我对在校大学生结婚问题的看法

Outline:

1. 有些人持反对意见。

2. 有些人表示支持。

3. 我的看法……

My View on On-campus College Students’ Marriage It is a new thing that Chinese on-campus college students are legally allowed to get married before they complete their courses. Many people applaud / welcome this new development while others have expressed their concern about this.

Those who take sides against this new trend believe that college students will inevitably have less time and energy for their academic life because married students have more real-life problems to deal with than those unmarried ones.

One common argument, however, for on-campus college students’ marriage is that a number of students do have a desire for an ideal marriage. Now that they have come of age (已经成年), they are entitled to such happiness.

Of the two views discussed above, I’m in favor of the former. My reason is that on-campus students are laden with academic tasks. If one gets married now, he or she has to work much harder than any other student because they have to solve their financial problems at the same time. As a married couple, for instance, they are supposed to rent a room in or outside the university, which will naturally add to their spending.

My View on the Post-graduate Craze

Every year, million of college students will sit in for the post-graduate entrance examination. More and more students have regarded the pursuing of a master degree as an indispensable part of their education.

What is to account for their enthusiasm for a post-graduate diploma? First, it is the demand of the time. In an age of knowledge updating and information explosion, what you have learned in college can hardly meet the demand of

society. Talents of high quality who are equipped with the latest knowledge and skill will be needed more than ever. That is why many students will further their studies.

Second, we all recognize that the more education you have, the more likely you are to succeed. Compared with those without a master degree, masters will enjoy more preferential treatment, for example, better salaries, more opportunities for promotion and training. A post-graduate degree can guarantee a more promising career. Last but not the least, with the graduation of a large number of college students, competition for jobs becomes more and more fierce. One way to gain some advantage over others is to have a higher degree.

No wonder millions of students will consider pursuing a post-graduate degree.

A Keen Interest in Certificates

Outline:

1、越来越多的大学生热衷于获取更多的证书。

2、请分析此现象。

3、提出对“证书热”中不良管理措施。

Today, in China some people say that China has entered an age of certificates. People are busy obtaining varied certificates, such as Mandarin (普通话) certificate, computer level certificate. It is said, in major cities, even the baby-sitters are demanded to hold certain training certificates before they are formally employed. Living in this nation-wide time-tide, the university students are unavoidably involved in this “Certificate Rush”.

What caused this phenomenon?Personally, there are at least two factors contributing to it. First, the competition for employment is becoming more and more fierce. More certificates mean more secure opportunities for work. The second is from the national government, which is trying to standardize the employment market. Thus arises a question: Is Certificate Rush a good thing or not? Obviously it is, but some trouble is brought about.

The most serous “headache” is that more and more false certificates are being used as true ones, and the management has no effective way to stop this. High-tech is employed to detect the deceit, but the false certificates have not died out. Here, we appeal to the government fro stricter cracking down (更加严厉的手段). Meanwhile, the national moral quality needs rapid enhancement, which will prove

to be a basic prescription for the bad phenomenon.

Mutual Understanding Is Important

Outline:

1.青少年希望可以自由支配闲暇时间。

2.然而,大多数家长不理解他们的孩子。

3.我认为青少年与家长的矛盾关键在于缺乏沟通与交流。

Parents and teenagers often disagree about the amount of freedom and responsibility that young people are to have.

Teenagers often want to be free to choose their own directions to spend leisure time. Some like to learn photography or painting, while others prefer to sit around and talk or sing. Still others wish to select their own courses in school and plan for their own vocational goals. Young people as a whole are anxious to be understood by their parents.

On the other hand, most parents do not quite understand their children. They regard it as their responsibility to teach offspring traditional beliefs and they want the young people to be obedient and do well in school. There always exists a tendency for parents to interfere in children’s daily activities, insisting that homework be completed, while teenagers’ particular interests and hobbies are often neglected or even ignored.

Personally, I think most problems between teenagers and their parents yield best to joint planning and decision-making. Within any given family disagreements are avoided and problems are solved when all of the persons take interest in the situation and share in working it out. Hence parents and young people must realize the necessity to learn how to understand each other and develop skills in communication---speaking and listening. Thus, even the most difficult problems can be solved.

