摘要:本文采用建构的广义概念,框定在中国二十世纪早期社会语境下,探讨了赵元任先生如何在《阿丽丝漫游奇境记》重新协调叙事特征,在目标语境中建构叙事,说明了翻译在一定社会语境下进行以及该译作对当时社会的影响。
关键词:建构框定《阿丽丝漫游奇境记》文学翻译“建构”——Goffman 认为是参与者在交互的过程中,逐渐意识到自己正在参与的活动的性质,以及讲话者如何表情达意时,发表言论、采取实际行动的一个积极过程”(1974: 345)。
建构可以通过框定,框架这两个概念来理解,参与者对自己正在参与的活动的性质,以及讲话者如何表情达意的意识的形成就是框定(Tannen & Wallat 1993: 60),而框架被定义为期待视野,是为了从某种视角呈现一个运动或者一种立场而有意识地采取的战略性步骤。

郑振铎在《中国儿童读物的分析》中提到“中国旧式的教育,简直是一种罪孽深重的玩意儿,除了维持传统的权威和伦理观念外,别无其他的目的和利用。
”所以在这个时期翻译的文学作品中有不少儿童读物,它们大都具有启发教育意义。
学者们希望通过翻译国外儿童文学作品,启发儿童的心智,改变中国旧式儿童教育。
儿童文学译作的要求主要是以儿童阅读为目的,能让儿童有兴趣了解和接触外来文化,开拓视野,树立远大理想目标,发奋图强,复兴中华。
一、时空建构时空建构即选择一个文本,将其置于另一个时空语境中,尽管可能与这个文本原来所处的时空语境迥异,新的语境将使该文本的叙事更加凸显,并引导读者将它和现实生活中的叙事联系起来。
在赵译《阿丽丝漫游奇境记》中采用白话文来再现原文,而摒弃文言文,将译文脱离旧式文化的模式,放置于一种新文化的高度,采用新语体的大胆尝试,突出了作者顺应时代潮流,促进了中国语言的近代化。
在上世纪二十年的中国,有不少外国儿童读物被译成了文言文。
周作人就曾强烈批评陈家麟、陈大镫的译作《十之九》,称他们“把小儿的语言,变成了大家的古文”,“不禁代为著作者叫屈”。

(Mons Baker 2011: 172)有些译者采用古文来再现国外儿童文学作品,是对旧式传统方式的支持和维护,而对于当时社会改革发展的需要来说,白话文贴近口语,通俗易懂,是青少年儿童接受新知识,新思想的良好媒介。
他自身认为“这书要是不用语文体,很难翻译到‘得神’,所以这个译本可以做一个评判语体文成败的材料”。
(1988: 10) 这一点说明赵元任不仅考虑到当时社会的时代潮流趋势,而且考虑到读者应该是儿童,更加关注译作本身的呈现效果和易于儿童阅读接受能力。
二、文本素材的选择性采用文本素材的选择性采用即为了抑制、强调或者铺陈原文中隐含的叙事或者更高一个层面的叙事的某些方面,通过省略和添加的方式来得以实现。
例如, 1.原文:“I know that!”Alice cried eagerly. “You take some flour—”“Where
do you pick the flower?” the White Queen asked. “In a garden or in the hedges?”译文:阿丽丝很快的说,“那我知道!你先得拿点儿面—”那白皇后说,“挂面还是切面?宽条儿的还是细条儿的?”原文中“flour”, “flower”借助谐音开玩笑,本义是“你在哪采的花,花园里还是树篱下?”而译文译为“挂面还是切面?宽条儿的还是细条儿的?”明显地可以看出“白皇后”的回答的内容被省略掉了。
如果按照原文的意思译的话,从“面”一下子跳到“花”,这不仅让读者感觉上下文意义的不连贯,而且让人难以理解。
通过直接省略改译的方式,不仅使上下文连贯而且形象生动,易于读者接受和欣赏外来新的文化。
另外一个例子是作者为了保持原文的风格和韵味,使读者更能感受到外来文化的吸引力和趣味性,对译文内容上进行了添加,例子如下, 2.原文:We called him Tortoise because he taught us.译文:我们管着老甲鱼叫老忘,因为他老忘记了教我们的功课。
原文中并没有“老忘记教我们功课”的意思,但是通过添加这一个说法把“老忘记教我们功课”和“老忘”紧密联系起来,把原文的同音异意的“Tortoise” 和“taught us” 押韵词的韵味在汉语中也充分表现出来,强调了作者充分以表现原文的谐音效果。
三、标示式建构标示式指被定义为使用词汇、用语或者短语来识别人物、地点、群体、事件以及叙事中的其他关键元素,所有这样的话语过程都叫标示。
在这边赵译书中,首先,动物名称的翻译如“Bill”, “Dormouse”, “Gryphone”, “MarchHare” 分别译成“毕二爷”,“惰儿鼠”,“骨来凤”,“三月兔”在翻译这些动物名称时,不仅让儿童能清楚地知道是什么动物,还结合动物的特征更加突出动物的可爱之处,激发儿童对动物的兴趣。
而且这些名称是口语用语,读起来朗朗上口,充分调动儿童的积极性和好奇心。
其次,拟声词如楼梯上的脚步“pattering”形容为“的达的达”;盘子碰碎了“crash”译为“刮喇喇一声”鸽子飞翔声“hiss”译为“嗖嗖的声音”等等将各种状态,动作行为与声音形象生动地结合起来,把故事描绘得有声有色。
再者,文中很多重叠词的出现,例如,“咕咕叨叨地说话玩”、“正正经经地一口一口地把蛋糕吃完了”、“白兔子穿得讲讲究究的”、“抱怨自己被人差来差去的”等等,符合儿童的行为处事的节奏和倾向于重复的口语表达习惯,更适合儿童阅读。
