第五章世界各国的工业设计第二节世界各国工业设计的形成与现状四、英国的工业设计作为产业革命发源地和设计运动发源地的英国,自莫里斯工艺美术运动之后却转入低潮,还停留在满足于手工产品的阶段,这也许是“工艺美术运动”的反作用。

直到1920年前后,在英国政府的组织与支持下,先后成立了“英国工业美术学会”(British Instmlte of Industrial Art)和“设计与工业协会"(The Design and Industrial Association),促进了英国工业设计的形成和发展。

1930~1940年期间,英国政府又制定了鼓励设计的设计政策,使英国在工业产品设计和伦敦交通设施设计方面都取得了很大进步,并在一系列国际性展览会上引起了各国的重视.到了1944年,英国政府为了增加外贸产品在国际上的竞争性.又成立了“英国工业设计委员会"(The Council of industrial Design),主持全国工业设计推进工作。
