(1) He was one too many for me.

(2) Number one. ——自己。
3
由此而衍生to look after number one(自私,
Two of a trade did never agree. ——
Three scores and ten ——
Four-letter words——

衍生出four-letter man(专喜使用粗俗的下流话 的人)。

Mouth

letters become more threatening. They enter
their concrete phase. Still, received wisdom on
threatening letters is that they are, in the end,
all mouth and no trousers. They want to

(恶其始者必恶其终)、Behind bad luck comes good luck(。

例如:to be armed to the teeth 武装到牙齿(该典故出自从前南美的北海岸的.

)Time is money. 时间就是金钱(比"一寸光阴一寸金"流行)to shed crocodile tears 掉鳄鱼眼泪 as cold as ice 冰冷to trim the sail to the wind看风使帆Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Blood is thicker than water.

例如:a bull in a china shop公牛闯进瓷器店──肆意捣乱to shed crocodile tears流鳄鱼眼泪──假慈悲People considered that what he had played on that occasion was no more than a Judas kiss.

The favors of Government are like the box of Pandora, with this important difference; that they rarely leave hope at bottom.
