英语后进生是一个特殊群体，具体表现为性格孤僻、自卑甚至无所谓，以致不愿表达自己的意见，不懂装懂，日积月累，他们对英语学习以渐渐失去兴趣，因为他们无法体会到成功的喜悦。
怎样改变后进生这种怕学、厌学的状况呢？措施如下：一、师帮生，教师在后进生转化工作中起者“导”和“演”的双重作用。

总之，教师不但不能放弃差生，更不能排斥差生，而且应该更多地关心他们，了解他们，研究他们，找准他们差的原因，给他们更多地帮助和鼓励，耐心地给他们学习方法的指导，而不能让差生无所适从，差上加差。

具体转化计划如下：一、定期与学生进行口语、听力、阅读等方面的练习与讨论，提高其英语运用能力。

后进生的智力因素体现在感知笼统，思维缓慢，他们对所学内容的理解、应用等能力较差，因而学生往往出现“英语太难了，我是学不好的。

因此，我根据后进生的特征进行转化，因势利导，做到因材施教。
后进生非智力因素体现在学习上没有兴趣，上课好动、注意力不易集中、不求甚解，解决困难问题意志薄弱，没有养成良好的学习习惯等。
他们并不是“朽木不可雕”的差生。
他们的差主要是行为、习惯、态度等方面的缺陷。

这将满足他们受尊重的心理需求，让他们也能享受成功的快乐，找回自信和自尊，激起他们克服困难的信心和勇气，力争上游。
三、多宽容学困生，允许他们有失误、有反复。
学习本身就是一件比较困难的事情，学困生由于基础差、能力弱等原因，学习好就更不容易。
好的学生也会有错，那么学困生多犯些错是天经地义的，没什么大不了，如果他们不犯错，那他们就不是学困生。
四、同班主任认真做好差生的思想工作，注意因材施教，摸准学生的性格特点，然后对症下药，以鼓励为主，增强其自信，消除自卑，使师生感情进一步融洽。
常言道：“冰冻三尺非一日之寒”。
