Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36)
Description
A general indicator of health status (function and well-being) and includes primarily non-psychiatric health status questions. The SF-36 is a well-researched, reliable and valid broad-based, sophisticated instrument with population norms and normative data for a wide variety of medical conditions. The SF-36 assesses health-related quality of life in 8 areas: 1) limitations in physical activities because of health problems; 2) limitations in social activities because of physical or emotional problems; 3) limitations in usual role activities because of physical health problems; 4) bodily pain;
5) general mental health; 6) limitations in usual role activities because of emotional problems; 7) vitality (energy and fatigue); and 8) general health perceptions.
The original version of SF-36 [Ware & Sherborne, 1992] was used in this study. This dataset contains the scores of eight SF-36 subscales above.
Study Sample
227 participants in the study completed SF-36 instrument.
Data Collection Method
SF-36 questionnaire was self-administered in paper-and-pencil format on the arrival day at the clinic.
