I entered the forum early and saw students appear on the screen one after another. Strangely enough, when it was time to begin, the teacher still hadn't shown up. However, we began sharing information and talkingabout the new class. Unlike me, all of the other students were new to the online class. I told them about my experiences and my thoughts. Then I noticed something. There were 27 people in the forum. This was strange because I know there were only 26 people in the class."Hey," I wrote, "which one of you is the teacher?"The teacher made herself known at last. Another way of learning English is by watching DVDs of Western movies, English movies. You could turn the subtitles on so you could see the words on the bottom of the screen. And while the actors and the actresses are talking to each other, you could see the words on the bottom so it's easier for you to understand what they're saying. And this is a way of learning how people really talk to each other. And that's my way of enjoying interesting and fun ways of learning English.Hi, my name is Martin. I'm from Austria. I was rather young when I started to, uh, learn English. I was about five years old. And my father, because his job, he, uh, took our whole family to England, and we stayed there for one year. And, um, he just put me in a local grammar school. So, I picked up English pretty naturally playing with my new friends. And, um, back to Austria, at the beginning, of course, I had a big advantage, compared to my other classmates, in English class. Um, but over the time, I had to study as hard as everybody. I had to memorize vocabulary like using flash cards or just reading a lot of books. Or, for the grammar, just always repeat the grammar patterns. Um, or just read a lot of books. read a lot of newspaper articles. All that helped a lot.Hi, my name is Noon. I'm from Thailand. Um, my mother is Thai and my father is from Switzerland, he's Swiss. So, we grew up in a household where we spoke many languages: Thai, English, and German. Um, so I learned my English from a very young age. However, because my father does a lot of international works, and works with people from different countries, English was the mostly used language in our home. I would listen to him speak to his business coworkers, and do business mostly in English. Um, so most of the times, sometimes, he would take me along with him to business trips. And I would also interact with these international people, and so my English did improve. Mandarin Chinese along with Italian will be added within three years. Japanese and Russian will be offered later. This means the best high school students will be able to take college-level courses in these four new languages.The Chinese government and the Italian government have each agreed to pay part of the cost of developing the Advanced Placement programs. Chinese officials say they will also help create the program in Chinese language and culture.College Board officials say the study of a world language, such as Chinese, is an important part of a student's high school education.More than one million students at more than 14,000 American high schools took at least oneAdvanced Placement test this year after taking an AP class.The AP program is increasingly important among high school classes for the best students.
