童年的邓亚萍，因为受当时体育教练父亲的影响，立志做一名 优秀的运动员。但是她个子矮，手脚粗短，根本不符合体校的要求， 体校的大门没能向她敞开。于是，年幼的邓亚萍跟父亲学起了乒乓球， 父亲规定她每天在练完体能课后，必须还要做100个发球接球的动作。 邓亚萍虽然只有七八岁，但为了能使自己的球技更加熟练，基本功更 加扎实，便在自己的腿上绑上了沙袋，而且把木拍换成了铁拍。 • 对一个孩子来说，这是多么难能可贵！这不但要使身体备受煎熬， 心理方面也要承受巨大的压力。小小的她，每闪、展、腾、挪一步， 都可以用举步维艰来形容！ 腿肿了！手掌磨破了！——这是家常便饭！ 但她从不叫苦，不喊累！负责训练的父亲，有时心疼得掉眼泪！ • 付出总有回报，由于邓亚萍的执着，10岁的她便在全国少年乒乓 球比赛中获得团体和单打两项冠军。

进入国家队后，邓亚萍都是超额完成自己的训练任务，队里规定上午练到11时， 她就给自己延长到11时45分，下午训练到6时，她就练到6时45分或7时45分，封闭训 练规定练到晚上9时，她练到11点多。邓亚萍为了训练经常误了时间，她就自己泡面吃。 在队里练习全台单面攻时，邓亚萍依旧往腿上绑沙袋，而且面对两位男陪练的左 突右奔，一打就是2小时！ 在进行多球训练时，教练将球像连珠炮一样打来，邓亚萍每次都是瞪大眼睛，一 丝不苟的接球，一接就是1000多个。 据教练张燮林统计，邓亚萍每天接球打球1万多个！ 每一节训练课下来，汗水都湿透了邓亚萍的衣服、鞋袜，有时甚至连地板也会浸 湿一片，不得不换衣服、鞋袜，甚至换球台再练。 长时间从事大运动量、高强度的训练，从颈到脚，邓亚萍身体很多部位都有伤病。 为对付腰肌劳损，她不得不系上宽宽的护腰，膝关节脂肪垫肿、踝关节几乎长满 了骨刺，平时只好忍着，实在痛的厉害了就打一针封闭，脚底磨出了血泡，就挑破它 再裹上一层纱布接着练。就算是伤口感染，挤出脓血也要接着练。

1997年后，邓亚萍结束运动员生涯后开始了11年的求学之路，分别在清华 大学、英国诺丁汉大学和剑桥大学学习，先后获得英语专业学士学位、中国 当代研究专业硕士学位和如今的经济学博士学位。邓亚萍从英国剑桥大学基 督学院毕业，获得土地经济学博士学位。拥有18个世界冠军头衔的邓亚萍在 学生舞台上也站上了新的高度。在剑桥大学近八百年的历史中，第一次有像 邓亚萍这种重量级的世界顶尖运动员拿到博士学位。 2001年北京申奥团成员之一 2002年，邓亚萍在国际奥委会道德委员会以及运动和环境委员会两个委 员会担任职务。其后，邓亚萍在北京奥组委市场开发部供职。 2009年4月16日，邓亚萍正式就任共青团北京市委副书记。中共北京市 委组织部有关负责人当天在团北京市委全体大会上宣读了对邓亚萍的任命。 2010年国庆后，北京市团委副书记邓亚萍调入人民日报任人民搜索总裁， 已进入公示期，级别从副局升至正局。 2010年正式任命为人民日报社副秘书长、人民搜索网络股份公司总经理。

求学时期

刚到清华大学外语系报到时，指导老师让她一次写完26个英文字母。当 时在别人眼中看来最简单不过的事，邓亚萍却费尽心思后才把它们写出来。 于是邓亚萍把自己的睡眠时间压缩到最低限度，经常学习到很晚才肯休 息，有时，一边走路一边看书，就连吃饭的时间都用上了。 邓亚萍不断要求自己，做作业也要和完成训练课一样，绝对是今日事今 日毕，毫不含糊。她这种刻苦学习的精神，让辅导老师和学友都深表叹服。 1998年2月，邓亚萍前往英国诺丁汉大学读书，邓亚萍在诺丁汉大学的 语言学校开始学习英语，短短3个月的时间，邓亚萍坚持每天8点多从自己的 住所赶往学校上课。下午3点半下课后，她还到学院的学习中心去学习，听磁 带，练自己的口语，直到晚上8点学习中心关门后才赶回住所。 回到住所，邓亚萍也从不浪费时间，她坚持和房东用英语交流，坚持按 时完成作业和预习功课。 在她终于获得硕士学位后，邓亚萍又动身前往剑桥大学攻读博士学位。 长时间固定姿势写稿诱发了邓亚萍的颈椎病，头不能移动，一动就疼的 钻心。但是，疼痛并没有把邓亚萍征服，她咬紧牙关，以一种固定的姿势坚 持查阅资料和写作。
