Hobbies

Hobbies are activities in which one participates strictly for amusement. A hobby can be almost anything . Music is most popular. Many people play musical instruments. They play simply for fun in their free hours. Sports provide other favorite hobbies. Bicycling, skating, tennis and countless other sports are enjoyed by millions of people.

Some people collect things as a hobby. Stamps, coins, and paintings are all popular collections, and valuable, too. There are still hundreds of others, not necessarily valuable but still interesting, such as seashell collections, bottle collections, and so on. Gardening and cooking are two examples of common activities that become hobbies for many people. They devote a great deal of their spare time to them.

My hobby is playing the guitar. I have been playing it since my first year in college. I like to sing along when I play, too. My friends tell me that I am very good at it, but I don’t know whether it is true. T o me it is just an enjoyable hobby.

I have many hobbies, but playing basketball is my favorite one. At weekends, we always build a team to play basketball against another one in our neighbourhood. The competitions brought us so much fun. I think playing basketball is a good way to build up one's body and relax oneself. But I will always remember that it's unwise to spend too much time playing

My Hobby

A hobby can be almost anything a person likes to do in his spare time. Hobbyists raise pets, build model ships, weave bas-kets, or carve soap figures and so on. In a word, hobbies offer en-joyment, friendship, knowledge and relaxation.

Then, what is my hobby? Well, what I like most is singing. I began to sing songs when I was very young. My uncle was studying in a college then, so he could sing lots of songs, and he taught me several songs. I showed great interests in the music then, for they were pleasing to ears and easy to sing. My uncle told me they were called pop songs.

When I grew up, my music teacher found that I had a good voice, so she sent me to the Children's Palace to study vocal mu-sic. From then on, I began my vocal music training. And then I knew there were several kinds of songs, like folk songs, pop songs and so on. What I had learned most was the songs for children. They were all simple ones but our teacher trained us very strictly. We practiced how to produce sound and how to make our expres-sion more natural and more pleasing. Those simple training didn't reduce my interest in singing at all and I won awards one after another in several kinds of competition. Actually I began to make up a dream of becoming a famous singer in the future.

As time went by, I came to realize that my dream wouldn't come true for there were strict conditions of being a singer. But I still took singing as my hobby since I found in music the interests

which were lost in the exams. When I put all my emotion into singing a song, it gave me very good and very pleasant feelings, and a good chance to relax. Besides, it was a good way to learn things that couldn't be easily found in life.

Now as I'm saying goodbye to my childhood my voice has changed into a deep male voice, and therefore I can sing a lot of songs written for adults. I am often deeply moved, by the melody or by what the song writers said. I can feel that these words come from the bottom of their hearts: "All my best memories come back clearly to me. Some can even make me cry, just like before. It's yesterday once more. ""Heal the world, make it a place, for you and for me and the entire human race". When I sing these songs, tears well up in my eyes.

I love singing, and the most warm and fragrant thing in life, I assume, is sitting in the sunshine, listening-to the walkman and singing together with the singer.

So, this is my hobby, and I hope every one of us can enjoy his own hobby, enjoy the simple, good things of life.

My Hobby

My hobby is fishing. I am fond of going fishing, for it is both interesting and iastructive-It tempers my willpower. Last Sunday I went fishing with my friend, He Ping.We started at daybreak. After three hours' cycling, we arrived at the outskirts of Hefei and came to a stream. The water is clear and clean. One can see fish swimming. The meadow sprinkled with buttercups slopes to the stream. It is a good place for fishing.

In a few minutes everything was ready. Putting the bait of earthworms on the hook, dropping the hue into the strum, we sat there fishing with rod in hand. An hour passed. I did not catch a single fish. I lifted the fishing rod time and again. Time and again I was disappointed. There was no fish on the hook. On the other side of the stream, He Ping had caught several fish, one of which was very big.

'How comes it that you catch fish casily while it is so difficult for me?' I asked.

'it's easy. Only you need Io be patient.' He Ping answered. 'Make sure that you lift the fishing rod when the whole flat has sunk. I'm sure a fish will greet you on the hook.'

After a while the floats were swinging. I kept my breath and waked. The floats became still again. 'Come on my hook, dear fish.' I was saying to myself. In a moment the floats swang again and then sank abruptly, Just at that moment I lifted my fishing rod. To my delight I caught a fish. Grlnning, I took it off the hook.

This gave me a great revelation(启示):Stamina(毅力) is what we need to achieve success. And it is more important to young people who usually lack it.
