(not hide our heads in the sand)工会为减少失业所做的努力必将失败,人们只有会用电脑才有幸不致失业,毕竟,各行业都需要有会编写电脑程序的人。

从 slow down (缓慢下来)可以推测 accelerate意为“加速”,与C项中speed up相近。

?24.D 本题的落点在第二段的最后三句,注意以下词语 largely replaced 而不是 completely replaced, most learning 而不是 all learning, still goto school 以及 make friends and devolop social skills.?25.A 本题的落点在第三段的第四句。

rush the goose over to his parents, who kept coming back to our yard.He wouldn’t go to them, though, and they wouldn’t come close enough to claim him.The young goose had clearly decided we were his new family, and my twin sister Joanna called the little guy Peeper.Almost a year passed and we settled into a routine filled with feathery hugs and company. One evening,my uncle came over, and my dad threw offered?A.Expectant.B.Doubtful.C.Objective.D.Conservative.11.In which section of a magazine might the text appear?A.Business.B.Lifestyle.C.Culture.D.Politics.DOn paper,hydrogen(H2) looks like a dream fuel.Whilecoal, oil, and natural gas produce carbon dios the earth when burned, hydrogen produces pure water.Hydrogen packs more energy into less space than a battery (but certainly less than petrol). Also, empty tanks(箱) can be refilled with hydrogen much faster than refilling empty batteries with electricity. While in practice, things are trickier.Storing a meaningful amount of hydrogen gas requires pressing it severalhundred-fold.Changing it into the liquid form is another option, but it should be cooled to -253℃.Both processes require a heavy andstrong tank. While a 700 bar tank is acceptable for a city bus or a truck, adapting it for use in small vehicles is very difficult because the pressure during refilling would be too great. The solution?Powerpaste.A German team of researchers, led by Marcus Vogt, have come up with an interesting “powerpaste”,which can store hydrogen energy at atmospheric pressure, ready for release when needed. It is so named because it comes in tubes and looks like toothpaste(牙膏),not in its traditional form of gas.The main ingredient(原料) of the paste is magnesium hydride,a substance that reacts with water to form hydrogen. The escaped hydrogen can then be directed into a fuel cell, where it reacts with o the air to produce electric power.Refueling is very simple,as instead of going to a filling station, drivers and riders can simply replace an empty tube with a new one and refill the water tank.Given that powerpaste only begins to break down at temperatures of around 250℃ it remains safe even when a vehicle stands in the baking sun for hours. However,we will have to be patient. The fact that researchers have succeeded in developing a new fueling way does not mean that we can expect to see such vehicles on the road anytime soon.It will indeed be several years before this concept is turned into reality.12.As a fuel, what is the advantage of hydrogen over oil?A.Refilling empty tanks will be more convenient.B.It is less likely to worsen global warming.C.More energy can be packed in the same space.D.It will produce pure water for people to drink.13.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?A.The practical difficulties to use hydrogen as a fuel in small vehicles.B.The detailed processes of adapting a strong tank in small vehicles.C.The differences in fueling between large vehicles and small ones.D.The tricks of building strong tanks in small vehicles.14.The author mentions the refueling process to show that powerpaste is .A.inexpensiveB.powerfulC.convenientD.environment-friendly15.Why does the author call on the readers to be patient?A.Powerpaste-driven vehicles sometimes move very slowly on the road.B.Practical use of powerpaste-driven vehicles will not come very soon.C.Powerpaste-driven vehicles can only work after being in the sun for hoursD.It will be years before the researchers work out the concept of powerpaste.Ⅱ. When you imagine the “road to success”,what sort of picture do you see in your

Reading on screens tires eyes easily. So online writing is more skimmable than print. The neuroscientist Mary Walt argued this “new norm” of skim reading is producing “an invisible, dramatic transformation” in how readers process words. And brains now favor rapid absorption of information, rather than skills developed by deeper reading, like critical analysis. We shouldn’t overplay this danger. All readers skim. Skimming is the skill we acquire as we learn to read more skillfully. And fears about declining attention spans have proved to be false alarms. “Some critics worry about attention span and see very short stories as signs of cultural decline, ” The American author Selvin wrote. “But nobody ever said poems were evidence of short attention spans. ”Yet the Internet has certainly changed the way we read. First, it means there’s more to read, because more people than ever are writing. And digital writing means rapid release and response. Once published, online articles start forming a comment string underneath. Such mode of writing and reading can be interactive and fun, but is probably lacking in profound reflection.Perhaps we should slow down. Reading is constantly promoted as a source of personal achievement. But this advocacy emphasizes “enthusiastic” or “eager” reading — neither suggest slow absorption. To a slow reader, a piece of writing can only be fully understood by immersing oneself in their slow comprehension of words. The slow reader is like a swimmer who stops counting the number of pool laps he’s done and just enjoys how his body feels and moves in water. The human need for this kind of deep reading is too determined for any new technology to destroy. We often assume technological change can’t be stopped, so older media are kicked out by newer, more virtual forms. In practice, older technologies can coexist with new ones. The Kindle hasn’t killed off printed books any more than cars killed off bicycles. We still want to enjoy slowly-formed ideas and carefully-chosen words. Even in a fast-moving age, there is time for slow reading.1.What is the author’s attitude towards Selvin’s opinion?A.Favorable.B.Critical.C.Doubtful.D.Objective.2.Which statement would the author probably agree with?A.Advocacy of passionate reading helps promote slow reading.B.Digital writing and reading tends to ignore careful reflection.C.We should be aware of the impact skimming has on the brain.D.The number of Internet readers declines due to technology.3.Why is “swimmer” mentioned in paragraph 4?A.To demonstrate how to immerse oneself in thought.B.To stress swimming differs from reading.C.To show slow reading is better than fast reading.D.To illustrate what slow reading is like.4.Which would be the best title for the passage?A.Slow Reading is Here to StayB.Technology Prevents Slow ReadingC.Reflections on Deep ReadingD.The Wonder of Deep Reading【答案】1.A 2.B 3.D 4.A【导语】这是一篇议论文。
