谚语的翻译
谚语具有诗歌的活泼，文学的凝重，熟语的简洁， 道理的深刻，寓意广远，因而在各种文体中常见。 谚语的特点：富于形象，用具体来表达抽象的意思； 简练概括，以极少的词语表示极丰富的内容。其 修辞手法是比喻、拟人、对偶、押韵等。
书到用时方恨少。

one + be absent in + 地点，意为“......去......了，不在此处”。
昨日英译汉：我在上海的时候，在上一个公司任前台接待。
昨日汉译英：Cheer up!今日英译汉：Give an example of a successful project you were part of. What was your role? Why was the project successful?今日汉译英：做得好!3.昨天习语：Before you could say Jack Robinson, my purse was stolen.转眼间，我的钱包就被人偷走了。
before you could [can] say Jack Robinson是习语（副词短语），意为“转眼间”、“突然”、“说是迟那时快”、“很快”。

应注意的问题
1. 注意译文的确切含义 “洗手不干”不能译成“to wash one’s hands of ”, 因 为该译文表示的是“to disclaim responsibility”,即推脱 责任，断绝关系。
2. 要尽量译出原文的形象 呕心沥血 译文1. take infinite pains 译文2. to work one’s heart out 民怨沸腾 译文1. There is a popular discontent. 译文2. The people are boiling with resentment.
直、意译结合法
怨声载道：“怨声”译为cries of discontent, voices of discontent, grievance或complaints，但是“载道” 不能译为fill the road ,但可以意译为all around 或 everywhere。两者结合起来为：Complaints are heard everywhere或 voices of grievances are heard everywhere。 斩草除根：pluck up the evil by the roots
2.不能把习语当作普通的语句来处理，要避免字字对 译，歪曲原文。

1.one track-mind 一根筋儿（track [træk] n.轨道；足迹）一个人的心思只往一个方向想stop reasoning with him.don't you know he is one track-mind。

2.a black sheep 败家子（在英文里面是俚语，意思是害群之马，因为黑羊比较廉价，而白羊比较好，一群白羊里面有一只黑羊，表明在一群好的事物之中有个不好的事物，引申出来的意思就是害群之马）splash a big sum.挥霍一大笔钱（splash [splæʃ]溅；婆sum [sʌm]金额）Dick is a black sheep,always bringing trouble to family.3.people of his sort他那号人（sort 种类）how could he think l would go back on my words? l am not his sort,who is fickle and always blowing hot and cold. （fickle[ˈfɪkl]浮躁的，易变的）他怎么知道我会变卦，我可不是他那号人，整天喜怒无常的，说变就变。
4.the salt of the earth 没有坏心眼的人（很有用的俚语，盐在古代就被看得很贵重，被认为是尊贵的象征。
这个俚语出自《新约。
马太福音》耶稣对他的门徒说：“you are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor,where with shall it be salted ?你们是世上的盐，盐若失了味，如何才能再咸呢？）所以意思就是中坚力量，精英，高尚的人Alice is really the salt of the earth, she has neither lied to nor harmed anyone.Alice没有一点坏心眼，从来不说谎话，也没做过对不起别人的事。
