Until 2017, the Emperor penguin was listed as Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, but as of 2018, they are listed as Near-Threatened because they are predicted to suffer a moderately rapid population decline over the next three generations owing to the effects of climate change. The number one threat to their survival is global warming. H ere’s how it has affected Emperor penguins and what we should do.A decrease in the amount of sea ice formation, which is caused by climate change, impacts the future of the Emperor penguin. Many Emperor penguins breed on ice shelves that only form during the Antarctic winter. There have been times in recent years when the ice shelves have melted back faster or sooner than usual. Many of the chicks haven’t completely fledged (长出飞羽) into their waterproof feathers by the time the ice melts back to their habitats, and they are forced into the cold ocean waters, where they die of cold exposure or drowning. One thing that less sea ice definitely affects is food for the penguins. One of their food sources is krill (磷虾), and the sea-ice shelves serve as a nursery for the krill. The newly-born krill feed on the algae (水藻) that grow on the underside of the sea ice. When there is less sea ice, there is less algae for the krill to feed on, and consequently less krill is produced.Measures should be taken to protect these animals. People can donate to organizations that are working to protect Emperor penguins and other penguin species, and our oceans in general. Reducing your impact on the environment, in particular, is something you can do—you can make these tiny changes to lower your carbon footprint every day. You can also be mindful about reducing seafood consumption and eating sustainably caught seafood, as overfishing is the second greatest threat to nearly every penguin species today. Also, avoid using supplements and otherproducts that contain krill or krill oil.(D)读后续写阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

Works of literature can be written in a wide variety of forms. These different types or sorts of writing are known as genre(类型).We can classify literary works by what they have in common—their styles or what they are about, for example. On a simple level, organizing works of literature into genres helps us understand the variety of literary works.Prose writing can be divided into two main types: fiction and non-fiction.Fiction includes stories that are made up by the author. They are not true in a factual sense but they may be based on scientific, historical or geographic facts.Within the broad area of fiction,we can distinguish two main types: realistic fiction and historical fiction.Realistic fiction includes stories that are set in the contemporary world and are about people and events that could happen. Most best-sellers are of this style.Realistic fiction itself has many subdivisions(划分) such as crime fiction, adventure stories and romantic stories.Stories set in the past and based on historical facts are historical fiction. Some of the characters in the stories are imaginary, while others may be real people from the past.Much of this type of fiction centers on wars or political events.Nonfiction books are based on facts and include genres such as biography, history, popular science and reference works such as dictionaries.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________One possible version:Different types of literary works can be called genres.(要点1) For example, fiction can be divided into two main types.(要点2) Stories in realistic fiction are about events that could happen in the contemporary world, while historical fiction is about stories that are based on historical facts.(要点3)Non-fiction books are written according to facts.(要点4)B(2019·湖州检测)阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

