根际简介根际(Rhizosphere)是指受植物根系生长影响,在物理、化学和生物特性上不同于原土体的土壤微域,是植物-土壤-微生物三者相互作用的场所,也是各种养分、水分和有益或有害物质进入根系参与食物链物质循环的门户,是一个特殊的生态系统。
根际的变化是一个动态过程,它不仅存在于垂直根面指向原土体的横向方向上,而且也存在于沿根轴的纵向方向上,并且根际过程在这两个方向上存在着时空变异。
Rhizosphere一词最先由德国科学家Lorenz Hiltner在1904年提出, 用以描述受豆科植物根系影响的土壤微域,在这个微域内微生物的数量远远高于土体(Hiltner,1904 )。
通过电子显微镜观察证实,作物根与土壤之间有一粘液层,它是由新生根的根冠、根毛、表皮细胞分泌的粘液、根际微生物分泌物、脱落细胞的降解产物等组成的。
此粘液层的厚度可达10-50微米,粘液层的外沿最先吸附土壤中的粘粒,以后再伸展到土壤孔隙中与土壤相混合。
粘液与土壤混合层可以扩展到离根表1-4毫米。
粘液层具有亲水性,土壤中的可溶性养分可以溶解于内而被根系吸收。
粘液层中含有大量有机物质,是微生物繁殖生存的天然培养介质。
根际是受活的根系影响的土壤微域,根际范围的大小受土壤类型、植物种类、年龄和其它因子的影响(Curl and Truelove,1986)。
一般认为,根际的范围可达几毫米,对于某些沙漠植物或沙丘植物甚至可达几个厘米。
由于根系的不断生长,根表特性沿根轴方向差异较大,在根的一生中,根际的特性处于不断变化之中。
此外,一些微生物如细菌和真菌可侵入到根的皮层组织,在正常生长的根系中,表皮或皮层的细胞由于各种原因可能遭到损伤、脱落而死亡,因此根际也被定义为沿根轴垂直方向从根的内皮层向外一直延伸到土壤,由微生物构成的连续体(Old and Nicholson,1978)。
根际通常被划分为外根际和内根际两部分,外根际通常指土壤微域,内根际通常指根面以及受微生物侵染的根的表皮和皮层区域。
