本单元Enjoy Your Hobby为话题, 介绍了不同的爱好. 帮助学生理解西方人追求个性解放，喜欢冒险，乐于挑战极限。
表现在他们的爱好上如：蹦极、斗牛、探险等。
中国人注重个人修养，反映在琴、棋、书、画等爱好上。
然而随着时代的发展，东西方文化的交融，这种差异也在逐渐缩小。
本单元要求学生能够谈论并拥有自己的爱好, 同时能够谈论他人的爱好。
二、学习者特征分析1．学生是石泉县熨斗中学的八年级三班学生；2. 学生是14～15岁的少年，思维活跃，对英语学习有浓厚的兴趣；3．学生在学习中表现欲望较强，渴望得到教师或同学的赞许；4．初二的学生经过近一年英语的学习，他们有一定的交际能力和分析问题的能力。
