When people hear the word stress，they usually think of something bad．However，stress can be benefit for the body and mind．

To begin with，people usually feel stressed when there is something important to do or when they worry about something．For example，some students are usually stressed before big test or important competitions．The stress might make them feel nervous，but it also makes them be very serious about something．This kind of stress can help people work better to achieve their plan or dreams.

Besides, stress helps us keep health．Scientists who study stress learnt a little stress can make the immune system（免疫系统）stronger．When your body learns to respond（反应）to some stress，it's able to protect you better from illness．

The last way that stress benefits us is by helping us respond to danger．If you see a car coming towards too fast，you might experience stress．This stress gives your brain a message to warn(警告）your of danger，allowing your body to respond quickly．You may not be able to jump out of the car's way soon enough without the stress．

Of course，too much stress is bad for the body and minds．But the right amount of stress really helps us in some ways.

Millions and millions of years ago, the world was very much warmer than it is now. There was never any winter or snow. Warm rain fell on the land. Even the sea was warm. In this warm world lived strange beasts called dinosaurs(恐龙). They were the kings of the world for a long time.
