Person: Pierre L'Enfant, a famous French-born architect and city planner. Achievement : L'Enfant Plan fealtured broad streets and Avenues. He based his design on plans of cities such as Paris ,Amsterdam and so on.
L'Enfant's design: It also envisioned a garden-lined "grand avenue“ approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) in length and 400 feet (120 m) wide in the area that is now the National Mall.
