I believe that a genius in English writing is someone who not only has a strong command of the language, but also has the ability to express their thoughts and ideas in a clear and engaging manner. A genius in English writing is someone who can captivate their readers, evoke emotions, and convey complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand.I remember reading an essay by a renowned English writer, George Orwell, titled "Politics and the English Language." In this essay, Orwell not only demonstrated his mastery of the English language, but also his ability to articulate his ideas with precision and clarity. Hiswriting was so compelling that it left a lasting impression on me and inspired me to improve my own writing skills.Another example of a genius in English writing is theAmerican author, J.K. Rowling, who is best known for her Harry Potter series. Rowling's ability to create a rich and vivid world through her writing is truly remarkable. Heruse of descriptive language and her knack for storytelling have captivated millions of readers around the world.

Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four"在乔治·奥威尔的小说《1984》中,主人公温斯顿·史密斯被迫接受政府的宣传,放弃了自己的思想和信仰。

这句奥威尔的名言“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four”正是对自由和真理的捍卫。

When it comes to excellent English essays, there are a plethora of options to choose from. However, I would like to highlight a few that stand out to me personally.Firstly, "Politics and the English Language" by George Orwell is a classic essay that is still relevant today. In this essay, Orwell discusses the importance of clear and concise language in political discourse. He argues that vague and meaningless language is often used to deceive and manipulate people. This essay is not only a great example of persuasive writing, but it also offers valuable insights into the power of language.Another essay that I would recommend is "Letter from Birmingham Jail" by Martin Luther King Jr. In this letter, King responds to criticisms of his nonviolent protest tactics and defends the need for civil disobedience in thefight for racial justice. This essay is a powerful exampleof how to use personal experiences and emotions to make a persuasive argument. Finally, I would also suggest "The Death of the Moth"by Virginia Woolf. This essay is a meditation on the transience of life and the beauty of the natural world. Woolf's prose is poetic and evocative, and the essay offers a glimpse into the mind of one of the greatest writers of the 20th century.

As someone who loves to read and write, I have come across many classic English essays and have been inspired by them. Here are some of my favorite ones:1. "Self-Reliance" by Ralph Waldo Emerson This essay encourages readers to trust themselves and their own instincts, rather than relying on others for guidance. One of my favorite quotes from this essay is "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."2. "Politics and the English Language" by George Orwell This essay discusses the importance of clear and concise language in political writing. Orwell argues that the use of vague and meaningless language can lead to confusion and manipulation. As someone who works in the field of communication, I find this essay particularly relevant.3. "The Death of the Moth" by Virginia Woolf In this essay, Woolf observes a moth as it struggles to survive and eventually dies. The essay is a meditation on the fragility of life and the inevitability of death. I find Woolf's writing to be incredibly poetic and moving.

I am not, indeed, sure whether it is not true to say that the Milton who once seemed not unlike a seventeenth-century Shelley had not become, out of an experience ever more bitter in each year, more alien [sic] to the founder of that Jesuit sect which nothing could induce him to tolerate.Professor Harold Laski (Essay in Freedom of Expression)2. Above all, we cannot play ducks and drakes with a native battery of idioms which prescribes egregious collocations of vocables as the Basic put up with for tolerate, or put at a loss for bewilder .Professor Lancelot Hogben (Interglossa)3. On the one side we have the free personality: by definition it is not neurotic, for it has neither conflict nor dream. Its desires, such as they are, are transparent, for they are just what institutional approval keeps in the forefront of consciousness; another institutional pattern would alter their number and intensity; there is little in them that is natural, irreducible, or culturally dangerous. But on the other side, the social bond itself is nothing but the mutual reflection of these self-secure integrities. Recall the definition of love. Is not this the very picture of a small academic? Where is there a place in this hall of mirrors for either personality or fraternity?Essay on psychology in Politics (New York)4. All the "best people" from the gentlemen's clubs, and all the frantic fascist captains, united in common hatred of Socialism and bestial horror at the rising tide of the mass revolutionary movement, have turned to acts of provocation, to foul incendiarism, to medieval legends of poisoned wells, to legalize their own destruction of proletarian organizations, and rouse the agitated petty-bourgeoise to chauvinistic fervor on behalf of the fight against the revolutionary way out of the crisis.Communist pamphlet5. If a new spirit is to be infused into this old country, there is one thorny and contentious reform which must be tackled, and that is the humanization and galvanization of the B.B.C. Timidity here will bespeak canker and atrophy of the soul. The heart of Britain may be sound and of strong beat, for instance, but the British lion's roar at present is like that of Bottom in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream -- as gentle as any sucking dove. A virile new Britain cannot continue indefinitely to be traduced in the eyes or rather ears, of the world by the effete languors of Langham Place, brazenly masquerading as "standard English." When the Voice of Britain is heard at nine o'clock, better far and infinitely less ludicrous to hear aitches honestly dropped than the present priggish, inflated, inhibited, school-ma'amish arch braying of blameless bashful mewing maidens!

例如:Ring the changes on(用调包方式骗人), take up the cudgel for(打抱不平), toe the line(听话), ride roughshod over(欺凌), stand shoulder to shoulder with(并肩作战), play into the hands of(占便宜), no axe to grind(无个人企图), grist to the mill(能赚钱), fishing in troubled waters(浑水摸鱼), on the order of the day(在议事日程上), Achilles' heel(致命弱点), swan song(最后作品), hotbed(温床).
