British Commonwealth
Βιβλιοθήκη The Commonwealth of Nations, usually known as the Commonwealth, is a voluntary association of 53 independent sovereign states, most of which are former British colonies, or dependencies of these colonies (the exceptions being the United Kingdom itself and Mozambique). No single government in the Commonwealth, British or otherwise, exercises power over the others, as in a political union. Rather, the relationship is one of an international organisation through which countries with diverse social, political, and economic backgrounds are regarded as equal in status, and co-operate within a framework of common values and goals

பைடு நூலகம் 2. Violence
• In addition to poverty in American society political assassinations are surprising and extraordinary. In American history, four American presidents have been assassinated. They are Abraham Lincoln, assassinated in April, 1865; James A. Garfield, in September 1881; William Mckinley, in September 1901; and John F. Kennedy, in November 1963. Indeed, it is a terrible and cruel social phenomenon.
From the racial aspect:
• A higher proportion of the black population is poor or unemployed;
• Racial prejudice.
The abuse of Power by Government and Corporation
• 45% of the population is afraid to walk alone at night near their own homes.
• 47% own guns, largely for self-protection

3.Mount Rushmore拉什莫尔山

Mount Rushmore is a memorial to the birth, growth, preservation and development of the United States of America. Gutzon Borglum sculpted busts of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln high in the Black Hills to represent the first 150 years of American history. The primary resource at Mount Rushmore is the granite sculpture itself, but also of interest is the Sculptor's Studio built under the direction of Sculptor Gutzon Borglum in 1939. Unique plaster models and tools related to the sculpting process are displayed in the studio.

Declaration of Independence: The Declaration of Independence was a document signed on July 4, 1776, declaring the colonies' independence from Great Britain.
Success in America is often equated with material wealth and financial success. Americans believe that hard work, innovation, and risk-taking can lead to personal success and wealth accumulation. This is why America has a strong entrepreneurial culture and is known for its "can-do" attitude.
02
Individualism is a core American value that emphasizes the importance of the individual and his or her rights and freedoms. This value is reflected in the Declaration of Independence, which states that "all men are created equal" and are endowed with certain unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Discrimination against blacks: In American society, any group other than the dominant white Anglo-Saxon Protestant majority is a minority group. The largest of the racial and ethnic minorities in the U.S. is the blacks who make up about 11.7% of the population. The myth of their racial inferiority was propagated as a justification for their continued subjugation. (所谓黑人种族低劣的神话被广泛传播,并以此作为 所谓黑人种族低劣的神话被广泛传播, 所谓黑人种族低劣的神话被广泛传播 永远奴役黑人的借口) 永远奴役黑人的借口

• The U.S. was founded on the principle of human equality, but in practice American society is a stratified (有等级的 one, in which 有等级的) 有等级的 power, wealth, and prestige are unequally distributed among the population. It is divided into social classes that have varying degrees of access to the reward the society offers. For example, the richest fifth of American individuals and families owns more than three-quarters of the wealth in the U.S., whereas the lowest fifth owns only 0.2% of the wealth. The richest fifth of American families receives over 40% of the national income, whereas the poorest fifth receives only 5.2%.
• Drug abuse in the U.S. has come to be regarded as one of the most challenging social problems facing the nation. The drug issue always excites strong emotions of Americans because drug abuse is perceived as a major threat to American society, particularly to its younger members. • Drug abuse is a social problem because it has a wide range of social costs. For example, drug is closely related with crime, automobile accidents. It has serious effects on individuals physically and mentally, and the economic losses caused by drug abuse are great.

Crime
• According to the reports given by the FBI, those arrested for crimes are disproportionately(不成比例的 likely to be 不成比例的) 不成比例的 male, young, a member of a racial minority, and a city resident. • For example, more blacks are arrested for crime than white people because a higher proportion of the black population is poor or unemployed and there are high correlations between poverty and the types of crime classified by the FBI as most serious (联邦调查局划分的最 联邦调查局划分的最 严重的罪行). 严重的罪行 Also, racial discrimination in the enforcement of law(执法) causes more arrests of racial (执法) minority people. Poverty
The U.S is one of the most wealthy countries in the world. Yet over 24 million people or about 10% of the population are living at or below the official poverty There are millions more, living slightly above the poverty line, whose plight is not much better. Also, the social services in the U.S compare unfavorably with those in most industrialized societies. Furthermore, the affluent majority seems indifferent to the problems of the poor. This raises some serious moral problems and inevitably creates fierce conflicts of interest and many political controversies. Therefore, poverty in the U.S becomes a social problem.
