Most of us can find 15 minutes or half an hour each day for some specific regular activity. A friend can help by timing you over a set period, or you can read within hearing distance of a public clock which strikes the quarter hours. Old Japanese living alone can now hire a "family" for lunch and a few hours' pleasant talk. Just give them a telephone call and ask for, say, a daughter, son-in-law and grandchild. They will show up at your door, and greet you emotionally as if they hadn't seen you for years.
Some 15 couples have so far hired "families". "We have nearly 80 people on the waiting list." Said the president of the company that offers such services, "What is common about these senior citizens is that they are thirsty for human love. We are helping them make their dreams come true."
Where once big families with three or more generations living together were common, now numbers are reducing fast. In cities there are very few indeed. Many old people see their families only rarely, if at all. This may be because the children's bosses have sent them to a distant city, even abroad, or just because busy family members cannot find time to visit their parents.
"We've seen many cases in which parent-children relations are not in a happy state," company president continues. "When a son finally visits his parents after a long while, it is often just to ask for money or for them to let him have their property （财产）early."
Loneliness is not a one-way street. "One young mother came to us to ask about grandparents," he added.

关于全国大学英语四六级考试听力试音 诚信参考注意事项等相关事宜的通知 各位考生： 随着全国大学英语四、六级考试的临近，在互联网、校园及周边频频出现一些与考试相关的虚假广告，希望各位考生提高警惕，防止上当受骗，不协助、不参与违法违纪之事，以良好的心态，诚信参加各级各类考试。为做好认真备考，切实防止违纪作弊等不良现象发生，现将全国大学英语四六级考试听力试音、诚信参考及注意事项等相关事宜通知如下。 一、听力试音 考生应做好考前准备，提前熟悉考场，试听调频收音机。试听时间为12月13日（周三）上午9:00至下午17:00。星湖和红河A区调频频率99兆赫，红河B区调频频率107兆赫。 二、注意事项 1.只准携带必要的文具入场，如2B铅笔（涂答题卡用）、黑色签字笔、橡皮。不准携带书包、任何书籍、笔记、报刊、纸张等，严禁携带各种通讯工具（如手机等无线接收、传送设备）以及具有存储功能的电子设备进入考场； 2.《国家教育考试考生诚信宣传片》请各位考生及相关人员考前观看，诚信参考，杜绝违纪作弊。校园网影像文理观看地址： http://218.194.176.93/resource.html?cateid=14&stationID=1&re sourceid=2152&ispirvate=false。