These days our society develops rapidly and forces people to rush.It appears that people have got used to being in a hurry. However,it's better for people to take their time and live their life at a slower pace than to hurry to get things done. The main reason that convinces us to oppose doing work in a hurry is the possibility of doing wrong in a rush. When people do their jobs or take action in a hurry, they can't make a sound decision and will probably regret later. As the saying goes,“Haste makes waste.”We should think carefully before making a decision and do our work less quickly. We should not make mistakes by doing work hurriedly.Slowing down the pace of life helps people enjoy their life better. For example, taking a train to some place certainly will take more time than taking a plane. However, taking a train makes people have enough time to get to know a lot of new friends.Besides,it allows people to fully enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.On the contrary, being in a hurry will make us lose chances of enjoying our lives. Finally, slower life pace provides better health conditions for us.As is known to all, taking action in a hurry bothers people and raises their stress.People think if they are not in a hurry, they will become a loser and that annoys them. But being in a hurry can hurt people both physically and mentally.According to some studies, people who have a slower pace suffer fewer diseases, tend to be happier and live much longer than those whose life is tense, even if the former finish jobs more slowly than the latter. In short, working quickly will bring about more material benefits to make our society more advanced.Yet,much stress can't bring enjoyment, friends and health, which are much more important than money and other material advantages. Therefore, take your time and live your life at a slower pace.【参考范文】It's suggested we'd better slow down rather than hurry whether in life or work.(要点1)There are mainly three reasons for it,among which one is that we are more likely to make wrong decisions if in a hurry.(要点2)Besides,people will better enioy their life if they can slow down.(要点3)Also,better health conditions result from a slow life.(要点4)In brief, being stressed will not make you happy and healthy or bring you friendship. Thus, slow down and enjoy your life.(要点5)B (2019·浙江宁波九校联考)阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Most students experience a lot of stress while preparing for exams,as both their parents and teachers expect them to get high scores.Students who feel anxious are likely to experience problems like difficulty in concentrating while studying, confusion, feeling stressed while looking at difficult questions, feeling blank, sweating, sleepless, etc.Under such circumstances they end up scoring less than they could have. Therefore,it's extremely important for students to learn about how to overcome fear,so that they can take their examination confidently, finally earning good grades. Here are a few tips on ways to overcome exam fear. There are many students who take studies lightly, leaving everything to be studied at the last minute. As a result, when exams are around the corner, they feel scared,as they don't know where to start, and what to study. So the easiest way of overcoming this problem is to start studying much before the exam.Another common mistake that many students make is that they don't make an effort to understand the subject. When they have memorized things without understanding them, the chances of forgetting are more. Therefore,it is vital to understand the concept before memorizing it.In this way, you will never forget any important point.Besides, that the exams are coming does not mean that you have to sit with your books for the entire day,and students should take regular breaks to relax and refresh their mind. However, they should avoid watching too much TV and addicting themselves to the Internet,in which way, they are more likely to waste time.Apart from the tips above, here are some points that will help students cope with examrelated anxiety. For example, before the exam, avoid studying anything new or having conversations with your classmates about what they have studied and how much they have studied, both of which will make you more nervous.During the exam, if you get blank after seeing difficult questions, ignore them for the time being, and deal with those you find easier.Once you have completed them,go back to the difficult ones.【写作指导】本文指出了学生考前压力产生的原因以及克服的办法。

I had much practice climbing drainpipes (排水管) as a teenager, when I forgot my keys. It wasn’t a skill I expected to need again on a sunny bank holiday.I’d arranged to meet my wife in the beer garden of a local hotel. As I approached, I could hear raised voices. I thought maybe some people had drunk, but as I walked into the garden, I saw everyone looking up, including my wife. Following their sight, I saw a child on top of a roof sticking out from the hotel.I realized the people in the garden had arranged themselves underneath, in the hope that one of them would be able to catch him if he fell. From the other side of the roof, I heard a woman’s voice begging him to sit down and keep still. It was the boy’s mother, who had tried to climb up to him and become trapped halfway. The child ignored his mother’s voice and his every movement brought a fresh gasp (倒抽气) of anxiety from onlookers. The firemen had been called, but no one knew how long they’d take. I imagined the firemen working their way across the city, slowed by holiday traffic. The thought of looking on helplessly as the boy lost his footing made me feel sick. Scanning the side of the building, I quickly worked out the quickest way up and made for the drainpipe. It was old and looked as if it might break away from the wall, but I managed to quickly climb onto the roof. Above me, the child paid me little attention and didn’t appear to be frightened at all. He was no older than two. I realized I’d be unable to predict his responses. My only choice now was to keep climbing. The roof narrowed as it rose and I planted myself as firmly as I could on the edge, caught the boy and helped him on to my lap.

At the center of the mall was the perfect Santa with a gentle manner and a real white beard. My six-year-old granddaughter,Leah, jumped from foot to foot as we waited in line for her turn to sit on his lap.“I don’t know what to say,〞 Leah said, raising her neck around the kids in front of her.“Sure you do,〞her mother,Leanne, said.“It’s Santa. He’s already your friend. You’ll do just fine.〞“He’ll ask you what you want for Christmas,〞I said.“And you just tell him.〞We’d gone over and over the toys she’d ask for.Her mother didn’t want surprises! Leah repeated the list. But a minute later, she inserted new toys she’d just spotted at the mall.“I’ve got an idea,〞 said Leanne, digging into her purse as the line inched forward.“Let’s write down your requests so you won’t forget them.〞I couldn’t help but laugh.Going to see Santa was such an important appointment for a six-year-old.No child should have any worries bigger than that. But the night before,on the news,I’d see n a village in the Middle East that had come under fire. Many of the wounded were children just like our Leah.Looking around the mall full of magical decorations and happy shoppers I felt safe,as safe as anyone could be.Everyone in the world should have that kind of security, especially at Christmas.“Okay,〞Leanne said.“Now you’ve got everything you want written down here.If you get nervous you can just give the note to Santa.〞Leah nodded and took the list. She read out loud,“A Chia Pet,Moon Sand andAquadoodle.〞“Why don’t you add a fourth request,Leah,〞I heard myself say.“Ask for peaceonearth.〞 My daughter looked a little surprised by my suggestion.“What’s peace on earth,Grandma?〞 Leah asked.“Peace on earth means all the people in the world would get along. That’s the true meaning of Christmas.〞Leah nodded seriously.“Yes,〞 she agreed.注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2.应使用5个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写局部分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。

