The effects of narrative changes
At the beginning of the novel, the relationship between the narrator and the readers are close. “ I ” lead the readers to enter the story and open a whole new world. Soon after the story spreads, the author rapidly switches the direction ,leaves the reader and puts the characters to the front desk. Simon tells the following story . At the end of the story, the original narrator picks up the pieces and once again close to the readers. The relationship between them is close—— estrangement——close. This strategy gives the readers great freedom to develop their own judgments and perspectives without the author‟s subjective tendency influence.

网络常见用语上岸作文英语Title: Common Internet Slang in English Writing。
In today's digital age, internet slang has become a prevalent aspect of online communication. From social media platforms to instant messaging apps, people often use various internet slang terms to convey messages more efficiently and expressively. However, when it comes to formal writing, such as essays or articles, using internet slang may not always be appropriate. In this essay, we will explore the common internet slang terms and discuss the importance of avoiding them in formal English writing.Firstly, let's delve into some of the most commonly used internet slang terms:1. LOL This acronym stands for "laugh out loud" and is used to indicate laughter or amusement. It is often employed in response to something funny or humorous.2. BRB Short for "be right back," BRB is used to inform someone that you will temporarily leave the conversation or activity but will return shortly.3. IMO/IMHO These abbreviations stand for "in my opinion" and "in my humble opinion," respectively. They are often used to preface personal viewpoints or judgments.4. BTW Short for "by the way," BTW is used to introduce additional information or a side note into a conversation.5. SMH An abbreviation for "shaking my head," SMH is used to express disbelief, disappointment, or disapprovalin response to something absurd or foolish.6. TFW Short for "that feeling when," TFW is used to describe relatable emotions or situations, often accompanied by a humorous or exaggerated statement.7. TL;DR This abbreviation stands for "too long; didn't read" and is used to summarize lengthy content or to indicate that the speaker did not read the entire text. While these internet slang terms are widely used in informal online communication, they should be avoided in formal writing for several reasons.First and foremost, internet slang can undermine the professionalism and credibility of your writing. When communicating in a formal context, such as academic essays, business reports, or professional emails, it is essential to maintain a level of professionalism and clarity. Using slang terms can make your writing appear casual or unprofessional, which may not be suitable for the intended audience.Additionally, internet slang can be ambiguous and open to interpretation. Unlike standard English, which follows established grammar and syntax rules, internet slang often relies on context and familiarity with online culture. As a result, using slang terms in formal writing can confuse or alienate readers who are not familiar with their meanings.Furthermore, relying on internet slang can hinder yourdevelopment of effective communication skills. In formal writing, it is essential to articulate your thoughts clearly and precisely. By relying on shorthand or abbreviated expressions, you may miss out on opportunities to develop your vocabulary and refine your writing style. In conclusion, while internet slang has become a ubiquitous aspect of online communication, it is important to recognize its limitations in formal English writing. By avoiding internet slang and adhering to the conventions of standard English, you can effectively convey your message with professionalism and clarity. So the next time you sit down to write an essay or compose an email, remember to leave the internet slang at the door and let your words speak for themselves.。

