Tea and coffee are the two most universal beverages in the world. People believe tea, especially green tea, has a lot of benefits for the heal th. It’s said that it has an effect to resist cancer and protect the heart. However, good clinical studies are quite few. Although physicians often tell patients to drink green tea, there hasn’t been any dependable proof of the value of that advice.

However, a team of Japanese researchers found drinking green tea can clearly decrease death rate. They followed 40,530 healthy adults aged 40 to 79 for up to 11 years in a region of northeastern Japan where most people drink green tea. They found the death rate of those who drank five or more cups of green tea a day is evidently lower than those who drank less than one cup a day, especially, in disease related with heart and blood vessels.

But no such association was seen with deaths from cancer, nor between oolong or black tea and any decrease in death rate. Those teas are easier to be combined with oxygen in processing, which not only darkens the color of the leaves and changes their flavor but also reduces their beneficial content.

Compared with tea, coffee is more controversial. It has received both gold stars and black marks. It, too, contains a matter that is good for health. Evidence for the health benefits of coffee is increasing, however. A group of researchers report that coffee seems to protect against age-related decline in mental ability. They studied 676 healthy men born from 1900 to 1920 and

followed them for 10 years, using scientific measures of brain function.

Their conclusion shows the men consuming coffee had clearly less decline in mental abili ty than those who didn’t. Three cups a day seemed to provide the most protection.

21.Physicians often tell patients to drink green tea because_______.

A.its medical values has been proved

B.it’s believed to be good for health

C.it has long been applied in clinic

D.its effect has been shown in animals

22.The Japanese study seems to have confirmed the positive effect of green tea on _______.

A. people with mental disabilities

B. patients with various cancers

B. people with physical disabilities D. patients with heart disease

23.The text indicates that black tea differs from green tea because _________.

A.it can keep the color of its leaves

B.it can reduce cancer-related deaths

C.it contains less effective content

D.it is stronger in flavor than the latter

24.Coffee is beneficial to one’s health because _______.

A.it slows down the rate of brain aging

B.it is more beneficial than green tea

C.it lowers the rate of natural death rate

D.it keeps system of the body active

As the rapid development of artificial intelligence(AI), there are growing concerns that robots could become a threat. This danger can be avoided, according to Stuart Russell, a computer science professor, if we figure out how to turn human values into a computer program.

Russell argues that as robots take on more complicated(复杂的) tasks, it’s necessary to have them act on human values. For example, if a robot does chores around the house, you wouldn’t want it to put the pet cat on the stove to make dinner for the hungry children. “To prevent the tragedy, you must have it progr ammed with a good set of values,” said Russell.

At present, some robots are already programmed with basic human values. For example, mobile robots have been programmed to keep a comfortable distance from humans. Obviously there are cultural differences, but if you were talking to another person and he came up close in your personal space, you wouldn’t think that’s the kind of thing a properly brought-up person would do.

It will be possible to create more human-friendly moral machines, if only we can find a way to set out human values as clear rules. This isn’t too difficult in technology if humans do resolve to have robots behave according to human moral criteria. After all robots have ability to learn values from drawing patterns from large sets of data on human behavior. They are dangerous only if programmers are careless.

The biggest concern with robots going against human values is that human beings fail to do enough testing and they’ve produced a system that will break some kind of taboo(禁忌). There fore, it’s necessary to have the robot go through a self-check program to make sure it will react by following human values when presented with an unusual situation.

25. What does Russell think about the threat of robots?

A. It is a big challenge to computer programmers.

B. It’ll push the development of high technology.

C. It can be avoided if robots act on human values.

D. It’ll be a must as technology gets more complicated.

26. What do you think of a person who gets into your personal space according to the author?

A. Aggressive.

B. Outgoing.

C. Friendly.

D. Bad-mannered.

27. Based on the passage, robots learn human values by _________.

A. communicating with humans in everyday life situations

B. following the daily routines of civilized human beings

C. picking up patterns from huge data on human behavior

D. copying the behavior of properly brought-up humans

28. How can we make sure that robots’ behavior isn’t affected by humans’ careless?

A. Put in a moral self-check program.

B. Stop to seek advice from a human being.

C. Keep a distance from possible dangers.

D. Do sufficient testing before taking action.

Som e of the world’s most important problems never hit headlines. One example comes from agriculture. Food shortage(短缺) and hunger make news. But no one has ever reported the trend of world grain production. This is the decline in the growth in production of some of the world’s major crops. A new study by the University of Minnesota and McGill University in Montreal looks at where, and how far, this decline is occurring.

