If you look at the sky one night and see something moving and shining that you have never seen before, it might be a comet (彗星).A comet sometimes looks like a star. Like a planet, a comet has no light of its own. It shines from the sunlight it reflects (反射). Like the earth, a comet goes round the sun, but on a much longer path (轨道) than the earth travels. If a comet isn’t a star, what is it then? Some scientists think that a large part of a comet is water frozen into pieces of ice and mixed with iron and rock dust and perhaps a few big pieces of rock. When sunshine melts (溶化) the ice in the comet, great clouds of gas go trailing after it. These clouds, together with the dust, form a long tail. Many people perhaps have seen a comet. However no one knows how many comets there are. There may be millions of comets, but only a few come close enough for us to see.An Englishman named Edmund Halley, who lived from 1656 to 1742, found out a lot about the paths that comets take through the sky. Some comets move out of our sight and never come back. Others keep coming back at regular times. A big comet that keeps coming back was named after Halley because he was the one who worked out when it would come back again. Maybe you have ever seen Halley’s Comets because the last time it came close to the sun and the earth was in the year 1986. Then people all over the world were outside at night to look at it. You will probably be able to see Halley’s Comets when it comes near the earth again.1.A comet is like ________.A. sunB. moonC. sunlightD. the earth2.A large part of a comet is ______.A.water and rockB. water frozen into pieces of ice and mixed with ironC. ice, iron and rock dustD. only a few big pieces of rock3.Maybe many people _______.A. haven’t seen any cometsB. have seen all cometsC. have seen a comet at daytimeD. have seen a comet4.Some comets keep coming back ________.A. at any timeB. at noonC. at regular timesD. at daytime5.Halley’s Comets came back _____.A. in 1990B. in 1980C. in 1986D. in 1989Passage 1【答案与解析】本文向我们介绍了有关彗星方面的学问。

People send birthday greetings by using cards in both eastern and western countries. It is not known when and where exactly the tradition of sending birthday cards began. It is believed that it began in England in the early nineteenth century. In those days people sent birthday cards when they couldn't wish somebody a happy birthday in person. In 1840 the first stamp was used in Britain and sending birthday cards became easier, cheaper and more popular. The development of color printing processes (工艺流程) in the 1930s also helped to increase sales of birthday cards.Today cards are often given with a present, even when people can express their wishes face to face. In recent times e-cards have also become popular. Many people are starting to use e-cards instead of traditional cards because they are free, environmentally friendly and easy to arrive. So will e-cards take place of paper cards completely in ten or twenty years? Probably not. For example, for kids and old people, they don't use e-cads very often. If our birthday is coming soon, do you wish that at least one person could congratulate you with a beautiful card then?(1)People send birthday cards in different counties.(2)The tradition of sending birthday cards began in France in the early 18th century.(3)Sending birthday cards became more popular after the stamps were used.(4)We are sure that e-cards will take paper cards' place completely in twenty years.(5)Kids and old people often use e-cards.【答案】(1)1(2)0(3)1(4)0(5)0【解析】【分析】大意:不同的国家的人们通过送生日卡片来向表达生日问候,送生日卡片始于19世纪英国。

1. Storytelling has caught the human imagination for thousands of years. People everywhere have told stories to amuse(消遣), to teach, toremember, and just to pass the time. People started telling stories long before writing was invented. 1 But people all over the world still tell one another stories out loud. A person who can tell a good story nearly always finds listeners. Before people developed writing, storytelling was the most important way to pass along information. Anything a culture wanted to protect—its beliefs, its history, and its traditions—had to be told out loud. Each generation would tell the culture’s stories to the next. 2 Knowledge passed on in this method is called the spoken tradition. Even cultures that know how to write still pass along some information in this way.3 In other cultures only special storytellers were trusted to do this important job. A culture’s best storytellers had good memories. Theycould also make the stories very interesting, so people would listen and remember them. Sometimes people would sing the stories or tell them in the form of poems. 4However, stories told aloud change over time as different people tell them. A storyteller might change a story in order to make it better. Or a teller may simply not remember all the details of a story. Unlike written stories, the spoken tradition is not created by any one person. 5 Sometimes the stories are collected and written down long after they have been created.A.In this way the stories were passed along.B.In some cultures everyone would pass along the stories.C.Soon storytelling became very popular all over the world.D.Songs and poems can both make stories easier to remember.E.Instead, a whole culture helps shape the changing stories in history.F.The spoken tradition is created by good storytellers rather than listeners.G.Today stories are also written down in books and acted out in movies, TV shows, and plays.2. Blue LightningSally loved cars more than anything else. This spring she thought of building a go-kart to enter for the Go-Go Race. So she asked her dad for help."Well," he said. "How about this: you do some research first and then come back to me with a design."A week later, Sally brought her notes and drawings to Dad. She named her go-kart "Blue Lightning". Dad looked over her work, thinking. "Well, that's interesting," he said. "Have a try. Just build Blue Lightning as you've designed."Over three weekends of hard work, Sally turned her design into a real, working go-kart and painted it light blue. Dad asked her to take it for a test drive. Sally agreed. After she did that, Sally drove back to Dad. "Well," she said. "Now I know why you wanted me to have a test drive.""Oh, do you?" he said. "Please share.""When I drove fast, there was a lot of pushback," she said. "I think it's because of the lightning bolt (闪电) shape.""Very good!" Dad said."So, why didn't you tell me about that problem in the first place?" Sally asked.Dad laughed. "Where's the fun in that? If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. But if you teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime."Sally said, "I see. Anyway, designing is half the fun!"Dad smiled. "Good. Sometimes, learning happens during the process. We learn how to do something right by doing it a few times first and making mistakes along the way."That encouraged Sally and she worked even harder. When she showed Dad her new go-kart, he nodded with pride. Finally came the race. Sally wasn't worried about whether she would win—in her mind, she had already won, by building something better than ever before.(1)Sally thought of building a go-kart to ________.A. practice drivingB. enter for a raceC. play with friendsD. do some research (2)What did Sally's dad ask her to do after she built the go-kart?A.

1.What is the main idea of this passage?2.What does this passage mainly talk about?3.From the passage/ paragraph we can learn that...4.The best title for this passage is...5.The writer want to tell us that....6.The passage/paragraph is mainly about...7.The main purpose is to....二、解题方法:干扰选项的特点:伤心绝对:常见表否定的词有:never, not, useless, hardly, seldom, little, few, no,none, nobody, nothing等;表绝对肯定的词有:all, must, always, 最高级。

细节题考察主要包括一般细节题(when, why, how, what等)、正误判断(which is true/right/ not true) 以及(...except)题。