How to Win Friends

Outline:

1.Some people have lots of friends, but some have few friends.

2.How to win friends? Here are several techniques.

3.We will have more friends if we know how to win friends.

Some people have lots of friends, but some have few friends. What’s wrong with

the latter? Is he unwilling to have friends or do esn’t he have the ability? In my opinion, his ability here is unfortunately weak. How to win friends is a significant task facing every one in the age of communication.

How to win friends? Here are several techniques. Firstly, one ought to be helpful, honest, adaptable and even a bit humorous. Secondly, one must develop varied hobbies, which contributes to making friends to a great extent. Last but not the least, one must be good at advertising or promoting himself, in other words, he has to make his strong points felt.

We will have more friends if we know how to win friends. That’s true, but is only the first step. The difficult and important thing to do is practical work. More practice, more success. In addition, one cannot be discouraged from making friends when he is hurt or betrayed by friends. Always remember: friends are invisible riches and we need them just as we need sunshine.

In Honor of Teachers on the Occasion of Teacher's Day

Outline:

1、向老师表达节日祝贺

2、从一件小事来回忆老师的教诲和无私的奉献

3、我如何回报老师的关爱

September 10th is a special occasion, on which we students can express our sincere gratitude to our respectable teachers.

In my memory, Mr. Jiang, my Chemistry teacher in high school, impressed me most in my past school years. At that time, I did rather poorly in Chemistry, which made me very upset. Mr. Jiang, a considerate and patient teacher, did not have any bias (偏见) against me, who lagged far behind the others. Instead, he encouraged me and worked out an individualized plan for me. Highly motivated by this, I got interested in this subject, found the correct methods and managed to catch up with others.

I will never forget those who have dedicated all their efforts to help me grow intellectually. Working even harder and making my due contributions, I think, will be most rewarding to my teachers.

This is Teachers' Day and a time to be grateful to all teachers. This profession deserves the special recognition and respect. There is no more appropriate time than this to honor you and others in your chosen field. You have my eternal gratefulness. Have a happy Teachers' Day. The whole secret of the teacher's force lies in the conviction that men are convertible. Teacher, who educate children, deserve more honor than parents, who merely gave them birth; for the latter provided more life, while the former ensure a good life. What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to the soul.

My heartfelt thanks to you, dear teacher. On the voyage of life, you have kindled the light of hope for me. What you have done enriches my mind and broadens my view. On this day I honor you sincerely. No one deserves a bigger thank you than you. One day is hardly enough to show our gratitude.

Should the University Campus Be Open to Tourists? Outline:

1、名校校园正成为旅游新热点

2、校园是否应对游客开放,人们看法不同

3、我认为……

Nowadays, many famous university campuses have become one of the popular tourist attraction. It has been shown on TV and on the radio that every year thousands and thousands of middle school students visit Tsing Hua University and Peking

University and other famous universities in China. In the place far away from the capital city, the local students also visit the universities famous in their own province.

So far as the present situation is concerned, is it a good or bad thing to open the

the university campus for tourists? Different people have different opinions. On one

hand, some people argued that it is a good thing for the students to visit the famous university campus in that it can enable the middle students to get more

information about the university and they can have enough time and opportunity to prepare themselves with the chance to get into the university. On the other hand, some people hold a negative view about this phenomenon. In their opinion, the public tourism will have negative effect on the universities because it will not only do harm to the environment but also to the intellectual atmosphere.

In my opinion, the tourism to the universities is not a good thing. The campus is

mainly a place for study . With the increasing tourism on the campus, it will ruin the spiritual atmosphere in this learning field.

Immoral Behavior in Public

Outline:

1、我们经常在公共场合见到各种不道德的行为,叙述你的一次相关经历。

2、这些不文明的行为会有哪些影响。

3、我们应该怎样改善这种现象。

To witness immoral behavior in public, one need only visit the Beijing subway. I still remember the first time I took the Beijing subway. It was an early morning. I was in a hurry to go to school. When I was trying to get a ticket, I found a lot of people waiting in front of me, but nobody was in the line.