The authors take a vast number of data for the four most important crops: rice, wheat, corn and soyabean(大豆). It shows that between 24% and 39% of all the farming areas which contributed grain production growth before 1980s witnessed a decline in grain production growth in the 1990s and 2000s.

There are two worrying points of the slowdown. One is that it has been particularly sharp in India and China, which have the largest population. They are able to feed themselves, which make the food markets relatively stable, both within the countries and on the world. However, their ability can not be taken for granted if their growth in production continues to slow down.

Second, production growth has been lower in wheat and rice than in corn and soyabean. This is because wheat and rice are pure food grains, compared with which, corn and soyabean are also commercial. Their rate of deep processing is much higher than rice and wheat and the prediction of a higher income drives more farmers to turn to corn and soyabean production.

The report also let out some optimistic findings which suggest that the world will not have to dig up a lot more land for farming in order to feed 9 billion people in 2050. This is in agreement with the argument of the Food and Agriculture Organization. Moreover, it says, thanks to the slowdown of population growth, land at present used for crops might be likely to be turned back to forest land.

33.The underlined word most probably means ________.

A. acceleration

B. slowdown

C. progress

D. prosperity

C. new headlines in the leading media

D. the food supply in populous countries

34.India and China are mentioned in particular just to show_______.

A.their food production decreases sharply in recent years

B.their self-feeding ability makes the food market stable

C.their big populations are causing worldwide concerns

D.their self-feeding ability has been taken for granted.

35.What makes corn and soyabean enjoy a higher growth than rice and wheat?

A.Food production isn’t as efficient as before the 1980s.

B.The food market isn’t as stable as two decades ago.

C.Some big countries no longer produce enough grain.

D.Farmers tend to grow what brings in a higher income.

In the early twenty century, farm workers left the country for big cities in order to get the higher salary. After World War II private cars begin to enter ordinary families. This made possible for people to move out of noisy cities to quieter suburbs, there they could enjoy more space. Today, most city workers live comfortably in suburbs. Text 10 (150)

Recently home classrooms are becoming popular with the students who live on distant farms in Australia. More and more of them no longer need to get up early in the morning and pack up their books to make for school. They choose to have their education at home.

Home classrooms have many advantages, and the most important point is that students no more have to waste hours on the road. They can use the time for other meaningful activities, like reading books at home. Another important advantage is connected with the quality of education. Home schooling encourages students to learn by themselves. It has been proved that students who learn by themselves are often more clever and have a better memory.

Most of all, home classrooms encourage students to ask questions on-line. They no longer need to worry that they will lose face in front of their classmates. So they are more willing to say that they don’t understand something. This will help them become more active learners.

2017年高考英语作文16类话题预测(含范文)

