Hospitality has always been the tradition of the Chinese people, even if the family is poor and not well off, they will not neglect their guests, regardless of the meals, drinks, are very rich. In the United States, a business person who is invited for dinner to the private home of a business contact is expected to write a thank-you note shortly after the event. The Chinese tend not to write thank-you notes. Germans hardly ever write thank-you notes. They say “thank you ”at the end of a visit.
Embracing
Whereas embracing is considered inappropriate as a form of greeting in the United States and China, in other countries it is common among women and men alike, and man may follow it with a friendly slap on the back.

Invitations
In Americans it is polite to respond to invitation with either “yes” or“no”. A “yes”answer require you to attend unless you call to cancel. You can always decline an invitation from you hosts; it is polite to say “no”. If you find you must cancel a meeting or social engagement, inform your host as early as possible. It is considered impolite to accept an invitation and not go. Beside, you are advised to bring a gift to show “thank you” when you are invited to dinner in the United States.