Immoral behaviors in public exert a series of problems. One of the most serious ones is that it may exert a negative impact on our sense of social responsibility. We will keep ignoring other people’s rights and feelings, and in turn, we too will be disrespected some day.

The improvement of this phenomenon is certainly not easy. With an eye on practical implementation and cost effectiveness, I propose that society make it clear in every way that people who fail to respect the common good will be seriously punished. Stricter policies for this should be made to correct this phenomenon as soon as possible.

Should Olympic Athletes Get High Salaries

Outline:

1、雅典奥运会后,关于获奖运动员高薪的问题引起了社会的广泛关注。

2、有些人支持这种做法,认为运动员们付出了很多,赢得回报;有些人则持反对意见。

3、我的观点

After the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, the topic of whether it is fair for athletes to pocket large sums of money from their Olympic participation is arousing more and more interest from the public.

Those who support high salaries for these athletes may offer some of the following reasons. Firstly, just as the old saying goes, “no pains, no gains.” The athletes in the Olympic Games must have undergone painstaking physical and psychological training. It naturally follows that they deserve commensurate compensation for these sacrifices. What’s more, they make significant contributions to a positive international reputation for their countries. This gives them yet another reason to deserve monetary compensation in addition to the advantages already offered them. The main reason that the naysayer (反对者) often have is that they do little to boost the national economy directly, and thus should not receive compensation of the monetary kind. Even the naysayer admits, however, that these athletes do offer a lot of positive encouragement to young people in persuading them to participate in physical activity.

As for me, I side with the supporters of greater compensation for Olympic

athletes. The more we give, the more we deserve to have. On account of all the time and energy they spend in rigorous training, I firmly believe that they should get high salaries.

Blood Donation without Repayment

Outline:

1.The importance of blood

2.The significance of blood donation

3.Harmless effect on donation

Blood is indispensable(不可或缺的)to human body. It carries nourishment and oxygen to tissues, and meanwhile, removes wastes and carbon dioxide. A person will die if he loses too much blood. Nowadays blood transfusion is saving millions of dying people. Without adequate store of blood, there can’t be the development of modern medicine.

It is a noble action for a person to donate blood without repayment. The action shows his love to his country and people. At present, blood donation is widely carried out in many countries. It should be advocated(提倡)in our country. If more and more people join in as voluntary donators, our hospitals would have a continuous supply of blood.

Blood donation would not do harm to the donator’s health. Only healthy people are allowed to donate blood. In particular, every time, only a small amount of blood is drawn out from a donator. His body will make a quick adjustment to let the mechanism operate in his normal way.

Cheating in Examinations

Outline:

1.考试作弊已经成为高校普遍存在的一大问题

2.考试作弊的不良影响

3.我认为

Nowadays, cheating in exams is commonplace in colleges and universities. It is considered to be a major problem by the school authorities. Some students do

not study hard at their usual time. But during the examinations, they always cheat in order to pass the examinations.

Cheating in examinations has very bad effects. First,it is impossible to reveal one’s weakness of knowledge. So it is difficult for a teacher to know how to help such students. Second,it may encourage other students to cheat in the examinations, too. Third, it is not helpful for fair competition. Some students do not study hard, yet their grades are high.

As far as I am concerned, cheating in examinations is an unhealthy tendency. As a student, we should always be strict with us. We shouldn’t deceive ourselves, nor should we deceive others.

Should Women Have Equal Job Opportunities with Men?

This table shows the different opinions if women should have equal job opportunities in the following three countries, China, the U.S.A., and Japan.

As can be seen in the table, the people who agree with this point exceed those who disagree, especially in China. However, there are still some people in the three countries, especially in Japan who are against women’s equal job opportunities with men.

The reason may go as follows: On the one hand, as society develops, women’s social position has been raised greatly. In China, certain laws have been passed to protect women’s rights. In the U.S.A., it is illegal to discriminate against women in employment. On the other hand, women are still considered inferior to men in many aspects as a result of traditional ideas as well as physiological differences between men and women. This is more serious in Japan.

