Dead poets societyThe movie which the first time I heard is recommended by my friend, because the movie is so old that I didn’t want to watch it. But this time my teacher also recommended it, I think it must be a good movie. After watching it, I felt a little sad, not because of its end, but think o us today. There was much to think about in the film, maybe different people have different ideas.The film tells us a story of the U.S. wilton elite school in 1959.it’s a traditional and old fashioned school which like a prison. The ancient bells ushered in new semester and also ushered in a new teacher Keating. He calls himself the captain. T he captain like a lighthouse will lead students through the gloom. In his classroom, he encouraged his students to stand on the desk, with a new perspective to observe the world around. He introduces many thoughtful poetry to students, even allow students to tear up those dull textbooks. On the other hand they were encouraged to search the beauty and the real life in the poetry.Neil made me the deepest impression, he was fond of poem and the performances, but he was asked to become a doctor; he was the first one to comprehend Keating’s thought, but also he is the first one to reconstruct” Dead Poets Society" .on the stage he found his target, but strict father didn’t care about what he thought. Neil did not want to become a father expect people, but also unable to become a real himself,he chose to end his own life. He taught the students to swim against the steam and to be themselves but not to perform. Students regard Mr.Keating as a different teacher.Neil rebuilds the ‘Dead Poets Society’. The menbers fall in love with poets, as well as Todd. When Mr.Keating asks students to try writing a poem, Todd has no idea. Mr.Keating is quite angry. Dead poets society is a wonderful movie. The captain may be the kind of teacher that every student wants to meet. The most important things his students learn from his class may be freedom. they begin to think independently, to view the world in some new ways, to shape their values .
some scene in the movie touch me heavily, for example ,Neal take his own life to react his father. We know the father is absolutely, he want his son to do the things he regards as right tings. He doesn’t care about Neal’s feel. He don’t care his son’s dream even he had watch Neal’s great show. Someone thinks if the captain had not teach the class, every one may be ok, they also can enjoy their life, Neal would not die. I think Neal’s die is accident not necessary, just because the movie’s director needs Neal to die.
Another scene is at the ending of this movie. The leaders of this great college don’t want undertake the responsibility of Neal’s die, so they find a scapegoat –the captain. In order to resist the reputation of this college they fire Mr. Keating. The captain go to the classroom for his stuff, the president order him to leave quickly. When he getting out of the door with great melancholy, the impressive thing happened, Todd ignore the president’s warning, stand on the desk to support his teacher firstly. Then most students do the same thing to empress their honor .
Except the expressive scene we may find an interesting things in the movie. When the bagpipe appear ,some bad things will happen. This is a common still in directing. Then I will introduce some beautiful lines in this movie. The first one is oh captain, my captain. What a great for this teacher ,he lead his students to broad road.
The second one is a poet. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, old time is still a –flying, and this same flowers that smiles today, tomorrow will be dying. In our country we have lots of poets to express the same idea. Adolescent must cherish their time.
The third one is that, seize the day, and make your lives extraordinary. Everyone should seize the day, should do something we don’t regret when we old.
The last one, we don't read and write poetry because
it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering -- these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love -- these are what we stay alive for. I don’t know how to evaluate this sentence, because in recent years, poetry has lost its charm, our poets haven’t created beautiful poetry.
I also learn a lot form this movie. Their college’s environment is so beautiful; I guess the university must have at last one thousand years history. Studying in this college and meeting great teachers may be the most fortunate thing in life. Back to myundergraduate, I simply live for the day, hope my grades will be enough to pass, and that's it. What this film showed me was that we have the responsibility and the joy of being alive in this world. That we are dust, and we will go back to it. so we have precious little time to make a difference. That we have a moral obligation to "seize the day, and make our lives extraordinary" (my favorite quotes in this movie). That the world, basically is ours. That the only limitations are within ourselves, and that we owe it to us to fight, to rebel against conformity, to change what we hate and keep what we love. That living in this world is a beautiful responsibility, and that only cowards dare not to change it for the better.
