Others believe the money should be spent on improving existing public transport. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
参考范⽂⼀In some countries, high-speed rail is welcomed by many people because it can carry passengers between cities within a shorter period of time. Some think the government should allocate a large sum of money into such railway lines, while others believe that the money should go to existing public transport.Supporters of building high-speed rail argue that new railway lines can help save commuting time despite the massive investment. With urban areas expanding further, more people may live in suburbs or even live in neighboring cities, and this means a new railway line between cities is especially important for those who need to travel to and from city centre for work. If there were not such high-speed rail, it is impossible for many people living in rural areas to commute in and out of the city every day. Therefore, a significant investment in the construction of high-speed railway lines is justified. However, there are also some opponents against such investment, myself included, and they think the funds should go to existing public transport. One major reason is lhat high-speed trains are expensive and the same amount of funds can be used to improve most of the current transport, including buses and underground trains. These are still the main transport by which thousands of people use every day. Another possible reason is related to the demand. It is reported that there are still a large percentage ofpeople living in cities and a new railway line outside of the town can only serve a small percentage of people. This means the investment is not a sensible decision. Ultimately there would be not enough funds to run the new railway system. In conclusion, I believe that although there are benefits to some people living outside of the city if high-speed trains are developed, the number of rural population is still relatively low and existing public transport is still the main choice for most of population and should therefore be the priority of the investment.

1. Why do some parents give their children money to spend each week?参考答案1I guess one important reason is that giving children some pocket money can help them to learn how to use money reasonably. For example, children might learn that if they spend all their pocket money on snacks, they would be unable to pay for their favourite toys. Teaching children how to manage their budget and how to save up for something they want might be one of the reasons why parents do this.参考答案2In my personal view, parents tend to give money to their children each week because they hope their kids can buy something they want. For example, when they walk home after school, they can buy ice cream to eat in a hot summer day, or they can pay for their bus or metro ticket by using their pocket money.2. Do you agree that schools should teach children how to manage money?参考答案1Oh, definitely. If schools can provide courses on how to manage pocket money, children would be more likely to develop appropriate buying habits. For example, if they see something they like very much but cannot afford, they would know they need to save up for it. Instead of living on a tight budget, it is always best to have some money put by for a rainy day.参考答案2No, I don't think its necessary. Parents are best teachers to teach children how to manage their own finance. For example, when parents bring their children to a supermarket, they can tell kids how to compare prices, how to use discounts available when buying chocolates and chips. Compared with learning how to save money in school, acquiring money management skills in real life can be much easier and more rewarding.3. Do you think it is a good idea for students to earn money while studying?参考答案1Not really. Studying is the top priority for students, especially for full-time students. Finding part-time jobs with the purpose of earning money may influence their studies negatively. For example, if there is a time conflict between their part-timejobs and courses, they may not catch up with lectures on time, and their academic performance would suffer because of this.参考答案2I do think this is a good idea. I mean, if students can earn money by working part time, they will become economically independent. They can use this extra money to pay for tuition fees and expensive textbooks, or simply to buy some life necessities, like a laptop.4. Do you think it is true that in today’s society money cannot buy happiness?参考答案1Absolutely. Money can’t buy happiness,no matter in the past or even in today’s society. Happiness is not about extravagant lives with huge houses and cars, but about family bonds, good health, and harmonious personal relationships in the workplace. For children, happiness often stands for eating something delicious or playing with toys. For lovers, a warm hug is a symbol of happiness. So our feelings of happiness cannot be measured simply by how much money we have.参考答案2Well, money is essential to life and we can^ live without money. In my view, it is the source of happiness, especially in todays society. Money can enhance our quality of life and make us live more comfortably. If people have to worry about what to eat or where to live due to lack of money, they won’t feel happy. Moreover, money can help us to enrich our life experiences. For example, you are unable to travel without money in your pockets. Therefore, money not only fulfills our basic survival needs, but also allows us to live an interesting and colourful life.5. What disadvantages are there in a society where the gap between rich and poor is very large?