世界在变化、时代在发展、社会在前进,作为人类交流的工具,语言必然随着时代的发展
而变化,特别是英语,这已被公认的通用语言的变化更是让人始料不及。由于英语在世界上的
重要地位和它的广泛使用,各国人民在使用英语的过程中不断的吸收、交融、创新就形成了
各种各样带有某个国家、某个民族或某个地区特色的英语。那种所谓的BBC标准英语不再
被人们认为是“惟一”的标准英语了。现在除了英国英语、美国英语和澳大利亚英语外,还有
印度英语、加拿大英语、新加坡英语等,以后可能还会出现中国英语。

背景知识
1.Noah Webster诺厄·韦伯斯特
美国词典编纂家。他是正式提出“美语并且为
之做了很多工作、产生重要影响的第一个人。在韦伯斯特1828年出版的
《An American Dictionary of the English》(美国英语词典)里,除了采用不同
的拼写方式、强调单词的美国发音和美国用法,并且收入许多美国特有的
词汇以外,还从美国人的著作里摘引了很多例句。在他的词典和著作以及
其他一些文章里,韦伯斯特所表达的都是同样一个意思,那就是这个国家所
说的英语,应该是一种“American thing”(美国国粹);应该从独立的、美国的
角度来看待它,并且承认它有自己的发展道路。

英国英语是由15世纪初英格兰的一种地方语言发展而来的,而美国英语是由17世纪初
英国殖民者带至北美的英国英语演变成的。
现在使用英国英语作为母语的国家和地区有大不列颠群岛、澳大利亚、新西兰、南非和
西印度群岛;使用美国英语作为母语的国家主要有美国和加拿大。
英国英语和美国英语是同一种语言,它们几乎没有语法上的差别,只是在语音、语调、词
汇、句子表达方面有一些差别,但这种差别还不足以影响使用英国英语的人和使用美国英语
的人之间的交流。因为二者无论是过去还是现在,毕竟都是同一种语言,而且将来也不会发展
成两种语言。随着英美两国及全世界人民交流的日益频繁,两者将更易于融合和理解。
