本单元紧扣“购物”这一话题，学生跟随文本人物体验购物，习得语言，学会挑选、购买物美价廉的商品。
单元主情境图通过Sarah与妈妈、Zoom与售货员在服装店购物的情境，引发学生对如何购买、出售物品。
A部分呈现John和妈妈在鞋店购买鞋子的情境，学习核心句型“Can I help you?Yes.These shoes are... Can I try them on?Size...please.They’re too...”的语义和语用功能，并通过饰品店情境，结合单词gloves, umbrella,sunglasses,scarf进行购物。
B部分呈现Sarah和妈妈买裙子的情境，学会用“How much is this...？It’s...nice/pretty/cheap/expensive”等询问并回答商品的外观和价格。
通过本单元的学习，学生能够简单形容自己对商品的印象，以得体有礼的方式模拟购物，并对性价比作出基本评判。
本课时作为本单元的第六课时，是一节读写课。
教学内容由两部分组成：第一部分图文并茂地呈现了商店促销的情境，展示了促销的产品及促销广告。
广告的内容围绕本单元重点———物品及描述，以朗朗上口、极富鼓动性、吸引力的语言激发学生的阅读兴趣。
同时，潜移默化地渗透正确的消费观念，形成勤俭节约的好习惯。
第二部分是读后的书写任务，要求学生在情境中运用“They are very/too...”描述物品，进行正确书写，达成意义输出。