2017年高考英语作文16类话题预测(含范文) 教育部考试中心主任姜钢在《中国高等教育杂志》刊登的文章《坚持以立德树人为核心深化高考考试内容改革》透露,在命题工作中更加注重“四个加强”:加强社会主义核心价值观的考查;加强依法治国理念的考查;加强中国优秀传统文化的考查;加强创新能力的考查。业内人士认为,无论是发言者的身份,还是探 讨的话题,堪称权威重磅。 反观近年全国卷真题,2013年I卷的“中国画”、2013年II卷的“中国结”和2015年II卷的“重阳节”均考查了“中国优秀传统文化”这个话题;其中2015年II卷的“重阳节去敬老院”还考查“社会主义核心价值观(孝敬老人)”这个话题。 一、文体 1.稳。即文体基本局限于应用文中的书信体(含电子邮件)。 2.变。即可能会回避近年(特别是两三年内)考过的邀请信、求助信(请求信)、建议信、申请信、咨询信、约稿信。有可能倾向于近年未考过的祝贺信、感谢信、求职信等书信体;另外属于应用文的留言条也是生活中常用文体,也可能是考查 方向(2009年I卷考查过留言条)。 二、话题 1.很可能会突出“中国优秀传统文化”这个方向。例如中国的四大艺术“琴棋书画”、文房四宝、四大发明、四大名著、国粹京剧、唐诗宋词、古代建筑艺术、 文化遗址、中国武术、中医中药等等,与这些相关的话题均可能是命题的重要素材。 诚实”“ 守信”等。实际上,这 2.可能是体现“社会主义核心价值观”,如“爱国”“ 些也是中华优良的传统美德。 3.也可能是升学、留学、求职、招聘等方面相关的话题。 三、猜题 1.(祝贺信)假如你是李华,你的美国网友Peter参加中国象棋网络挑战赛获得了一等奖。请根据以下提示写一封英文电子邮件向他表示祝贺。 1)祝贺他获奖; 2)肯定他付出的努力;

B I first met Paul Newman in 1968, when George Roy Hill, the director of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, introduced us in New York City. When the studio didn’t want me for the film— it wanted somebody as well known as Paul — he stood up for me. I don’t know how many people would have done that; they would hav e listened to their agents or the studio powers. The friendship that grew out of the experience of making that film and The Sting four years later had its root in the fact that although there was an age difference, we both came from a tradition of theater and live TV. We were respectful of craft (技艺)and focused on digging into the characters we were going to play. Both of us had the qualities and virtues that are typical of American actors: humorous, aggressive, and making fun of each other— but always with an underlying affection. Those were also at the core(核心)of our relationship off the screen. We shared the bel ief that if you’re fortunate enough to have success, you should put something back—he with his Newman’s Own food and his Hole in the Wall camps fo r kids who are seriously ill, and me with Sundance and the institute and the festival. Paul and I didn’t see each other all that regularly, but sharing that brought us together. We supported each other financially and by showing up at events. I last saw him a few months ago. He’d been in and out of the hospital. He and I both knew what the deal was, and we didn’t talk about it. Ours was a relationship that didn’t need a lot of words. 24.Why was the studio unwilling to give the role to author at first? A. Paul Newman wanted it. B. The studio powers didn’t like his agent. C. He wasn’t famous enough. D. The director recommended someone else. 25.Why did Paul and the author have a lasting friendship? A. They were of the same age. B. They worked in the same theater. C. They were both good actors. D. They have similar characteristics. 26.What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 3 refer to? A. Their belief. B. Their care for children. C. Their success. D. Their support for each other. 27.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A. To show his love of films. B. To remember a friend. C. To introduce a new movie. D. To share his acting experience. C Terrafugia Inc. said Monday that its new flying car has completed its first flight, bringing the company closer to its goal of selling the flying car within the next year. The vehicle —named the Transition – has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car. The Transition, which flew at 1,400 feet for eight minutes last month, can reach around 70 miles per hour on the road and 115 in the air. It flies using a 23-gallon tank of gas and burns 5 gallons per hour in the air. On the ground, it gets 35 miles per gallon. Around 100 people have already put down a $10,000 deposit to get a Transition when they go on sale, and those numbers will likely rise after Terrafugia introduces the Transition to the public later this week at the New York Auto Show. But don’t expect it to show up in too many driveways. It’s expected to cost $279,000. And it won’t help if you’re stuck in traffic. The car needs a runway. Inventors have been trying to make flying cars since the 1930s, according to Robert Mann, an airline industry expert. But Mann thinks Terrafugia has come closer than anyone to making the flying car a reality. The government has already permitted the company to use special materials to make it easier for the vehicle to fly. The Transition is now going through crash tests to make sure it meets federal safety standards. Mann said Terraf ugia was helped by the Federal Aviation Administration’s decision five years ago to create a separate set of standards for light sport aircraft, which are lower than those for pilots of larger planes. Terrafugia says an owner would need to pass a test and complete 20 hours of flying time to be able to fly the Transition, a requirement
