样层次的阅读要求。

一、教学内容与分析
Just read and talk
通过阅读学习有关3月和4月的时间、活动以及节日的英文表达，结合阅读内容进行口头交流。
二、课前准备
1. 准备教学挂图和教学音频。
2. 准备一个年历和3月、4月的月历。
3. 准备节奏欢快的音乐音频。
4. 准备植树节、复活节有关的装饰品或图片、照片。
5. 准备3月、4月有关活动的图片、照片。
三、教学步骤与建议
1. 热身/复习(Warm-up / Revision)
1) 师生问好。
2) 师生同唱歌曲Months of years，复习12个月份的英语表达。
2. 新课呈现(Presentation)
1) 展示年历，问学生：Do you know what month goes after February? 引导学生从年历中找到三月March。
教师板书March，并领读。
2) 提出问题Do you know what festival is in March?让学生说一说自己所了解的三月份中的节日。
3) 引导学生听录音，了解录音中谈论的是什么节日，小朋友都做什么。
提出以下问题，提示孩子们认真听，并找到问题的答案。
What is the third month of the year?
What can people do?
When is Tree Planting Day?
Why do people plant trees?
4) 请同学回答问题，并引导学生看图讨论Why do people plant trees?引导学生用They want to ...来表达。
5) 听音跟读，注意语音、语调的模仿。
6) 运用同样的方法，借助图片学习April, Easter Day。
3. 趣味操练(Practise)
1) 教师引导学生在模仿录音的基础上，在小组内谈论本课图片，然后全班交流，教师和学生共同评价。
参考问题：
What is the third month of the year?
What can people do in March?
When is Tree Planting Day in China?
What do people do on Tree Planting Day?
What is the fourth month of the year?
What festival is in April?
When is Easter?
What do people do in Easter?
2) 日历游戏：学生四人一组，玩猜月份游戏。
每组发放1-4月日历卡片，卡片正面写着月份的英文。
把卡片反扣在课桌上，让学生依次猜是哪个月份，每个学生一次只能猜一个。
先说一个月份的英语单词，再翻开一张卡片，猜对的可以赢得卡片，看谁赢得多。
此游戏可以反复进行。
3) 小组活动。
组织学生分组讨论喜欢的月份和节日，借助相关图片，用自己的语言进行描述。
4) 四个学生根据课本内容和自由讨论的内容，分别到前面表演1-4月份的活动，每人表演一种动作，请下面的学生猜猜表演的活动是哪一个月的。
注意运用所学语言。
4. 语言运用(Language use)
情景设置：假设A同学和B同学相遇，A同学正要去参加某个活动(如植树活动或参加Easter庆祝活动)，他们互相询问和交谈。
教师布置任务，两人自编对话。
语言支持：
S1: Hello! S2, nice to see you!
S2: Nice to see you. Where are you going?
S1: I am going to East Mountain.
S2: What are you going to do there?
S1: Today is March 12th. It’s Tree Planting D ay. I am going to plant trees there.
5. 课堂评价(Assessment)
课堂教学过程中的评价
1) 对学生掌握本课语言知识、语言技能及综合学习能力等情况进行评价。
建议教师结合学校或班级的具体情况，设计“手拉手，交朋友”的评价方式，以男女生分组，或以每组为单位进行集体评价，体现手拉手，互相帮助。
2) 结合本课教学过程中的实际，注意对学生学习中表现出的表演能力、合作精神、动机与兴趣等方
面进行评价，也可设置有关本课学习的评价表。
教师在对学生进行评价的同时，注意采取学生自评、小组互评等充分发挥学生评价主体地位的方式进行。
教师指导学生将自己在本课的表现用A (优秀)，B (良好)，C (继续努力)记录在评价表格内。
3) 教师记录学生的课堂表现，评出本组的“今日英语之星”。
6. 拓展活动(Extended activities)
演讲大赛：由学生选择相关的月份和节日，通过网络或其他途径搜集相关资源，编写演讲稿，开展演讲比赛。