参考答案1Definitely. There are a lot of disadvantages if the gap between rich and poor is very large. Poor people may feel unfair when they see rich men living in big houses, driving roadsters, or having sumptuous meals. The result of this is that some people may end up resorting to stealing, robbing, and even committing serious crimes with the aim of getting extra money. In this sense, the large gap between rich and poor in society may lead to rising crime rates and thus social instability.参考答案2In my view, the most serious problem is the inequality of resources and opportunities between rich and poor. 剑桥雅思真题7-写作(Test 2 附高分范文)

剑桥雅思真题7—写作(Test 2 附高分范文)Writing Task 1You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.Write at least 150 words.参考范文1:The graph illustrates changes in the amount of beef, lamb, chicken and fish consumed in a particular European country between 1979 and 2004.In 1979, beef consumption reached the highest point, with about 225 grams consumed per person per week. Lamb and chicken were consumed in similar quantities about 150 grams. However, fish consumption hit a low of 50 grams.Yet, the consumption of beef and lamb dropped sharply to nearly 100 grams respectively. There had been a stable pattern at 50 grams in the consumption of fish.In contrast, the consumption of chicken showed an upward trend, transcending that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef in 1989. Then this figure rose to a peak of about 250 in 2004.Overall, the line graph clearly showed the consumption of chicken rised rapidly while other foods decreased during this period.参考范文2:The graph illustrates changes in the amounts of beef, lamb, chicken and fish consumed in a particular European country between 1979 and 2004.In 1979 beef was by far the most popular of these foods, with about 225 grams consumed per person per week. Lamb and chicken were eaten in similar quantities (around 150 grams), whilemuch less fish was consumed (just over 50 grams). However, during this 25-year period the consumption of beef and lamb fell dramatically to approximately 100 grams and 55 grams respectively. The consumption of fish also declined, but much less significantly to just below 50 grams, so although it remained the least popular food, consumption levels were the most stable. The consumption of chicken, on the other hand, showed an upward trend, overtaking that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef in 1989. By 2004 it had soared to almost 250 grams per person per week.Overall, the graph shows how the consumption of chicken increased dramatically while the popularity of these other foods decreased over the period.参考范文3:The given line graph compares the fish and meat consumptions by the people of a European country from 1979 to 2004.As is presented in the graph, the consumption of chicken increased over the time while meats of different types were more preferred by people in the given European country than the fishes.According to the graph, more than 200 grams of beef was consumed daily by each person initially in 1979. In this year, each person on an average ate 150 grams of chicken and lambs while the consumption was just over 50 grams in this year. Over time people preferred chicken and the consumption kept on increasing and reached to over 250 grams per day by each person. The consumption of beef, lamb decreased over time and finally in 2004 the average consumption of these two meat types decreased to around 100 grams per person in a day. The amount consumed for fish remained almost same throughout the years and slightly decreased over time.In summary, people started consuming more chicken than beef and lamb and the fish consumption remained almost the same.Writing Task 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.参考范文(Band 7.5):Fixing punishments for each type of crime has been a debatable issue. There are many arguments supporting both views, those for and those against fixed punishments. On the one hand, fixed punishments will have a deterring effect on society. Individuals knowing that they will be subject to a certain punishment if they are convicted with a given crime, will reconsider committing this act in the first place. This deterring effect also leads to social stability and security, through minimizing the number of crime committed. If people knew they would be able to convince the court or the jury of a reason for having committed the crime they are accused of, penal decisions would be largely arbitrary. This wouldresult into criminals getting away with their crimes and into a high level of injustice caused by the subjective approach of different courts. On the other hand, taking the circumstances of a crime and its motivation into consideration is a prerequisite for establishing and ensuring justice and equity.A person killing in self-defense cannot be compared to a serial killer, moving from one victim to the next. In my opinion, an intermediary position between both solutions is the perfect way to establish and ensure justice and equity. There have to be fixed punishments for all crimes. However, criminal laws have to provide for a minimum and a maximum for the punishment and the laws also have to foresee certain cases of exemptions. An example for setting minimum and maximum penalties is Completion Law where a person being held liable of a crime under this law will be convicted to pay a fine, according to the harm caused by the violation and the profit gained by the violator through committing the crime. As for the exemptions, in some countries the law exempts thiefs stealing food during a period of famine taking into consideration the distress and hunger. Also, a person killing in self-defense will be exempted from punishment.