概要写作专练 答案提供详尽解析,旨在指导考生拓展写作思路,提升写作能力。 概要写作专练(一) A (2018·浙江省名校联盟第三次联考) 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。 Some years ago, writing in my diary used to be a usual activity.I would return from school and spend the expected half hour recording the day’s events, feelings, and impressions in my little blue diary. I did not really need to express my emotions by way of words, but I gained a certain satisfaction from seeing my experiences forever recorded on paper. After all, isn’t accumulating memories a way of preserving the past? When I was thirteen years old, I went on a long journey on foot in a great valley, wellequipped with pens, a diary, and a camera. During the trip, I was busy recording every incident, name and place I came across. I felt proud to be spending my time productively, dutifully preserving for future generations a detailed description of my travels. On my last night there, I wandered out of my tent, diary in hand. The sky was clear and lit by the glare of the moon, and the walls of the valley looked threatening behind their screen of shadows. I automatically took out my pen ... At that point, I understood that nothing I wrote could ever match or replace the few seconds I allowed myself to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley. All I remembered of the previous few days were the dull characterizations I had set down in my diary. Now, I only write in my diary when I need to write down a special thought or feeling. I still love to record ideas and quotations that strike me in books, or observations that are particularly meaningful. I take pictures, but not very often — only of objects I find really beautiful. I’m no longer blindly satisfied with having something to remember when I grow old. I realize that life will simply pass me by if I stay behind the camera, busy preserving the present so as to live it in the future. I don’t want to wake up one day and have nothing but a pile of pictures and notes. Maybe I won’t have as many exact representations of people and places; maybe I’ll forget certain facts, but at least the experiences will always remain inside me. I don’t live to make memories — I just live, and the memories form themselves.

该文第一段围绕着首句“Some years ago, writing in my diary used to be a usual activity.” 第二段讲述作者在写日记一事上的转变,全段没有主题句,因此可围绕change一词将本段大意概括为“The author’s attitude towards the diary changed after a trip to a valley.”。 第三段围绕首句“Now, I only write in my diary when I need to write down a special thought or feeling.” 第四段是作者的感悟,即“I don’t live to make memories — I just live, and the memories form themselves.”。 The author had made it a routine to keep a detailed diary of her/his everyday life to store memories.(要点1) That changed after a trip to a valley, where she/he realized breathtaking scenery was meant to be felt with heart rather than written down mechanically.(要点2) Thus, she/he has become selective about what to put in her/his diary, (要点3) focusing on the present instead of busying herself/himself with recording memories for the past or the future.(要点4) 三、范文解析 要点1中,“made it a routine”准确地表达了作者每日像例行公事般地记日记的状态,用目的状语“to store memories”补充信息,使要点信息更全面。 要点3由Thus一词引出作者现在写日记的方式,即“become selective about what to put in her/his diary”,同时通过非谓语结构“focusing on ... instead of busying ...” Group singing is a sound that begins inside you, shares it with a roomful of people and it comes back as something even more thrilling: harmony. So it’s not surprising that group singing is on the rise. As the popularity of group singing grows, science has been hard at work trying to explain why it has such a calming yet energizing effect on people. What researchers are beginning to discover is that singing is like a filling of the perfect tranquilizer (镇静剂), the kind that both eases your nerves and lifts your spirits. The high spirits may come from endorphins, a hormone (荷尔蒙) released by singing, which is associated with feelings of pleasure. Or it might be from oxytocin, another hormone released during singing, which has been found to ease anxiety and stress.Oxytocin also strengthens feeling of trust and bonding, which may explain why still more studies have found that singing lessens feelings of depression and loneliness. The benefits of singing regularly seem to be accumulative. In one study, singers were found to have lower levels of stress. Another investigation suggesting that our heart rates may keep pace with each other during group singing could also explain why singing together sometimes feels like a guided group meditation. Study after study has found that singing relieves anxiety and contributes to quality of life.