In my opinion, women’s importance in society should be admitted. They should be provided with more job opportunities rather than looked down upon.

The Bus and the Subway Train

City traffic is a big problem in some cities in the world, especially in big cities. To solve the problem, some are in favor of developing buses as means of city traffic. Others are in favor of the subway train. Between them, which is the better choice?

It is easier to take buses as means of city traffic than the subway trains because buses don’t need special roads. But buses also have many disadvantages, some of which are very serious. They may cause louder noise and more traffic accidents. Buses give rise to serious pollution and traffic jam. In order to stop what buses cause, a large amount of land must be used to widen the roads. On the contrary, the subway train is of more advantages.Except for the difficulty and high cost of building the subway, it is superior to the buses in many aspects.

Taking the advantages and disadvantages together into consideration, I would be in favor of developing the subway train as soon as possible.

How to Make Good Use of College Life

College life is the most important period in our life. In this period, we get ourselves well prepared, both mentally and physically, for our future. We learn not only from books but also put our book knowledge into practice through various activities. Meanwhile, we make our lifelong friends who would be of great help in the future.

Some students, however,do not cherish the precious college life. They don’t know the aim of education and their responsibility for the society. On the contrary,

they usually spend most of their time and energy on some time-consuming activities or other activities that are not relevant to their study. As a result, they waste their college life.

Therefore,we should make the best use of college life. We should first know our responsibility for the society. We should also realize that for a student, the priority should always be given to study.Besides, college students should participate in beneficial social activities to widen knowledge and enrich experience.

[Model 16]

Competition and Cooperation

Competition is a common phenomenon in our social life. We compete when we play games; we compete in our studies; and there is constant competition for jobs, customers, profit, etc. Therefore, we can draw a conclusion that competition is one of the motives of the development of society.

But we often find competition and cooperation come hand in hand. In a football game, one team is competing with the other. But each member of the team is cooperating with his teammates. In most cases,we can’t compete without cooperation. Thus they are equally important.

While we are advocating competition, we can’t forget cooperation. Nothing can be carried to extreme. Pure and exclusive competition leads to failures. Only when competition combines with cooperation can it help in obtaining our goals and satisfying our needs.

[Model 17] Letter-writing Will Never Be Replaced

Outline:

1、年轻人喜欢打电话。

2、书信能表达微妙的情感。

3、书信是不会被替代的。

Nowadays, young people choose to phone each other rather than write letters. But I still maintain that letter-writing will never be killed by phones.

First, letters can express your subtle feelings. With the increase of the living pace, we find that there is a lack of communication. Sometimes when you are speaking to someone that you care and love by phone, you’ll find it hard to express your feeling towards him/her. This moment, letters will help. Without any embarrassment, you can just write down your deep concern and love on the paper.

When you drop the letter into the mailbox, you’ll feel what he or she receives is not only a letter, but your deepest love. Second, letters can be kept as a record of memory, while phones cannot. Years later, when you open an old box of letters, many beautiful memories will come back to you. And I believe that you can never experience such feelings through several phone calls.

All in all,letter-writing will absolutely survive and even thrive in the Information Age. Phones can never kill it, neither will anything.

[Model 18] A Letter to Your Father

Outline:

1、对家人的日常问候。

2、由于课程需要打算买一台电脑,请求父亲借钱给你。

3、计划两年后还清借款。

Mar. 4, 2006 Dear Dad,

How are you and Mom? It has been a long time since I heard from you last time. Hope this letter find you and Mom are doing well.

This term I’m having some computer curses because I’m going to take the National Computer Test. As far as my future career is concerned, this certificate is as important as that of College English Examination Band 4. Therefore a computer is essential to my study. However, there is a problem that I can’t afford to buy one now. Would you mind lending me 4,000 yuan? I promise to return the money to you in two years.

I’ll go on doing some part-time jobs after class and in vacations. As you know, I’m good at photography and I was temporarily employed in a small advertisement company. I’ll try to hunt for such jobs again and I’m sure success will belong to me. Find faith in me, please.

Please remember me to Mom.

With love

Xiaolan