考官评语:This is a thoughtful and well-argued response to the task. The candidate examines the opposing views of the topic and gives a clear opinion that is well developed and supported. To reach the highest band a more clearly-signalled conclusion would be needed. The argument is well organised and linking is well managed throughout. The development of the answer is not helped however, by poor control of paragraphing which sometimes confuses the links across different sections. This is a weak feature of the script which limits the overall rating. In contrast, an excellent range of vocabulary is used with a sophisticated level of control and only rare slips. The range of structures is also wide and most sentences are accurate and precise, but there are some errors and omissions. These, however, are only minor and do not affect communication.。

剑桥雅思12第八套题小作文
剑桥雅思12第八套题小作文In the realm of education, the contentious subject of streaming students based on their academic abilities has sparked fervent debates for decades. Proponents of streaming extol its virtues, arguing that it fosters a more tailored and efficient learning environment, while detractors decry it as an inequitable system that exacerbates existing social and economic disparities. This essay delves into the multifaceted arguments surrounding streaming, exploring its potential benefits and drawbacks with a nuanced perspective. Streaming advocates maintain that itenables students to learn at their own pace, surrounded by peers with similar academic aspirations. They contend that this homogeneous grouping fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in class discussions. Moreover, they argue that streaming allows teachers to tailor their instruction to the specific needs of each group, enabling them to challenge high-achieving students with more rigorous material while providing additional support to those who may be struggling. Opponents of streaming, however, raise concerns about its potential to perpetuate and exacerbate existing inequalities. They argue that streaming often mirrors socioeconomic divisions, with students from disadvantaged backgrounds disproportionately placed in lower streams. This can lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy, where students from these lower streams receive a less challenging education, reinforcing their perceived lower abilities and limiting their future opportunities. Furthermore, critics contend that streaming canstifle creativity and diversity of thought. By segregating students based on their academic performance, streaming may create a narrow and rigid educational system that values conformity over independent thinking. This, they argue, can hinder the development of well-rounded individuals who are able to think critically and solve problems effectively. Another concern raised by opponents of streaming is its impact on student motivation. Students placed in lower streams may feel discouraged and disengaged, believing that their academic potential is limited. This can lead to a decline in their overall academic performance and a loss of interest in learning. Conversely, students in higher streams may become complacent, believing that their success is guaranteed and thus reducing their effort andmotivation. In conclusion, the debate over streaming students based on their academic abilities is complex and multifaceted. While streaming may offer certain advantages, such as tailored instruction and a sense of belonging for students, it also raises concerns about equity, creativity, motivation, and the potential to perpetuate existing social and economic disparities. A nuanced understanding of these arguments is essential for educators and policymakers tasked with making decisions about the future of streaming in educational systems.。

Give reasons for this change, and suggest some ways to bring families closer. You should write at least 250 words. You should use your own ideas of knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence. In the past, family was a very important concept in people’s minds, and it was the center of many people’s lives. Nowadays, however, the relationship between family members is not as close as before. But as to what factors contribute to this phenomenon, different people have diverse opinions. As far as I am concerned, it results from the following reasons. The first reason is that people spend more time on their study and work. Compared with the past, people face fierce competition and suffer from great pressure. Therefore, they have to devote more time and energy to their careers. Some people are too occupied to spare time for their family. What is more, many jobs require people to work in other cities and many children have to leave their parents at an early age to study or work elsewhere. As time passes, these people become emotionally estranged from their parents.Another reason is that there are more entertainment forms available. Nowadays high technology brings us more interesting things which can easily attract