留学香港

寒假回家做Information SharingSession，平时也在跟家长和学弟学妹讲香港的优势和这边大学的优越，觉得自己都快成了科大和香港的representative了。

冷静下来考虑一下，其实一个人想来香港要考虑的问题很多，并不是每个人都像我一样，很多人可能是不太适合来这里的。

所以就把自己前前后后的想法在这里写出来。

关于到香港上大学的思考谨以此文献给考虑或想要来香港读书的还在备战高考的莘莘学子们近些年来，香港的大学成了中国社会的焦点话题。

一批批学子纷纷放弃北大、清华、中科大等在国内响当当的名校到香港来上大学。

高额的学费和生活费虽然让很多家庭望而却步，但是还是有更多的父母愿意为孩子出几十万到香港读书。

香港高校真正“火”起来应该是在2006年。

由于2005年香港的大学找到了一些状元，便引起了很多学生和家长甚至社会的关注。

香港的大学趁热打铁，在内地举行发布会、开放日、记者问答会，进行招生的宣传。

所以06年报考香港的学生无论从数量还是质量上都是空前的。

是什么吸引成千上万的优秀学生到香港呢？原因其实很多，除了我们常说的国际化背景、英语教学、奖学金等原因，其实自由申请与高考不冲突也是很重要的原因。

很多家长怕自己的孩子高考失利，为了增加保险系数就为孩子报上多所香港的大学。

所以很多人并不是真正有实力去靠香港，或者真正想去香港的。

我们再看看都什么样的同学来香港读书。

北京是我们的首都，也是中国的文化中心，全国20多个省市自治区的学生十几年寒窗苦读做梦都想到北京的北大和清华读书，相对而言，北京的很多同学和家长对于清华、北大的渴望则没有那么强烈，而他们愿意把眼光伸得更远，香港则是他们的选择之一。

同时，北京的家庭普遍收入比较高，相当比例的家庭都可以承担孩子在香港上学的费用，所以香港的大学中，北京的同学占有相当高的比例。

其次就是广东和上海，广东又以深圳占主要地位，我想这些不用过多解释，是显而易见的。

来了科大两个学期了，对这边的生活已经很适应了，很喜欢科大的体制与香港的氛围。

在这里，平时是很紧张的，远没有很多人想象的“内地学生到香港去享受生活”那么简单。

有大量的presentation, reports, projects,camps, workshops, seminars, homeworks,assignments，几乎停不下来的，当然只要有假放（比如复活节），大家就会三五成群的搭伴出去玩个痛快。

香港可以玩的地方真的是很多，来香港后“堕落”的人也有，不过很少，至少在科大这样压力很大的大学里貌似还没发现谁经常逃课出去玩。

刚才我虽然说这里很忙很累，但是跟内地大学肯定是两码事，我们留的文字作业并不多，而更多的是动手、动嘴、动脑的东西，比如第一个学期大部分同学都被一种叫“presentation”（不知道怎么翻译，大概就是“讲说、展示”的意思）的东西折磨得很惨，而当我们掌握了他之后才知道这些东西才是我们今后真正能用到的东西。

还有workshop、seminar，以及我们不同课程要求组建的buddygroup等等，都很锻炼人的沟通、合作、领导与协调的能力，让我们成为真正的人才，而不是单纯啃书本的“好学生”。

所以，在来香港之前首先要知道自己想要的是什么。

比如你想要的是国际化背景，那你就要真正去利用它，多参加一些国际组织，与国外大学或者相关机构建立起联系；如果你想要的是这里的多元文化氛围，那你来了这里就不要天天泡图书馆，而要多去和国际学生和本地学生交流等等。

关于香港的种种长处和优势我自己都觉得说烦了，而且媒体与论坛上也有各种各样翔实的描述。

在这里，我想说一下你在香港有些是在内地得不到的，或者你要面临很大挑战的东西。

首先，有一点我要特别指出，客观的说，我不觉得香港这个地方适合理论学习。

不是说条件和资源不充分，而是整体氛围不是学理论所需要的。

除非你心很静，不受任何干扰自己埋头苦读，当然这样的人在哪里都可以学好理论。

所以打算将来搞纯理论研究的同学，我不建议你们来香港，推荐去清华、中科大、北大和南大；如果你只是对某一个理学学科感兴趣，而不打算日后高学术研究，香港还是很不错的选择。

其次，想学工程学方面的同学，首先要知道香港不是工业城市，是金融中心。

所以除了物流方面在香港有较大的需求之外，大部分工科专业所对应的就业职位并不是非常多。

比如世界的大公司的很多技术研发等核心工程都不会设在香港，所以如果毕业留港的话，工科方面不会有特别优越的职位，而且薪水一般也要比商、法、医科的要低。

当然，是否优越和薪水的高低都是相对的，每个人的申请结果都不一样，而且在香港毕业很容易找到海外职位，所以对于能力较强的学生，这一点不是问题，不过对于综合能力相对弱一些的同学就要多加考虑了。

第三，单独提一下想学生化的同学。

你们在这里正式上大学的第一年里可能会非常痛苦，因为我就有切身体会。

我这学期选修了一门生化的通识教育课，里面的单词就快折磨死我了。

我的英语和单词量在同届还算是不错的，可是一想在中文说起来很简单的东西到英文中就极为复杂，而且我有个多伦多大学的同学主修生物，他说外国人不学也都不会那些词，而且他们记起来也十分痛苦。

所以我在这里为biochemstry 的同学提个醒（希望香港各大学生化系负责招生的教授们不要骂我）。

第四，主要写给性格内向的同学。

在香港，本地生是非常能玩的，花样繁多，而且玩得很专业。

整个香港的大氛围就是开放充满活力的国际化大都市，如果你性格内向在这里会觉得很不舒服的。

可能你会说，正因为性格内向，所以需要香港把我变得外向一些。

也许你是对的，但至少我不这么想。

第五，写给非广东省的同学，确切的说是不会说广东话的同学。

在香港，你不会说广东话肯定有法活，英语和普通话会一样就可以正常交流，但是我要说的是，如果你不会广东话，你就不可能融入到本地的文化生活中去。

在香港，金发碧眼的国际学生很多，但是他们都是自己聚在一起玩，因为他们不可能真正融入香港人的圈子。

同样，大陆的学生总是跟大陆的学生在一起，因为不会说广东话，和本地生融不到一起去。

有些同学在香港呆了三四年，还是只认识那么几个内地的同学，我想这样就失去了来香港的意义。

当然有些人的确不在乎，那就无所谓了。

第六，这里没有北大清华的那么多历史、文化的积淀，也没有那么多中国的元素。

100多年的殖民统治使香港是一个完全多元化的城市，虽然政府和社会很重视中国文化历史的传承和保护，但是一个社会所能容纳的非物质财富是有限的，所以你会失去一些东西。

正因为你得到了其它的东西，所以自然要失去一些原本可以得到的东西。

其实还有很多细小的东西，不过都不是很重要。
