After returning from Japan in 1964, the 26-year-old Knight began peddling Onitsuka running shoes across the Pacific Northwest. Knight still kept his day job as an accountant. But he persevered, convinced that his inexpensive, high-performance shoes could beat the top "sneakers"--Adidas, Converse All-Stars and Keds--in the market. By 1969, Knight sold a million bucks worth of Onitsuka shoes bearing his Blue Ribbon Sports label. In 1971, Knight decided he could retire his accountant's wing tips. It was also time to give his fledgling company a new name and logo. Knight favored "Dimension Six," but his 45 employees thankfully laughed that one down. Then Jeff Johnson, a fellow running geek, proposed a name that came to him in a dream: Nike, for the Greek winged goddess of victory. The company paid $35 to commission a new logo--a "swoosh"--and the new shoe debuted at the 1972 Olympic trials in Eugene, Ore.

Car boot sales or boot fairs are a form of market in which private individuals come together to sell household and garden goods. They are popular in the United Kingdom, where they are often referred to simply as 'car boots'. The term refers to the selling of items from a car's boot. Although a small proportion of sellers are professional traders selling goods, or indeed browsing for items to buy, most of the goods on sale are used personal possessions. Car boot sales are a way of attracting a large group of people in one place to recycle useful but unwanted domestic items that otherwise might have been thrown away.
Car boot sales generally take place in the summer months. However, in a growing trend, indoor boot sales and all year hard-standing outdoor boot sales are now appearing in some parts of the UK. Items for sale are extremely varied, including for example antiques and collectables, as in a flea market. Car boot sales are also very popular in parts of Australia, and have a growing presence in mainland Europe.

With the development of business intelligence, more and more companies are recognizing that an efficient system for data collection and analysis is necessary for growing their businesses. An e-commerce platform simplifies raw sales data capture, as well as data for customer profiling and order-processing information—any data that is necessary for providing a greater understanding of the retailer’s business. The data collection capabilities of the Internet give e-commerce platforms a strategic advantage over in-store retail, where data is much more difficult to capture in a systematic and organized way.

Ask yourself what is holding you back from having a loving relationship. Perhaps you are hurt from a previous break-up. Maybe you are afraid of commitment. Identify these issues and find ways to resolve them. In addition, examine your previous relationships and learn from them. What mistakes did you make? What aspects of a previous relationship would you want to develop in a future relationship? Finally, examine other factors that might affect your partner choice: cultural norms, expectations of male and female roles, religious.

4 To reverse its falling market share, Payless had to plan a completely new strategy. To get things started, it hired a new CEO, Matt Rubel, who came with extensive experience in the high-end brand market.Rubel knew that Payless had to change its image from the dusty storeroom of cheap shoes into the fun merchant of fashion.“We have the ability to make shoes at the most affordable prices anywhere in the world, and we want to marry that with the greatest creativity,” said Rubel. The overall objective of Rubel’s strategy was not only to improve the brand image, but also position Payless in such a way that a slight price increase would seem like a bargain.Rubel wasted no time in making big changes.

教学重点:
1. To have general ideas of the texts 2. To be clear about how fast you can learn and how to learn fast
教学难点:
How to improve reading speed as soon as possible by using the four reading methods.
Step 4nt is the consigning, which is placing any material in the hand of another, but retaining ownership until the goods are sold or person is transferred. This may be done for shipping, transfer of goods to auction, or for sale in a store (i.e., a consignment shop). To consign means to send and therefore consignment means sending goods to another person . Step 5 Give-away shop Give-away shops, swap shops, free-shops, or free stores are stores where all goods are free. They are similar to charity shops, with mostly second-hand items—only everything is available at no cost. Whether it is a book, a piece of furniture, a garment or a household item, it is all freely given away, although some operate a one-in, one-out–type policy (swap shops).
Step 2 Estate sale
An estate sale or estate liquidation is a sale or auction to dispose of a substantial portion of the materials owned by a person who is recently deceased or who must dispose of his or her personal property to facilitate a move

教学目的及要求:
1. To have general ideas of some other sales or shops other than car boot sale; 2. To remember and use new words and expressions; 3. To be clear about how fast you can learn and how to learn fast.
旁批栏:
Step 3 Charity shop
A charity shop, thrift shop, thrift store (U.S., Canada), hospice shop, resale shop (unless meaning consignment shop [U.S.]), opportunity shop or op shop (Australia/N.Z.) is a retail establishment run by a charitable organization to raise money. Charity shops are a type of social enterprise. They sell mainly used goods donated by members of the public, and are often staffed by volunteers. Because the items for sale were obtained for free, and business costs are low, the items can be sold at competitive prices. After costs are paid, all remaining income from the sales is used in accord with the organization's stated charitable purpose. Costs include purchase and/or depreciation of fixtures (clothing racks, bookshelves, counters, etc.), operating costs (maintenance, municipal service fees, electricity, telephone, limited advertising) and the building lease or mortgage.
III. Teaching process
Step 1 Jumble sale
A jumble sale, bring and buy sale (U.K, Australia, occasionally Canada) or rummage sale (U.S and Canada) is an event at which second hand goods are sold, usually by an institution such as a local Boys' Brigade Company, Scout group, or church, as a fundraising or charitable effort. A rummage sale by a church is called a church sale or white elephant sale, frequently as part of a church bazaar.
