间接拟声
间接拟声指的是词的发音并不直接唤起某 种听觉的经验,即并非对动物自然声音的直 接模拟,而是引起一种运动的感觉,或者某种 物质与精神特性的感觉。换言之,间接拟声 是指音与某种象征性意义发生联想。
拟声词应该注意以下两个方面的问题:其一,避免滥 造和滥用。不能为了标新立异,千方百计地去创造拟 声词。如果那样,就会起到适得其反的作用,使人如 入云里雾里,不知所云。其二,要交代清楚拟声词所 处的特定场景。这是因为每个人由于知识水平不同、

现代人对这些动物的声音习惯上喜欢笼统地概之 于“······叫”。可是,英语里这类“叫”声却有专 词表达。翻译这类动物拟声词时,为了既忠实于原 著,又能再现出动物各种叫声所呈现出来的生动情 景,笔者认为应该更多地采用拟声词,以避免用汉语 “叫”来笼统地概括各类动物声音的现象。
