But there are of course many other varieties of English. These varieties have their own ways of pronouncing words, their own special vocabulary and even their own grammatical rules. It is true there are some differences between American English and British English. For example words ending in –or (American) –our (British) color, colour, humor, humour, flavor, flavour etc. Words ending in –ize (American) –ise (British) recognize, recognise, patronize, patronise etc. Probably the major differences between British and American English lie in the choice of vocabulary. For example Americans go to movie while British go and see a film. The differences in the spokenlanguage are greater. For example, Americans say dance [], and in southernEngland they say []. (导学号59260001)Although many Chinese students say that their knowledge of English grammar is good, most would admit that their spoken English is poor.Whenever I speak to Chinese students they always say,“My spoken English is poor.” 1. I would like tosuggest that there may be some reasons for their problems with spoken English.First, they fail to find suitable words to express themselves due to a limited vocabulary.2.However,you can speak with a limited vocabulary,if your attitude is positive.Others will follow you as long as you use the words that you know.Second, they are afraid of making mistakes.Sometimes they make mistakes when they are speaking, because they are shy and nervous.Yet students should remember that their goal should be fluency not accuracy.Your aim in writing is to be accurate following the rules of grammar and using tenses to get your message across. But to talk to someone in English, you should be as quickly and well as you can.Even though sometimes you may use a wro ng word of tense,it doesn’t matter;because the person you are speaking to will understand you.The third re ason is that not enough attention is paid to listening. You have one mouth but two ears!3.Fourth,most Chinese students are reactive rather than proactive language learners.Instead of actively seeking out opportunities to improve their spoken English, they passively wait for speaking opportunities to come to them and wonder why their English always remains poor.4.If you don’t use your English bey ond the classroom, you will forget the English you know.5. You can learn how to speak English better by speaking English more.A.Remember:USE IT OR LOSE IT!B.Do not pay much attention to the grammar.C.All that hearing is necessary for you to start speaking.D.Obviously the better answer is to expand their vocabulary.E.However,their spo ken English doesn’t have to remain “poor”.F.Reading a lot is important for you to improve your spoken English.G.If you have the proactive outlook, then, you will see English opportunities wherever you go.答案1~5 EDCGA四、完形填空Body language is the quiet, secret and most powerful language of all!It speaks 1 than words.According to specialists, our bodies send out more 2 than we realize. In fact,non-verbal communication(非言语交际) takes up about 50% of what we really 3.And body language is particularly 4when we attempt to communicate across cultures(跨文化).Indeed, what is called body language is so 5 a part of us that it’s actually often unnoticed. And misunderstandings occur as a result of it.6,different societies treat t he 7between people differently.Northern Europeans usually do not like having 8 contact(接触) even with friends, and certainly not with 9 .People from Latin American countries, 10 ,touch each other quite a lot. Therefore,it’s possible that in 11 ,it may look like a Latino is 12 a Norwegian all over the room. The Latino, trying to express friendship, will kee p moving 13 .The Norwegian, very probably seeing this as pushiness, will keep 14 —which the Latino will in return regard as 15 .Clearly,a great deal is going on when people 16 .And only a part of it is in the words themselves. And when parties are from 17 cultures, there’s a strong possibility of 18 .But whatever the situation, the best 19 is to obey the Golden Rule:treat others as you would like to be 20 .1A.straighter B.louderC.harderD.further解析speak指说话的方式,根据第一句判断此处说明身体语言的作用之大,所以应选B项,表示“身体语言胜于言辞”。