people’s attention, such as watching TV, surfing the Internet or plating video games. As a result, people are indulged in these activities, totally neglecting the feelings of other family members. To bring families closer, people put forward various suggestions. Firstly, never bring your work home and leave it in your office. We should spare more time with family members no matter how occupied we are. Secondly, try to squeeze some time for a regular family dinner because dinner time is a perfect time and opportunity for people to exchange their feelings and ideas. Last but not least, we should teach the children the sense of family when they are still young.Family is the basic unit of a society. It plays a significant role in our lives. In order to enjoy a harmonious family life and maintain a stable society, we should take efforts to create a close family relationship. (342 words)雅思7分范文(篇三)题目:The older generations tend to have very traditional ideas about how people should live, think and behave. However, some people believe that these ideas are not helpful in preparing younger generations for modern life. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this view?范文:It is true that many older people believe in traditional values that often seem incompatible with the needs of younger people. While I agree that some traditional ideas are outdated, I believe that others are still useful and should not be forgotten. On the one hand, many of the ideas that elderly people have aboutlife are becoming less relevant for younger people. In the past, for example, people were advised to learn a profession and find a secure job for life, but today’s workers expect much more variety and diversity from their careers. At the same time, the ‘rules’ around relationships are being eroded as young adults make their own choices about who and when to marry. But perhaps the greatest disparity between the generations can be seen in their attitudes towards gender roles. The traditional roles of men and women, as breadwinners and housewives, are no longer accepted as necessary or appropriate by most younger people. On the other hand, some traditional views and values are certainly applicable to the modern world. For example, older generations attach great importance to working hard, doing one’s best, and taking pride in one’s work, and these behaviours can surely benefit young people as they enter today’s competitive job market. Other characteristics that are perhaps seen as traditional are politeness and good manners. In our globalised world, young adults can expect to come into contact with people from a huge variety of backgrounds, and it is more important than ever to treat others with respect. Finally, I believe that young people would lead happier lives if they had a more ‘old-fashioned’ sense of community and neighbourliness. In conclusion, although the views of older people may sometimes seem unhelpful in today’s world, we should not dismiss all traditional ideas as irrelevant.雅思7分范文(篇四)Nowadays, there are several channels to get news, such as radio, TV, newspaper and internet. I think internet is the best among these. In my essay, I am going to explain why.Since its invention, the Internet has been keeping booming as a prospective industry. Not only because it is a combination of texts, audios and videos, but also due to its convinience. It has threatened the domination of spreading news of the traditional media, and, I would say, is about to take control. We can find everything we want on internet – latest news, books, songs, movies, cartoons… whatever. With radio, we can merely hear. Compared with newspaper, radio and TV can provide the lastest information. For instance, it was immediately availalbe of the breaking news of the Americans’ attacking on Iraq, as we ll as thatthe Twin Towers of New York were destroyed on September 11, 2001. __ However, we just cannot carry TV 24/7.Internet is a convinient way of getting information, as long as your mobile phone is connected or you possess a laptop. When I am on a vehicle, I usually have my cellphone connected to internet, then browse what happend in the past few hours, or log in MSN to begin a conversation with my friends. Reading newspaper is also a good way to kill time, but for me, a youngster, it is not so modern as “surfing online while being transported”.The traditional media will never disappear, though internet has taken a big advantage in the competition. And definitely, there is still a long way for internet to go. Anyway, internet benefits me the most, and I highly appreciate it.雅思7分范文(篇五)题目:Wild animals have no place in the 21st century, so protecting them is a waste of resources. To what extent do you agree or disagree?