➢ 现在的美国国旗，国旗上有50颗星。1818年美国国会通过法案，国旗 上的红白宽条固定为13道，五角星数目应与合众国州数一致。每增加 一个州，国旗上就增加一颗星，一般在新州加入后的第二年7月4日执 行。至今国旗上已增至50颗星，代表美国的50个州。
➢ 美国最早的国旗出现于独立战 争时，当时参加战争的13个殖 民地州的人民，为表示同仇敌 忾、联合战斗的意志，制定了 一面“大联合旗”。这面旗的 旗底是红白相间的13道横条， 代表13个殖民地州，旗帜左上 角是一个缩小的英国米字旗图 案，反映当时各殖民地还承认 英国的宗主国地位。
