1..Television Obviously, the press is an important means of communication and is still a popular form of communicating news. People read newspapers everywhere, in the office, at home, on the train, even in the toilet and so on. Nevertheless, the coming of TV gives a shock to the world. Suddenly, it changes many things in people's daily life. Nowadays TV is so popular that nearly every family has got a TV set in cities. People can watch and hear TV progams at the same time. TV programs are full of variety and viewers can enjoy news reports, plays, films, musical performances, sports, interviews with prominent people and many other items. So TV attracts many people from the cinema, the radio and newspapers. On the other hand, people can time and again hear criticism of TV programs. It has got too much violence and gunplay, which affects young people and even children. Watching too much TV will make people exhausted, lazy and stupid, and also waste a lot of valuable time. 2. My Best Friend- As I am now eighteen years of age,I have a great many friends. But one of them I like much better than any other.his name is ken. I became acquainted with him when I began to go to school. Since then he and I have been living together for ten years. He is a man of a sweet and soft temper, but looks grave and solemn. He sometimes appears very old and sometimes very young and bright, but he is always clever, active, and alert. He is liked by all who know him. He is a learned man. He knows everything and studies nearly all the languages spoken by mankind. Moreover, his memory is extremely remarkable. He is a patient man. Stupid as I am, he is never tired of teaching me. He continues to teach me until I am perfectly familiar with my lessons. 3. Students Doing Part-time Work More and more students are doing part-time work today. Students working part time usually have a positive attitude towards this extracurricular experience.Besides earning some money to support themselves,they can learn a lot which cannot be learned from textbooks. They will learn to get along with different kinds of people,get useful working experiences and learn the value of labor. However, there are also some disadvantages in students doing part-time work. For example, too much work may cut into student's study time when they should get the best out of their college llfe and lay a good foundation of knowledge for their college life and lay a good foundation of knowledge for their future work. Good or bad, it is not easy for students to get part-tithe jobs in China now. Even if they do get some work, they are often badly paid. Life in the City and in the Country I have lived in this city for two years, but before that I lived with my family in a village. life is very different in the two places, but there are things that I like about living in country(or city ). In the country it is quiet and beautiful since there are not many people. The air is clean, and there is beautiful scenery all around. The people who live in the country seem friendly and helpful to their neighbors. The cost of living is low there, because food is usually cheap. In the city there are interesting things to do all the time. People have a big choice of activities. There is a wide selection of movies, and most of the theatres are good. Everything is convenient here, since in the city you live close to grocery stores① and schools. Traffic is efficient② with regular schedules③, so it is easy to get from one place to another. 5.learning online One side effect of online learning is that people get lazy and just copy work and don't learn anything. However if people research information properly and are keen to learn then the wealth of information on the internet becomes very valuable. A teacher may be better to ask questions and get immediate responses and explain parts you don't understand, however maybe you are afraid to ask the teacher questions or you are in a big class and the teacher doesn't have enough time, on the internet you can be anonymous and ask any question you like without being embarrassed... you can make friends which have the same favourite as you and talk about your favourite. This is a good way to learn. 6 positive and nagative impacts of internet The Internet seems to have become an indispensable part in modern lire. This is because the Internet has a lor of advantages. First, I can best use my time to find information online instead of going to different libraries. Also, the information can be dated back in decades ago. It is very helpful to use those information as reference and historical proof. Another advantage to use Internet is that I can stay home and have a lecture online. It is much more convenience to me because I can stay warm to have class in the winter time instead of spending two hours on the bus and physically attend class. However, there are also disadvantage of using Internet. For example, I might spend too much time on the Internet to concentrate on my study. Also, there is a chance that I am cheated because of the Internet purchasing. Last, Internet has lots of information, both helpful and harmful. Whether computer is a blessing or a curse, depends on different circumstance and the way you use it. 7 My Dream Everyone has a dream. Now I want to say something about my dream. What is my dream? I often ask myself. In my mind, My dream is to become a successful engineer helping those poor people and saving their lives. Of course, to be a good engineer is very difficult, but I will do whatever I can do .That's my dream. I want to try my best to help the homeless people of our country. I want to let them have an opportunity to receive excellent treatments for their house without having to pay much or just enjoy them free. China is a developing country which needs good bulidings and good engineers, especially in the countryside and distant villages. Now everything I do is close to my dream. I feel life is fill with hope and is colorful, and I have enough confidence to realize my dream. I know that fantasy is something hard to realize, but dream can. I’ll work hard for my dreams, I’ll never give up. 8 Do you like Guang Zhou? Guangzhou is a beautiful city in China, but it’s so noisy and crowded. The population of Guangzhou is about seven million two hundred thousand. Guangzhou is a good place to visit. In Guangzhou there are many beautiful parks, museums, temples, etc. So many people like going to visit Guangzhou.