IntroductionI n d a i l y l i f e , w e u s u a l l y u s e n o r m a l E n g l i s h t ocommunicate with each other. A fact is that native speakersalso use some slangs talking. For example, “crash” means 100% falling asleep without waking up or showing to the party without permission or invitation. “Going Dutch” means tocheck out separately. “Down to earth” means to be practical and be real and so on.The purpose of this paper is to paraphrase the most commonly used slang — hang out to find its full usages.Hang out means to stay in or near a place, for no particular reason, not doing very much. Just as in New College English Integrated Course Unit 2 All the Cabbie Had Was a Letter byFoster Furcolo “Did you two work at the same place?”“No, but we hung out on the same corner when we are single….”Hang out here means they stay together doing nothing, just .enjoy the time being together. When we say to a friend “Do you want to hang out? ”it means you want be with friends to spend time in a social manner. As a slang hang out is not only an action people will do, itcan also be used to modify the degree of relationship between persons. For instance, “she is just a person I will say hi, not a person I will hang out with.” Or “Ally is my good friend,we always hang out together.” hang out shows a kind closerelationship.MorphologyThis term consists of two morphemes — hang and out.Hang functions as a root and an action, meaning to have a causal social manner, is a verb. Out functions as an inflectionalaffixes which modify the action “hang”, is an adverb.Hang out together is a verb phrase, usually used in the following pattern:hang out + prepositionshang out with somebodyExample: I will hang out with Amy tomorrow.hang out in someplaceExample: Jack and Rose hang out in the basement. However, hang out does not take any derivational affixes. For instance, hang out can’t be added up the derivational affixes to create a new noun such as –er,* hang outer. You couldn’t say * Jack is a hang outer. Or you can’t create adjectives by attaching -able;* hang outable. * Rose is hang outable girl. There are possible for hang out to turns to acronym, for example, sometimes friends text each other: Do u want to HO?SyntaxAs mentioned previously, hang out is a verb phrase. It is most often used with two other prepositions “with” and “in”.Example: Rose hangs out with Jack. The preposition phrase (PP) leads the complement for theverb phrase (VP) to indicate the person to complete the action with the main person. Furthermore, hang out also can be used in intransitive way. For example, “let’s hang out.” Hang outcan occur without object or complements.Semantics/ PragmaticsAs mentioned above, hang out means casually spendtime with people. So both foreign language learners and native speakers like to use this slang. Hang out is more likely to appear in the context of conversations, text content and social media information. Besides the above examples, peoplesometimes post their personal photos and leave one sentence, “Want to hang out?” to show they have time now.SociolinguisticsNowadays, with the development of technology, socialmedia is wild used. The speed of people’s life is much faster than before. It is common to know people and make friends online without meeting. Hang out is form for people to communicate and keep the relationship. Even though sometimes we prefer to E-mail or text, it is still necessary for usto meet and talk in person, in other words, the people who we2018年05期总第393期语言文化研究ENGLISH ON CAMPUSA Comparative Analysis of Chinese and American Automobile Advertising Culture文/王丽【摘要】随着经济的全球化发展,中美广告界的交流日益频繁,中美汽车广告也呈现出多样的风格。

1. SimilaritiesThe ultimate ideal of Chinese philosophy is pursuing a realm of harmonious coexistence of human and nature. This concept in Chinese auto advertising also performed very obviously. For example, in the Buick Regal“动静合一篇”, the picture is a car passing through the vast grasslands, and it over mountains, he follows joyous run in the forest, and then on the open road. The voice-over is: “心致,行随,动静合一,别克君威”. The entire advertisement has no more description of vehicle’s performance, but the vehicle is positioned at the nature of harmonious beauty, and Chinese natural values are revealed visibly. Also in the United States, people have the original love and respect for nature and environment. In the Buick Enclave ad, the screen is: in the morning, a man drives up to wash out, whose process seems to expose to the same harmonious and beautiful nature. The voice-over is: “We designed to wake up the senses, to please your eye and invite your touch. We designed to move you, the finest luxury crossover ever.” The song in this advertisement is the lyric of natural element, for example, “birds are flying high in the sky, and I can feel that. It’s a new day. It’s a new life.”In conclusion, life that is close to the nature is even more beautiful. Through these two words, it can be seen that China and America are closely similar to the values of nature. 2. DifferencesIn Chinese culture, collectivism is the primary value. Among the traditional culture, the family is a basic unit in social structure and cannot be divided, and individual is only an organic part of this unit. For example, “国车骄傲,中国芯”,“我是中国人,我开中国车”these languages appeared in Chery ads as they can find their cultural echo in Chinese culture. So, the concepts as family, group unity, kinship and being social are very common in Chinese auto ads and are favored by Chinese consumer. American social and cultural core is individualism. They are self-centered, i.e. they purse self-satisfaction and emphasize self-realization. Buick Moments in American television commercials, the screen is a man driving the Buick in the forest, his hair with the wind blowing. The monologue: “I feel like I am free simply for the experience of driving.” Full papers use the first person–“I” to describe feelings, and personal feelings and values of performance are very obvious. In this ad, we can see that individualism is the essence of American culture, which becomes the starting point and destination of American thought in the process of the development of American culture.By content analysis, it is shown that Chinese ads tend towards collectivism, but American ads pursue individualism. References:[1]三联教程.别克系列汽车广告语大全[EB/OL].http://www.3lian. com/edu/2014/01-26/127061.html.2014.can hang out with are the people we interested and would like to have a further relationship with. It can be common memory for persons because it is an action to be completed physically. The alternative meanings for hang out include “good friend can spend time together”, “people I interested” and “People I trust to do something together”. The alternative form is “to associate with.” For example, if you want to introduce a friend to your boss or professor in a formal way, instead of saying you hang out with him, you should say you associate with him.
