文化意识包括文化知识、文化理解、跨文化交际的意识和能力。
本课文化意识目标为进一步理解英语国家的主要食物和节日，初步感知中外文化异同。
本课课文情境是在万圣节前夕，一个小孩穿着万圣节长袍、戴着万圣节面具、提着“杰克灯”，到Ms Smart家索要糖果。
在得到糖果后，因为一时高兴，面具掉了下来，这时Ms Smart发现这个孩子是Tom,.从本单元的课文可以看出，即使在万圣节前夕这样的传统节日里，大家仍然要的得到允许才能进门、得到礼物。
在学习课文前，要先给学生讲解有关万圣节的知识：在西方国家，万圣节前夕—10月31日晚上是孩子们尽情玩乐的好时候，在孩子们眼中，这是一个充满神秘色彩的节日。
夜幕刚刚降临，孩子们便迫不及待地穿上五颜六色的鬼怪衣服，戴上千奇百怪的面具，提着一盏“杰克灯”跑出去玩。
“杰克灯”的做法是将南瓜掏空，在外面刻上眼睛和大嘴巴，然后在里面插上一支蜡烛，把它点燃。
孩子们会去按邻居家的门铃，然后说：“Trick or treat!"意思是“不请吃就捣蛋”。
由于不是所有人都准备了万圣节礼物，所以孩子们一般只到挂有“杰克灯”等装饰物的邻居家索要糖果。
出于安全考虑，父母现在要求孩子们把糖果等拿回家，经检查后再吃。

第七课属于第三单元，第三单元以“festival”为话题，主要谈论Halloween，Thanksgiving Day, Christmas.现在我来谈谈我这一节课的设计思路：本节课是新路径英语第11册Lesson 7 Halloween的第一课时.万圣节对于孩子们来说是一个陌生的节日，他们对万圣节充满好奇。
Lesson7教学内容的编排不能满足孩子们对万圣节的求知欲望。
因此，我把该教材作了整理，让孩子们全面了解和理解万圣节的文化。
我把课文作了改编，添加了更多关于万圣节的元素。
第一课时主要学习与万圣节有关的单词和感受万圣节，以及体验万圣节所带来的快乐。
本节课的重点放在新单词的学习和体验Halloween。
希望通过本节课让学生记住万圣节这个西方人的节日，了解万圣节的来历，并亲身体验万圣节带给他们的快乐。
第一个环节：问候和引入，从日常会话过渡到节日，引出Halloween.通过观看视频，初步感受万圣节，通关于万圣节的图片，体验scary，引出scary thing。
第二个环节：1.通过听录音，回答第一和第二个问题。
在这个过程中，教授新单词，并理解万圣节的来历和感悟很久以前人们是怎样过万圣节的。
第三个环节：通过听录音并跟读，回答第三个和第四个问题，带领学生理解当今西方国家怎样万圣节。
第四个环节：学生跟读文章第二段，回答第五和第六个问题，让学生充分体验万圣节带来的“fun”。
第五个环节：根据板书，带领学生回忆并总结今天所学知识。
板书分为scary things 和fun两部分。