范文:Some people argue that it is pointless to spend money on theprotection of wild animals because we humans have no need for them. I completely disagree with this point of view.In my opinion, it is absurd to argue that wild animals have no placein the 21st century. I do not believe that planet Earth exists onlyfor the benefit of humans, and there is nothing special about this particular century that means that we suddenly have the right toallow or encourage the extinction of any species. Furthermore, thereis no compelling reason why we should let animals die out. We do not need to exploit or destroy every last square metre of land in orderto feed or accommodate the world’s population. There is plenty of room for us to exist side by side with wild animals, and this should be our aim.I also disagree with the idea that protecting animals is a waste of resources. It is usually the protection of natural habitats that ensures the survival of wild animals, and most scientists agree that these habitats are also crucial for human survival. For example, rainforests produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide and stabilise the Earth’s climate. If we destroyed these areas, the costs of managing the resulting changes to our planet would far outweigh the costs ofconservation. By protecting wild animals and their habitats, we maintain the natural balance of all life on Earth. In conclusion, we have no right to decide whether or not wild animals should exist, and I believe that we should do everything we can to protect them.雅思7分范文(篇六)Some people think that a sense of competition in children should be encouraged. Others believe that children who are taught to co-operate rather than compete become more useful adults. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.Nowadays, purpose of education being changed in Korea. There are some people who think that competition in children should be made, also others believe that children who are taught to co-operate as well as become more useful adults. There are advantages and disadvantages for both of the arguments. To begin with, what is good if a sense of competition in children is made? They could develop themselves more and more as they learn and study a lot to win from the competition. To prove this, in Korea, it is popular- even common now- to have a tutor who come to student’s house to teach extra pieces of study with paying a lot of money. They learn faster than what they learn at school. Furthermore, during the vocations, students study abroad to learn English for a month instead of revise school work. If they have experiments such as study abroad, it is one of the greatest plus point to go to the famous well-known high school. Moreover, there are four big school exam and twonational examinations to test students’ level of studies. Generally, only the highest 40% can go to the good quality highschools and colleges children learn as much as they can, to win the competition to obtain good quality schools. On the other hand, as they are busy to enter the schools and study individually with their own tutors, there are problems. They become selfish. They become careless and don’t help others a lot if it is about studies. There will be no co-operations for them. Then, why are there companies for many people to work in? each of them are clever, however, there are weak parts and strong parts for each person. Toco-operate is to improve this part. People talk and listen to what others thinking of and learn. That could also be a great opportunity to learn instead of learning alone with one teacher. In conclusion, I strongly agree with that children should be taught to co-operate rather than compete. Nobody is perfect. People learn together, work together to develop each other. therefore, I want parents and teachers to educate children concentrating on co-operation, not compete and ranking them.

Test 7 Task 2
Some people say that parents should encourage their children to take part in organised group activities in their free time. Other say that it is important for children to learn how to occupy themselves on their own.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Unquestionably, every coin has two sides and so it is humans too. Society is divided over the topic of how kids should spend their leisure time. Some argue that children, when time permits, should engage in team-building activities, whereas others are of the opinion that they should be left independently to decide how they want to spend their free periods of time. In my essay, both viewpoints will be discussed in detail along with my own opinion and a sensible conclusion.
Initiating with the points that support the first school of thought, firstly, kids who engage in group activities learn how to function as a part of a team. It will help them in their careers in the future. For example, playing team sports will teach them how to adjust, sacrifice and provide collective effort, which are important life skills that are
useful in work life. Another benefit that parents argue is social inclusion. They say that they learn how society functions, behaviour in various social situations, etc. To cite an instance, toddlers and adolescents who do not engage with their peers, grow up to be socially awkward and are considered recluses. This point is supported by many psychologists too. As a result, mothers and fathers encourage their wards to play with others.
On the contrary, people who support other points of view say that children should learn, on their own, how to spend time. They believe that such treatment inculcates independent thinking and non-reliance on others. This promotes problem-solving capabilities by learning from mistakes. To cite an example, it is a fact that children from North America region are more independent than their counterparts in South-East Asia. They are able to travel alone, feed themselves, and learn about new subjects, because they are not reliant on their parents.
To conclude, my opinion is that both thought processes have their pros and cons. Therefore, it will be best to provide exposure to both for holistic development. However, it will depend on the mindset of the people and which point of view is favoured by them.。
