Let the classics be classics
As is known to all,classics refer to those which are well-realized,considered to be of a high standard and have stood the test of time.Most things will fade with the time going by,but for the classics.Nonetheless,the epoch is changing so rapidly and the society has made tremendous progress.So whether we should look forward to the future positively and explore the unknown bravely or not?I would like to give my views,as follows.
On the one hand,due to the significance and necessity of the classics,deserting them entirely does no good for us.The classics can greatly tell us the experience of the formers and introduce us to understand the lives in a better way.What else,some will help us know cultural background of the dynasties,for instance the Dream of Red Mansions.To put it another way,what we can do is to treasure them and pick up the useful elements for us as much as possible.But all the above does not mean that we can pursue it with a blind eye.That is to say,that relying on it completely instead of paying attention to the reality should be abandoned.
On the other hand,there must be some things out-dated in classics that cannot accommodate the new times.For example,the discrimination in favor of sons in The Analects,the foolish filial piety for parents in SiShu and the harsh requirements for women who ought to obey their husbands completely,etc. All those indicates that some dross in classics have prevented us from developing continuously so deserting it will be of wisdom.If we go on sinking in it,we might leave behind the times.
To sum up,for the classics,we should treat them properly and neutrally.It is believed that every coin has two sides,apart from the classics.Thus,as good-educated college students,we can manage to absorb the effective parts to a great extent while giving up the side effects,which is wiser for us.。
