Centering on English basic knowl edge and practical skills, English learning methods and cross-cultural communication, this course is an integration of foreign language teaching mode and methods. Starting with freshmen’s urgent need for expanding their vocabulary, the course requires students to command all 600 new words and corresponding phrases in New Horizon College English1. While encouraging students to enlarge their vocabulary, it also emphasizes on the importance of cultivating a good reading competence.
